For a guy who never has managed a playoff game before this season, today really showed me just how good Gibby is. Near perfect strategy in terms of this game and setting up game 5. It's amazing how 22 years of not being in the playoffs make people question such a great move as they haven't been exposed to playoff conditions. Do or die game, winning is the your #1 mission. Bringing in Price, especially after Dickey, helps you make sure of that. Who cares if it's a 6 run lead, look at what happened in Houston. You have your second ace setup to pitch game 5, and without Cecil you now have the luxury of potentially using Price out of BP Wednesday. In a tight game could be huge against certain lefties. Gibby continues to impress, good stuff. -
I can't believe he is STARTING in the playoffs. For all the idiots who complain about Gibbons this is just one of many managers in the league making obviously poor decisions.

Doesn't worry me in the least. Put Beltre and his bad back in the 3 spot and at the hot corner. He won't be the same guy.

Utley didn't mean to injure anyone, he meant to break up a double play. Just like players do almost every day in the league, you just don't see it when no one gets injured. I absolutely believe those types of slides need to be stopped as we've seen far too many middle infielders get injured, but to finally "throw the hammer" during the playoffs on Utley is stupid. He did what the rules allowed him to do - I don't agree with the rules (or lack of) but you don't make an example of a guy in the playoffs for this.

In no way did he blame Gibby for that, he criticized Pillar. Gibby was barking at Pillar after that play. -
So in a do or die game you don't want our best possible option pitching if absolutely needed? Weird. Great management by Gibby tonight, get Price up to throw his usual side session between starts and he's ready in case things get dicey in a must-win game. Same will happen with Stro tomorrow (and rightfully so)

Exactly. And the pitchers we're facing in Arlington give us a great change for that. For whatever reason I also tend to think hitting the road may relieve a bit of pressure from them, being away from all the Toronto media and hype might help them relax.

Of course we have a chance. We will be the favourite in every game and for good reason. If we take the game Sunday and they put Holland out in game 4 we're a massive favourite to bring this thing back to TO. I don't see the point of being a pessimist. If you're a true fan you always think your team has a chance to win. And we actually do despite the odds being against us. Perfect time to start another 11 game winning streak if you ask me.

Loup has been frustrating to watch this year which is why it's easy to forget how strong he is as a loogy. His #'s against lefties are solid this year. Confused with why Dickey isn't going game 3.
