No, the Loaiza trade was far worse. At least Dickey has provided some value over the past 2.5 seasons. Loaiza gave them nothing, absolutely nothing. And I'm not defending the Dickey trade at all, it was a terrible deal, but not as bad as that trade.

I'm starting to think that they shouldn't do anything at the deadline. As mad as I was last year when they did nothing, as they were in the wild card lead and clearly had holes in their lineup, I think there is too much ground to make up in too short a time, and the cost will not be worth the risk. The time to make a deal was a month ago, imho, but I think they should just sit back and end up around .500, and reload on pitching in the offseason. I don't like writing that very much, as the Jays really need to make a push for the playoffs, but there is no point wasting our farm system for a shot at the wild card, and hopefully we will get a real president who wont' handcuff the organization with stupid limits on free agent contracts. There's lots of good pitching available in free agency, and all it will cost is money, so hopefully they can add a couple of starters. With the addition of one or two players, plus Stroman coming back healthy, 2016 could be a very good year.

Don't like giving up Alford. Jays don't have a lot of position player depth and they need some younger guys to come up through the system. I'd rather give up Hoffman, instead of Alford.

Every day I hate the Dickey trade more and more.

Have to account for raises though...I believe Martin will be up to 15M, which is 8M higher than this year, plus you have to consider re-signing Buerhle, which is going to cost what, $13M? Dickey I'd let walk, but won't be surprised if they pick up the option, which brings the savings down to about 10M.

Shields and Kimbrel; it's time for the Padres to blow up their off-season experiment as it's clearly not working out and they need to replenish their system.

Norris, if only because of the TJS for Hoffman. While pitchers are more injury prone, and Norris could break down at any moment, I still think he's a safer bet health wise; at least he hasn't need surgery yet...

Our pitching seems to have turned a bit of a corner, while the hitters have slumped a bit. We've also endured a large amount of injuries, so I'd expect things to turn around soon. They aren't as good as their RD suggests, and they aren't as bad as their record indicates. -
I would hesitate to use the word "poor" for someone who just signed the largest contract in MLB history. If he didn't want to play in Miami then he didn't need to sign. He's knew what he was getting into. Regardless, he's a monster and a joy to watch.

If they can keep within striking distance of first and add a couple of starters (a la Oakland last year) they they might be able to win the division. They really need Hutch to start performing and hope Sanchez shows enough glimpses of greatness to be a centrepiece of a trade for a top starter.

That's true, and would be good, but you often hear of guys rushing back from injuries only to get hurt again, and I'll I'm saying is that I don't want that to happen to Storman. -

I'd rather he not rush and get back to 100%, rather than stick him in the pen only to have him re-injure it, or injure something else because he's compensating for his leg. -
Two good outings does not a starter make. Let's see him last the whole year before we get all emotional...

Yeah, I sometimes think I'd like to have Graveman (I think he may actually be the best piece Oakland got out of the trade, especially if Lawrie continues to have injury issues), but then I think about what Donaldson will do for our lineup and it makes everything ok.

The article states the Red Sox have the best lineup, without question. I'm not so sure of that; Ramirez is injury prone and Sandoval has been regressing over the past couple of seasons (playoff performance notwithstanding), and Betts is still unproven. I'm not saying they're bad, they could absolutely have the best offensive in the league, but I think there are enough variables and question marks that it's not a given.

If I had to pick, I'd rather them go with high end talent that hasn't had much experience in the minors (Castro), than out of option players that have shown they can't get it done in the majors (Drabek). At least with the former, there is a chance that they could be effective. I'm so tired of the Jays wasting roster spots on fringe out of option players (Esmil Rogers, Jo Jo Reyes, Aaron Laffey, etc.).

Yep, arthritis in his future. I tore 50% of my cartilage. Doc said I could get a gel injection to help with stiffness and pain, but the cartilage would at least still be there, or I could remove it, which would get rid of the immediate pain, but lead to arthritis. As I'm not a professional athlete and didn't need to have a quick recovery, I opted not to have surgery. Now every time I hear of an athlete getting this surgery, all I think about is how much that's going to suck for them in 10 years.

I got it for 1/2 off on a Father's Day special. You have to wait a couple of months into the season, but you still end up with more than half the games at that price.

305 pounds and a bum knee with a degenerative issue. Sounds like that will hold up for a 162 game schedule. I really wonder why they re-signed him. The Yanks should have let him walk when he opted out of his deal.
