  1. Thats what I was thinking too.
  2. Be interesting to see what Donaldson gets in FA in a couple of years. He's an elite player although he'll be 33 years old. Teams just aren't paying for aging players like they used to with Cabrera, Pujols and Cano.
  3. I really wonder if the Blue Jays have added any hitting gurus to their coaching staff. I mean they have a first hand look at how Donaldson and Bautista made swing changes. They need to hire the Tewksbarry's of the world and spend some $ having software like HitTrax etc. I find it weird how you see all these development facilities like Driveline and that yet MLB facilities are garbage in comparison and have outdated equipment.
  4. Thats what I was thinking for the pitching changes, since the more pitching changes the more TV ad $.
  5. The review process is the one that needs to be fixed. Instead of having the umpires waddle over to the headset, have a designated guy there to talk to the people in NY and just relay the call. Also no waiting around to see if the manager wants to challenge the call or not. Have it like the NFL where they have to make a split decision whether they want to challenge or not.
  6. The playoff division format is terrible. Good chance all 4 teams in the Metro are better than any team in the Atlantic yet 2 of them will be knocked out after round 1.
  7. Julien being gone sets up a Sens-Leafs first round.
  8. hahahaha
  9. It depends if they are raising the strikezone 2 inches or they just shave 2 inches off the strikezone because pitches in the upper part of the zone don't get called strikes as they should currently.
  10. Agree 100%. People say MLB should market their stars more but its not going to make a difference. Not only do single MLB players have a marginal effect on the outcome of a game compared to other sports but hardly any fans are going to watch other teams play. The diehard fans will watch 150 games of their favourite team which is basically every day. The only time they are going to see other star players is when their fav team faces them. Only a very select few baseball fans watch games in which their favourite team isn't playing. Even if you wanted to, its pretty difficult given most teams play at the same time.
  11. Throwing 4 pitches for an IBB was a complete waste of time, glad to see it taken out. The raising of the strikezone is interesting because a lot of information now shows its more difficult to hit a high 4 seam fastball than a pitch at the bottom of the zone.
  12. He's probably one of the smarter athletes tbh, went to Duke. You have guys coming out of HS who have no education. Hockey players are some of the dumbest people I've seen. They're all basically straight out of HS and barely even got through that.
  13. Think he means he's getting sponsorship deals coming in and everyone is going "crazy". Anyway who f***in cares its a song.
  14. I think the most important is Russell Martin. If he goes down the drop off in performance from him to Salty/Jiminez is massive considering all he does behind the plate.
  15. Yeah well its nice to see Smith and Howell signed the pen still looks a lot worse than it did heading into last year. Cecil was one of the better relievers in baseball. While Storen sucked he was projected to be better than anyone not named Osuna. This year's pen has a lot of depth with a lot of average arms but Osuna is really the only above average reliever.
  16. I wouldn't call the pen great by any means but for how little $ they spent building it, looks pretty decent. I wonder if Biagini is the 6th starter and they send him to Buffalo to keep Sparkman and Bolsinger on the team.
  17. You don't let Moss sign for $2 Million extra per year to take on Bruce at 9.
  18. There is no "urgency" but you'll very likely save money by signing him now vs waiting until next year. And the closer you get to FA after already making Millions of $ the more likely you'll just wait it out to get a bigger contract. And while it might not make a difference, having him sign now after b2b ALCS appearances and all the success sure doesn't hurt. Especially if the season goes down the gutter and you end up having to sell off a bunch of pieces at the deadline
  19. Really wanted Moss. I guess they could still trade for one during the season. At this point I'd rather Pompey than any one of Smoak, Carter, Napoli
  20. Well we know Carter is bad at both, given years of data. Sure Park doesn't have a "track record" but he's faster than Carter and has performed better. If you ask a bunch of MLB people I'm sure they'd all say Park was better at both.
  21. I think they need a LF way more than a 1st baseman. Pearce is a really good defender at 1st so might as well use him there full time.
  22. What do you mean we have no idea? Park was a positive in both those areas last year (fielding was a limited sample so I'll give you that) but Carter has been a negative baserunner and fielder every year in the league and is trending downwards. I doubt the Jays sign either because of the platoon issue that I mentioned before.
  23. I remember people hating the deal thinking it was d'Arnaud straight up. Then when Synder was announced as a 2nd piece people lost their s***. The only people saying well they're just "prospects" were the idiots in the MSM.
  24. Pre Arb extensions usually work out for the teams so I'd definitely sign both if it was around Carlos Martinez money or less. I think there is a better chance of signing Stroman than Sanchez though.
  25. Park is a better baserunner, fielder and has an additional 2 years at 3M per + a very reasonable option in 2020.
