  1. also does wonders for a pitcher when he's pitching with a lead!
  2. a) maybe it wasn't in fact gose perhaps he just didn't want a photo taken of him at the underground - if he had been asked on the street, maybe he says yes c) he only says no b/c he's actually brilliant & some crazy nut could be recording him & then posting it on the internet d) he's there to pick up & have a 1 night stand & he won't anyone get in his way e) your friend had been eyeing him for 20 min, Gose picked up on that and felt, you know, weirded out f) your friend's intro was "hey man sweet"...enough said? I don't know, i'm just brainstorming & taking the other side of the argument
  3. so are the argos in a state of limbo/no home or will they continue playing in the rogers centre until a solution is figured out?
  4. i'd prefer upgrading starting rotation over 2B... I say this right now b/c the Lawrie/Francisco/Tolleson gig has been going well
  5. good catch flafson, can essentially cross off Kennedy.
  6. i wonder if he threw at 80-85% velocity, whether he can pinpoint his fastball where the catcher has set up his glove 7 times out of 10... i honestly don't think he can consistently...
  7. part of the issue is expectations...with Gose, they are very minimal - bat #9, get on base once in a while, heck bunt every other time at the plate & we'll be content, speed & play amazing defence with a great arm...with Rasmus, want/expect him to be Mr. Baseball who does everything since he has most of the tools...and of course, league minimum $'s vs. what will likely be an annual salary for rasmus of $15M...
  8. kennedy & McCarthy make sense...free agents in 2016 and 2015 respectively and salaries are fine...both Arizona & likely Padres are not playoff bound...on performance, kennedy has been better this season... kennedy will get $7-$9m next season in his final arb year... another candidate is Liriano if the pirates are out of it - right now, 5 games out of a wildcard and slowly getting back to .500...$6M salary this year, free-agent next year, but seems to be having a very inconsistent season...of the 3 though, he's a LHP kennedy seems to be the having the best season & under control for 1 more year...
  9. quick glance at the standings/stats of CF on certain teams, could see the following teams wanting Rasmus if they're in the playoff hunt: a) Twins Mariners c) Phillies d) nationals
  10. would be great to see the jays jump all over Archer today...what's he, 2-0 vs jays in his short career?
  11. he's already thrown more pitches than in 2012...1050 vs 987 in 2012...
  12. perhaps this was discussed before...my guess is Santos was available to the jays for Molina b/c white sox disclosed, in private, of Santos arm troubles... or was just a salary dump & sufficient bullpen depth by the white sox as advertised?
  13. short of a) he comes back healthy this injury and he's lights out for > 1.5-2 months, imo, his option won't be picked up...jays & morrow need a culture change if Morrow desires to be a starting pitcher moving forward... if Morrow wanted to convert to the pen & renegotiate a contract, that changes the conversation... but he won't - he'll likely get way more $'s on the open market as a starter with incentives than as a reliever... imo, his days as a jay are #'d...which I find exciting - $9m from Morrow plus $7m from Rasmus contracts to hopefully spend where necessary...
  14. "....Alex Anthopoulos maintains a perspective, and it is not the Blue Jays perch atop the American League East. It was May, 2009, when he was J.P. Ricciardi’s assistant, “we were 27-13 and headed off on a nine game road trip,” he recalls. “We lost them all,” Anthopoulos said before Friday night’s win against the league’s best team, Oakland. They went 48-74 the rest of the way. So being 27-22 with a 1 ½ game lead on the Orioles on May 24 is, well, great and surprising and what it was supposed to be last year and this time leads into 16 of 19 games at home…”But,” says the Jays general manager, “it is May..." that's the perspective I like to see...haven't earned anything yet.
  15. Whether it's Kratz, Happ's ability to locate and/or his approach re: fastball, he's pitching better than I ever expected. Still a very small sample size but he gets kudos for recent performance. let's hope he proves many wrong including myself.
  16. CJ is the stabilizing force in the bullpen. He let's others settle into their roles & his ability to close out games gives everyone confidence. I hope he's resigned for 2-3 years. This team plays better with a chip on their shoulder - I hope this doesn't get to their heads. Rays are a big test for the basic reason they've had the jays # over the years...
  17. Liking that 3 way trade involving Rasmus idea....jays get starter from team 3, team 2 that's contending gets CF it needs with pop, and 3rd team gets prospects from team 2
  18. Only hope is Kratz & Happ locating... I sense the A's are gonna jump on him early...my guess 3 & 1/3 before Redmond pitches a few scoreless
  19. Ultimately I think that's what'll happen - MC resigned & QO to Rasmus to get a comp pick... Likely the value Colby brings rest of year is worth hanging on to him, esp if there's a playoff push... But still wonder what he could met in return along with a prospect
  20. Gose is a threat/weapon...entire team knows what he adds to this team... Trade Rasmus for ????
  21. Want to see the jays demolish Chavez...A's are prob looking back at yesterday's game & thinking it was only lost bc of a pitch to Tolleson & overthrow by Kaz...
  22. Don't see Lee a fit $$ wise & where he'd want to play...and while another available pitcher might not be Lee, could provide similar results...
  23. IMO wait & see is the way to go - pitchers will become available & the price based on supply may come down... Where this franchise is, trading for a true #1 isn't likely to happen - IMO, if they can get a solid innings eater that can give u a shot to win/get to the 7th, that's the guy you're looking for without giving up main assets ie Sanchez and stroman... To go all in & trading away remaining assets that are close to the majors & make a contribution will likely set this franchise back moving forward...
  24. yes, 2 out of 3 would be great & a real momentum builder moving forward...A's are a tough team to win against and their road record is great this year.. when should I buy my flexpack so playoff seats are guaranteed
  25. if the jays aren't in it, get what you can for him whether you give him a QO or not...if the jays are in it & you can get a solid SP without giving up any other major assets, ie. Stroman/Sanchez, then something to consider...
