Fair enough. I assumed we'd have to keep him on the 25 somehow, there's no way the Jays are getting rid of him unless through trade. Miraculously.
I think bringing back Norris and Pompey are two moves that can be done now, rather than later, to improve the club internally. It's infuriating to see the org sit on their hands making inconsequential moves back and forth to Buffalo with no real hope of impact to the W-L. Why wait?
While we're waiting/hoping for some key additions to the SP staff what do you think the possibilities are of Dickey being bumped to the bullpen and bringing Norris back up to take his spot? Seems to me that it would be an upgrade that can be made now. You know......as long as we're not about pissing away wins for the sake of protecting egos.
You'd think after 23 years of futility winning would be the only thing that matters.
About a month or so ago Howarth missed a weeks worth of radio broadcasts with the excuse being that he was "sick". Timing wise this came a game or two after his Reyes rant which leads me to believe he was actually suspended because of his comments. The Jays org have been known to do it before.
I'll give it a bit more time before judging too harshly but this is what separates us from the winning teams. Winning organizations know when to make timely additions and don't throw away game after game on replacement players.
Unless a move was made who would you have picked to start in the outfield instead of Pompey? He was definitely pushed hard through the system last year and did very well through all levels. The Jays made the call to make him the everyday CF in spring training and giving him just a month before sending him down was an incredibly short sighted decision, especially when you see the circus that's happening now.
Same s*** we've seen for years - sub par players getting more playing time than they should ever see. Pompey should be up here, he's a MUCH better option than what is on the 25 man today.
Things are about to spiral if meaningful moves aren't made.
Words will never be said publicly but you've gotta believe the offense is as tired of this pitching staff as we are. Ridiculous, and at what time do these losses become demoralizing?
We have the longest playoff drought in North American professional pro sports. If the team is unwilling to get that extra piece or two due to "budget constraints" then it's time for someone else to own this team.
With that said, I think it's obvious the lack of big moves when the team has needed them the most have come down to budgetary reasons.
Despite everything that would suggest otherwise, I feel like the price will be steep. I just hope AA doesn't do something desperately and give up a top spec. A package of B/C prospects, sure, but stay the hell away from Norris/Hoffman/Alford, etc.
Caught that too. Man, Barker is something else. If he hadn't had the cup of coffee in MLB I really don't think his career options would have been promising.
"Baker rejected (and still rejects) the on-base percentage statistic, arguing that extra baserunners simply "clog up the bases" unless they can run well."
Is this real life?
According to this article it happened. Interesting if true.

Butcher and the Angels are complaining now that Donaldson is "classless". Seriously, the only reason this is making headlines is because it was caught on camera. Does anyone really think the on field chatter in most every game is PG?
