  1. Dannon has to be let go after this. Other Execs around the league won't take him seriously
  2. Well I'm glad some Rogers lackeys panned the deal. It makes no sense especially if they plan on signing a LF and have Clase and Loperfido already waiting in the wings. There's an article on MLBTR about the trade and while it didn't quote Dannon directly, it did say that "The Blue Jays believe Straw could be a worthwhile addition in his own right..." If so the pro scouting dept along with Dannon himself should be let go. Helen f***ing Keller would have known that Straw sucks.
  3. Yeah, weren't we 50-51 @ the trade deadline or something. I think our pythag may have better but I remember there was a lot of people who wanted AA gone
  4. I haven't seen any reporters, especially ones employed by Rogers criticizing the move? Not that I especially like the move but I'd like to see what some in the industry have to say. Any links?
  5. Instead you will see a trade for Stroman and signing guys like profar and moncada with another middle reliever, IMO. It's going to be a very underwhelming ride to spring training. I could be wrong but I don't think they plan on trading Vlad until at least the deadline which is probably the stupidest play possible
  6. But in 8-10 years paying an over the hill DH 35 million may not be the albatross it seems like it is now. And seeing how MLB contracts are ballooning, it probably wont be.
  7. The guy hit .240/.321/.329/.650 in AAA last year in 123 games and is now 30 years old. The better options are infinite.
  8. I'm guessing Ross figured he could win him over with his undeniable charm.
  9. If only we had a FO that could promise waves and waves of talent coming through the minor league system
  10. So have all the top IFA signed? I am trying to find a list of players that are left but can't find any. Someone please tell me we didn't take on Myles f***ing Straw for IFA money we can't even use. If it wasn't so funny, it'd be sad.
  11. I thought it was menopause
  12. Bichette is the real wildcard here. I suspect if they do land Sasaki and get an extension with Vlad, they'll probably just play it out with Bo but if they can get a bidding war going for him it may be best to move him even if they plan on competing.
  13. I really don't care what the casual fans think, tbh. Granted this FOs player development has been shite so maybe taking on some dead money to increase the bonus pool is a lose lose. Either way, I suspect the budget may not be as tight as we previously thought if we are taking on Straw who should be an OK 4OF type but if we are still planning on signing a LF then we are going to have a crowded outfield, Straw does have options though. And if we miss out on Sasaki and the contract talk with Vlad don't go well then we are more then likely staring down barrel at a rebuild anyway.
  14. Imagine if Sasaki told the Dodgers and Jays they'd have to max out on the bonus pool allotment to get him to sign and no team would deal with the Dodgers and we end up getting him because of that.
  15. I'm not really sure it will be a massive joke if we don't land Sasaki. The fact that we are one of the last two teams standing for a 23 year old Japanese phenom where money doesn't appear to be an issue. Maybe the Jays are more impressive of a destination than some think. Don't get me wrong it will suck if we lose him to the Dodgers but its not the egg in the face you make it out to be. And if we don't get him, we have $10M to spend in IFA which isn't nothing either.
  16. Definitely. The 2003 ones look like spring training jerseys
  17. We had an ugly run of jerseys for a couple of decades. Why they switched from the originals is beyond me.
  18. I think the writing is on the wall for a rebuild. It appears both Vlad and Bo want to test free agency and I don;t like the idea for overpaying them, especially Vlad. I kind of like Abom's idea of trading one (or both to Seattle) and taking back some salary. I'd probably even eat some of Vlad's money to get a better return. I'm not going to pretend what we could get from Seattle but they need bats and we have a few. I'd also look into trading Gausman and Bassitt too and sign a bunch of guys looking to rebound. Atkins got a pretty good haul for secondary pieces at this past deadline and hopefully he could do the same, if he's still around. This team is a hot mess right now, IMO, but we have the ability to take back bad contracts to up the return and the rebuild/retool could be somewhat quicker and less painful .
  19. Competing with him appears like its going to tough as well
  20. Jays24 has been around since 2020
  21. I think option 4 is the route they are planning and it's scares me that we are going to lose Bo and Vlad for a couple of comp picks if we are anywhere close to the 3WC at the trade deadline. Atkins' ass has to be on the hot seat
  22. Someone needs a Xanax
  23. I think Giminez's hit is $15M for luxury tax purposes and that's really all that matters. If they add two bat first guys, I am fine with this deal but if it's fillers from here on out, this doesn't make much sense
