  1. HR to of all people... Chase Headley. I feel like the Padres are asking way too much in return otherwise he would be moved by now.
  2. So because of one bad outing, Stroman is equal to Dickey's inconsistency? Stroman has been very consistent so far and that last start wasn't even that bad. Looked unhittable until the Reyes error and then got into some trouble against a very good lineup. I would take Stroman over any other pitcher on the roster if I had to start a playoff game.
  3. What if they said that more money was going to be available in 2013 for the next season and then retracted that statement saying they couldn't give them anymore money? It just does not make sense to make those trades if they were to put you right up against your spending cap. I think the new Rogers CEO has curbed the Blue Jays payroll limit. It makes no sense from a Rogers perspective to not spend an additional 5 or so million this season anyways. The reward of gaining new fans/excitement and additional revenue from meaningful Sep games and possibly the playoffs far outweighs the risk of spending $5 million. I think fans would take notice of the effort in trying to make the team better even if a move didn't work out. Rogers gets hated on a lot by Blue Jays fans.
  4. It wasn't the only Flyball, there were flyballs that dropped in for hits too.
  5. Exactly. A one game playoff is a crapshoot and you are going to have to play a better Angels team anyway. Baltimore isn't even that good of a team so you need to win the division.
  6. Could look at it the other way by them having to face the Astros and Rangers as well. That division has 2 great teams and 2 awful teams.
  7. There has been so many injuries lately I don't think anyone wishes bad on anyone. Blue Jays know what its like to have a key player injured so I don't think anyone is wishing injury on anyone.
  8. Yeah he will most likely need it eventually. That contract becomes pretty worrisome with an injury in the first year.
  9. My feeling as well. Sucks for baseball in general that one of the best pitchers has a UCL injury but what else is new? The injuries this year is incredible. Wonder if they would entertain the thought of a 26 man roster? Allows players to have more rest but I'm not sure it changes a whole lot.
  10. Really like the ground ball numbers. Nice to see the walk and Ks as well.
  11. Tanaka apparently has a partially torn UCL. Will rehab and could be back in 6 weeks if everything goes right. Huge break for the rest of the AL East and a huge blow to the Yankees.
  12. Seems like Rogers is handcuffing AA. It would be in Rogers best interests to spend the money and go for it. Look how the city rallied around the Raptors playoff season and imagine topping that because the Blue Jays have a much bigger fan base. Also it seems like 85-88 wins could win the division this year. You know that will probably never happen again and in 2 years time 95 wins may not even win the division. If we can just hold on now and make a couple trades for a 3rd baseman and another bench piece this team will contend for the playoffs. The schedule is so AL East heavy in September that if you are 3GB you can still have a very good chance of taking the division. With guys like Lawrie, EE and hopefully Lind being healthy by September the Blue Jays will have a very real shot at winning the division. Of course you have to hope there are no other injuries to the pitching staff or other key players but there is a very real shot at winning the division this year when you will never know what will happen in future seasons.
  13. S Sarcasm or actual quote?
  14. Talk about a ton of prospects to watch today in the GCL. Pentecost, Lane Thomas, Gudino, Matt Morgan as position players and Osuna, Reid-Foley, Nick Wells as pitchers.
  15. What a wasted trip for all those scouts including Ben Badler. Feel bad that they take their time and it was wasted.
  16. They originally had it at 2IP but must of made a mistake and took it down.
  17. Apparently Aiken has an elbow issue and the Astros are looking to offer him way underslot now.
  18. Very good write up. While I haven't watched hardly any of these guys pitch, it seems the big issue with all the short season guys is command. With how many of them there are im sure a few will pan out so its great that we have a lot of quantity of high upside pitchers. Another thing I notice when I am looking at box scores but it seems that our position prospects put up massive strikeouts. There has been a few times that the team has K'd over 13 times.
  19. I have a really bad feeling about EE. When he said he heard a pop I immediately though ACL but even a torn quad he could be out for the season.
  20. Don't think it was a mirage. The team looks a lot different right now compared to then. Seems position players just have no confidence and its showing their Abs.
  21. You could probably suck some GM into the trade just based on his name.
