  1. EE's contact rates took a pretty big decline this season so I can see the view people have of him headed for a bigger decline. Compare that with Bautista who's Whiff rate and Zone Contact% has been relatively the same each year since his breakout despite him being 35 years old now.
  2. It'd be cool to see how good Trout's numbers would be if he played for the Blue Jays and these AL East parks.
  3. When has he ever said he didn't like Toronto? Also what the hell does Pillar have to do with this?
  4. He just said in another thread Liam Hendriks is best used as a swingman in a clear troll attempt.
  5. So thankful Godfrey is gone. He was beyond terrible. I just want to forget that era even existed. Those black uniforms were some of the worst in sports too.
  6. Yeah seems like you could have him for another year or 2 then move him. I mean he had a f***in 170wRC+ just last year. Thats insane for a SS.
  7. lol thats pretty funny.
  8. Well him overruling the scouts by taking Romero over Tulo was a franchise altering mistake. He could of went underslot with picks to go overslot with others as well. And if he really believed in needing more money for the draft he should of communicated this with ownership.
  9. I'd agree with that. Certainly weren't going to win consistently with such a poor farm system.
  10. 2008 and 2015 really aren't any different. in 08 Jays were 3 million from being 11th and in 15 were 3 million from being 13th. Those were the years each regime had their "last shot at winning before being fired" The draft budget hurt JPR I'm sure but his draft record was pretty terrible regardless. Many mistakes he made there.
  11. Blue Jays 2008 payroll- 97.7 Million Blue Jays 2015 Payroll-122.5 Million Can anyone find average MLB team payroll by year? I would think the % of average payroll from 2008 to 2015 isn't much different for the Blue Jays
  12. Well whoever you sign as depth probably costs 3-5 millon. I'm aware of the process but I don't believe in Goins as a starter. Also to get that 3.5 win pitcher you are probably paying more than Tulo's deal and then comes with the risk of paying that type of money on pitching. The downgrade in the lineup from Tulo to Goins also likely costs more than 2 wins since you would be taking away extra ABs from elite players like Donaldson, Bautista etc at the top of the lineup.
  13. Yeah but I'm not sure you want to take a calculated hit this season. Jays have the best shot to win the division this year, I think we could both agree. Do you want to risk that to make the team a little better down the road, when there is no guarantee the Jays will be as close to winning the division? Red Sox look like they will be perennial contenders from 2016 onwards. I think you are overestimating how bad Tulo's contract is. 20 million in 2019+ is not an albatross. If payroll is 200 million by then, that is the same as 12-13 million is this year.
  14. The Blue Jays this year were the best team in MLB talent wise.
  15. Payroll hasn't been much different. Inflation make the number look bigger but in terms on % of money in baseball I don't think there's a big difference.
  16. Well building the best team in baseball has to be relevant, no?
  17. Sure but say you add Cliff Pennington. Any combination of Goins-Pennington at SS is probably going to look bad. I just don't see how trading Tulo makes the blue jays better this season.
  18. Thats why everyone is speculating there is something that happened that we don't know about.
  19. I'm not the biggest projections guy but Tulo is projected to be more than a 3 win Upgrade over Goins. Even if its closer to 2 than 3 wins I can't see the team getting a SP that would justify the downgrade at SS. Also very risky with Travis's injury history and Goins who hasn't proven he can hit at a reasonable level.
  20. Can't see that making the team any better. You lose 2 wins at SS, so you likely need to get a 3.5 Win pitcher to justify the cost just for next season and those type of pitchers cost a ton of money.
  21. lol doesn't seem like that at all.
  22. Watched part of the game last night, have to agree with GD. Hated the offensive style of play. They can beat the bad teams by Derozan getting to the FT line but against the good teams they won't win crap. Derozan isn't a good enough athlete to beat good defensive players so they are going to have to change the way they play in order to beat good teams IMO. Lowry is still fantastic but he can only do so much.
  23. 100 level behind the plate. I might explore my options to see if I could get better seats. I'd definitely be interested in selling off games though especially some of the weekday games. They'd be at cost which is way under face value.
