  1. I hate the thought of the "price" for picking him up but I can't deny that part of me would love to see this happen after so many years of being the afterthought. So conflicted.
  2. Ahh, my mistake guys. Thanks for the correction. Well this changes things considerably then.
  3. Well, the Jays are sure to qualify Price, obviously, so there's always the compensation pick if he chooses to sign elsewhere. I'm sure that'll factor into AA's decision to include top prospects. Assuming of course that there's any truth to all these rumours. Too much smoke for there not to be a fire though.
  4. Oh man.....please not without an extension. Especially not Alford, I really think he's going to turn out to be something special. He'll be the best position player to come out of the system in a very long time.
  5. Hey, that's not EE's regular spot in the dugout. He looks pissed too.
  6. On vacation in Nova Scotia with no means to watch the game on TV. Anyone have a online stream link? Thanks in advance!
  7. Seriously. The FO must have something against him. The Jays are a better team with Pompey in the outfield rather that Cola/Carrerra. It makes no sense.
  8. It's the Dominican revolt against the Reyes trade.
  9. Why.....the f***.....is Pompey not up? It's a move that can be made now to improve the club at no cost. He was good enough in AA's eyes to give him the CF job at the start of the year, within a month he's back in the MILB and now they don't want to promote him after a month of very solid play?
  10. Yeah....I went from being super excited to questioning the direction of this team. This has Syndergret written all over it in another year or two.
  11. I can absolutely see us trading better prospects in exchange for SD picking up more salary....ya know, 'cause salary constraints and whatever. It's the Blue Jays way.
  12. Speaking of Stro.....is there still a small chance of him coming back in September? I can see the PR spin now..."Stroman coming back is the equivalent of making a trade for a front of the rotation starter so....."
  13. I have nothing against a reasonable trade for Fiers that does not include any A prospects, if it's a secondary move to bring in a front end rotation guy. If Fiers is the primary target then we're f'd for this year. There's 1/3 of the season left, we need difference makers at this point.
  14. Fiers is an extreme fly ball pitcher with an average fastball of about 89mph. While he might get good results from his repertoire, and could be considered "pretty good", he's not the ace we need. Unless the Jays have given up acquiring an ace for cost reasons and will look at doing something in the off season instead. 'Cause, you know.....there's always next year.
  15. The Jays have a lot of money coming off the books at the end of this year and I can't believe (hate to think) we're shying away from trying to make deals for difference makers for financial reasons, especially after the off season comments last year about money being available at the deadline. If we're once again financially constrained from making deals that could put us in the playoff picture then F this team, F ownership and F the head office.
  16. I hope all the noise surrounding us going after Mike Fiers is just a smokescreen for something bigger. Mike Fiers isn't going to get it done for us, he's not what the Jays need. It's a broken record but we need a true #1, failing that a #2. If AA is spending time, once again, looking at #3-5 type guys then we might as well pack it in and look forward to the offseason when the Jays should have money to spend.
  17. Yeah...not sure I'm a fan of this one. Do the Jays see Sanchez as a part of the future rotation or are they looking at it as a failed experiment? As bad as he was the first part of the year he really started to put it together his last 4-5 starts before the lat injury. He probably was our most reliable arm there for a stretch. Unless this move is to prevent him from further injury and they don't think he can hold up to the grind of being in the rotation. A bit of a head scratcher.
  18. I'll be honest, I wasn't a fan of the trade for Lind whatsoever, and definitely did not want Estrada to see the rotation at all. I thought he'd get rocked game in and game out. He has been one of the pleasant surprises of the year no doubt. Still not sure if I'd look at locking him up for longer than 2-3 years though.
  19. Yup, I'm firmly on "team sell" as well. It's just not happening this year.
  20. For sure, that is all on the Jays. Still though, to have such poor throwing fundamentals and be a MLB player is astounding. if I was the opposition I'd be running on that arm every chance I got.
  21. How can a major league ball player consistently make throws that damn bad? I legitimately believe I could play a better LF than Bello.
  22. At this point I think many have come to realize that the Jays are a hell of a lot further than a pitcher or two from being true contenders. The staff needs a complete retooling, some of which may come next year with the young guys, but I'm no longer in favour of mortgaging the future to make a run and go all in this year. We need too many pieces and if we deleted the farm of the high ceiling guys and things didn't pan out we're looking at no present and no future. Just ride out the season unless you can package lesser prospects for something useful.
  23. Jesus, what a mess of a rotation. If it wasn't for Dickey we'd all be centred on Hutch not deserving a spot. I no longer look at him as part of the solution going forward....he has regressed big time when we all expected him to step up.
  24. Ok, maybe I didn't explain myself properly. In no way am I endorsing Dickey as a BP arm. I was simply saying that I would rather Norris in the rotation at this point than Dickey, I really think he would give us a better chance at winning. We all know that AA won't DFA Dickey so then what do the Jays do with him? BP is the only other option.....long man for when we need to cover 5 innings without using our key BP arms.
