  1. Control matters a lot less in the NBA than MLB though. You just need to get the player since his team can offer a 5 year max instead of the 4.
  2. If he can be a 90wRC+ bat thats great value and likely half a win. 3-4 Million is barely anything and don't forget you are getting insurance against Martin going on the DL
  3. Relavent: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-two-things-chris-iannetta-represents/ Maybe having Martin around helps him.
  4. He likely only costs 3 million. I think that justifies the upgrade in Jimenez and the additional depth.
  5. His framing numbers are weird. I remember he said he changed his technique in 2015 which resulted in him being good, but he went back to being crap last year.
  6. He was an above average hitter every year except one? Navarro is exactly the guy you explained.
  7. I'm telling you to scroll down and actually look at his defensive numbers and not the column beside WAR.
  8. That same source said something along the lines of Edwin at 3/63 by the Indians and Passan reported no team has offered 3/60 for Edwin so I think that tells you what you need to know.
  9. He wasn't "s*****" defensively until this year. You just did the common mistake of looking at his DEF column which includes position penalty. He was basically average from 2009-2015 even a bit higher. DRS from 2009-2015 was +4
  10. So have other athletes. Blake Griffin is doing fine in the NBA after getting his removed in college.
  11. Because he's still good? Lot of guys have torn their meniscus's, doesn't mean their knee is going to fall off.
  12. I wonder if Rogers gives them an extra 5M to spend if they sign Bautista back. Surely there is some additional value from the name that the Blue Jays and Rogers would benefit by.
  13. I wouldn't mind then signing Saunders back to platoon with Upton/ get some starts at 1st base. If it only costs $10M per on a 2 year deal there is good value in that. He had such a good first half that you have to believe the talent is still there. No one's numbers drop that much unless there is an injury.
  14. I think I read 133. You would have to backload them say give Fowler 12 and JB 14 next year. Even then you leave no money for the pen or a backup catcher unless you can unload Smoak.
  15. Random thing I found out today. Jason Garett was the QB when Shapiro was a 275lb offensive lineman for the Princeton football team. http://m.bluejays.mlb.com/tor/video/topic/17396516/v1214900083/mark-shapiro-discusses-blue-jays-on-intentional-talk
  16. Say Fowler signs 4/68 you could structure it where they only pay him 10-12 Million this year, fitting both into the payroll cap.
  17. If thats all it would take I'd sign both in a heartbeat. Bautista at 17 Million for a 3 Win player is a steal. Have him and Pearce share time at 1B/LF and send Smoak away. Lineup with both is fantastic Fowler Donaldson Bautista Morales Tulowitzki Pearce Travis Martin Pillar
  18. Really hope they sign Jose. He's the perfect leadoff hitter this team needs. Have Pearce play LF and Jose 1B.
  19. Exactly. He'd be a perfect fit, now the question is if Sac does trade him. In a perfect world they would trade JV+Siakam and a couple 1st round picks. Maybe Powell if you really need to but preferably keep him. S I think they need him as a presence in the middle and on the glass, I don't buy into the "3rd scoring threat". If Joseph, Ross, Carrol and Patterson can shoot 3s within 3% of what they are doing now that is all you need offensively. With Derozan and Lowry's ability to drive to the rim you just need to surround them with 3 point shooters in order to have a very successful offence.
  20. Does he forget the Cubs are in the same division? I'd much rather play for Toronto.
  21. Well at least the Blue Jays should have one of the best lineups vs LHP in the majors. Pearce Donaldson Tulo Morales Martin Upton Thats a lot of lefty mashers.
  22. He would be on the Free Agent Market...
  23. Do we have data on what his exit velo and launch angle were in previous seasons. Anyone know what the year to year correlation is with those numbers?
  24. Red Sox seem to have stole Sale.
