Because he's really f***ing good and relievers are really valuable for teams in the playoffs. Look what Price, Cueto, Miller even Zobrist got as rentals the last couple of years. He's going to return more than a back end top 100 prospect.
lol have you seen Brett Lawrie's parents? They're fat as hell but the guy is ripped. These guys are professional athletes and train year round, as long as they put the work in they aren't going to get fat.
Beltran is just as bad of a defender in RF as Bautista maybe even worse. Only way I see them acquiring Beltran is if they traded Bautista for a lot more than they gave up for CB and played him at DH.
Just because a team didn't give up much for him doesn't mean they will give him away. Josh Donaldson is getting a hell of a lot more than than what the Jays gave away for him 2 years ago if he's traded in the next year.
The Yankees are going to get way more than Jon Harris for him, I can assure you that. Its probably going to be an Eduardo Rodriguez type like the Sox got back for Miller a couple of years ago. Relievers are worth a ton this time of year.
Ugh I think this is a great deal for the Sox. Pomeranz has 2 years left after this season and even though Espinoza looks like he will be really good he's still so far away. To not have to give up any additional prospects I think the Sox win the deal.
Also makes it that much harder for the Jays this year.
Because they you are stuck paying him 17 Million when you could have used that money to better improve the team. If Dickey was 38 maybe you could do the QO but no team is giving Dickey more than a guaranteed 2 years.
Yeah but then you are paying close to 17 Million for him and get screwed if he takes it (which he would). No team is going to give up a draft pick to sign Dickey for 1 year.
Its really small and the prices aren't very good. You would be better off buying from MLB.com and just getting it shipped to where you are staying in Florida.
Saunders was trying to get through another stupid interview giving cliche answers while really not paying much attention to the whole thing. The last thing he probably wants to do is stir up some controversy by taking a stand because the next day headlines would read "Saunders trashes band".
The dude had no idea what was even going on in the first place.
If he signs for 10 Million, sure why not. It fills a hole for cheap and lets you spend more on the offence where we need to extend/replace EE/JB/Saunders.
He should be good until he hits FA. He doesn't really have outstanding speed to begin with but rather is great because of the reads he gets on the ball which shouldn't decline much over time.
