    Well that pretty much takes the Mets out of the running if JD were to be traded. Outside the Red Sox there just really aren't any contenders who don't have a 3rd baseman locked up. Maybe the Astros if Bregman continues to suck.

    The problem is you aren't getting a competitive team for 5 years. If Donaldson leaves you are a high 70s low 80 win team which is what they had for 20 years. No one wants to be stuck in the middle. Really depends on what Rogers is willing to spend. They can be a competitive team but they're going to need to spend like $180 Million.

    How is this on AA? He traded a bunch of pitching prospects who can break at any time. If you don't make those trades the Jays are probably in a full rebuild right now anyway..

    Almost 100 People lost their job, this isn't simply Jim Bowden getting canned in a one-off. A lot of people who let go weren't bad at their jobs.

    As much as me or you love advanced stats a lot of people still don't like them. Grantland was catered to that and was a huge flop.. Its not like ESPN is going to be replacing these people with more advanced stats people anyways. If you want to read analytic piece there's Fangraphs. There are a lot of hicks in rural america who just want to watch Skip Bayless and Stephen A Smith yell at each its why they get paid so much and a lot of journalists are going no where.

    Why would you hope people lose their jobs? With all these layoffs it just means less content, they aren't replacing any of these people really just downsizing.
