  1. I am taking my son to Pittsburgh to catch a hockey and baseball game in April. My brother in law used to be the assistant trainer for the local QMJHL here and the trainer there is now the head trainer for the Pens. Says he's gonna take us into the dressing room to meet the players. I think I'm more excited then the young fella!
  2. According to David Ortiz, Vlad turned down 13/$585M. Take it with as many grains as you wish https://x.com/z101digital/status/1891912290481340823?t=velFiaJBA9XxAL-iL0v8lw&s=19
  3. I don't know, it feels like your nitpicking but whatever. I do agree that they should trade him or match any offer. Losing him for a comp pick should not be in the equation. That being said, the market will dictate what he's worth and I'm sure the Jays will be right there. Only time will tell I guess but either way he should have a monster year if he's looking to prove himself
  4. Dumping on the FO on what they might have probably offered in your opinion is a weird tale. I'm not going to pass judgement on either side until the numbers are leaked but Passan is one of the most respected guys in the game and he believes Vlad turned down a dump truck full of money. Risky play, if true.
  5. I don't know man. I'm just telling you what Passan said, that he "believes Vlad turned down a lot of money. Like a lot". If Vlad has another pedestrian season heay regret this decision. As an aside, I'm not sure that's the burn you think it is
  6. https://x.com/FAN590/status/1892301999246291191?t=Fo9e4rTBMx1hXRE3hyJ9dg&s=19 I don't know how to embed tweets but Passan emphasizes that Vladdy turned down A LOT of money. Hopefully he has a monster year and we re-sign him but either way he should be determined to have a big year
  7. You have no clue that the FO wouldn't go near $450. You're assuming they didn't and are throwing a hissy fit over it. Just give it up, there's no point in debating this until we know the number
  8. Hard to pass judgement on this without knowing the particulars. If Vlad is asking for way too much money, he will figure that out in free agency and the market will decide what he's worth. I always thought the best route was to trade everyone and start fresh but that was a pipe dream. After the signings they made they were essentially pot committed on the season. See how it plays out I guess but if the team is out of it at the deadline then I'm guessing a huge firesale is coming in Aug.
  9. Yah $20-$25 million per year seems too dear for Kirk. There's only two catchers who make over 20M a season...Realmuto and Perez.
  10. Yup. Id we can get one of Bregman or Alonso and a capable SP I'll take back all the bad things I've said about Dannon and the Roki debacle. Giminez Santandar Alonso or Bregman Flaherty, Max or Pivetta Hoffman and Sandlin Is a pretty good haul. He really needs to improve the development/drafting but this off-season is already miles ahead of last off-season
  11. I'm taking my son down in April, 2 Pirates games and 1 Penguins game, Buc are playing the Cards and the Pens are playing the Blackhawks, so we get to see 4 terrible teams lol,
  12. Same as 2016 a reset was needed with no farm and a bloated payroll but Rogers knew they could fill the stadium after 2015. It can get discouraging.
  13. Yup. Trade anyone you can and jumpstart it. Instead we are probably looking at another sub .500 season and are going to lose Vlad an Bo for a grand total of two comp picks. It's so f***ing discouraging.
  14. They did offer Soto close to three quarters of a billion dollars so the money was always there, I just hope they don't get trigger happy and offer someone like Santandar 5/100 or something stupid. There are lots of avenues still left to improve the team, I just have lost all faith in Dannon being able to do the job without getting fleeced.
  15. There's an article on The Athletic that states the Jays believe Straw could be a worthwhile addition to their team even if meant they didn't get Sasaki. The spin machine is already firing full throttle.
  16. As long as they use the money on something then it makes the deal at least somewhat palatable. If they don't use it then it will just leave more of a sour taste in fans mouths. I did read somewhere that we are in agreement with Polanco and that De La Cruz and and either Tavares or Alvarez signed with the Padres. I wonder what guys the Dodgers had lined up...
  17. Personally, I would do a hard reset, blow it all up and trade everyone. I understand for business reasons that isn't going to happen, though.
  18. I think that's fair and I do give him credit for going after players like Ohtani, Soto and Sasaki and there is definitely information that we aren't privy to but all info we have points to an ineffective GM. It's the lack of drafting and developing that is the icing on the cake for me. We had a top ten payroll, a bottom ten farm and the fifth worst record in baseball last year. That should have been a fireable offense in it's own right, IMO. And now we are almost into February and our biggest need has not been addressed and we are about to go into this season with a putrid offense and our two best players set to become FA. Its like there's no direction. If we don't sign two power bats and go into the season with Vlad and Bo on expiring contracts things could be real ugly for '26 and beyond.
  19. They haven't destroyed the franchise but they've been proven to be pretty inept and the rest of the league has apparently picked up on it. They've proven they aren't very good at drafting and/or player development. Top tier FA are apparently using us as leverage and while he has done OK on the trade front when you suck at drafting/developing you won't be able to acquire much. I mean, both Ross and Mark said that Ross has to do better this season and he hasn't. The team definitely needs pop (I.E. low hanging fruit) and how have they addressed that? Certainly not by trading for Giminez (who I don't mind) or Myles Straw. And if they end up signing Santandar to something ridiculous like 5/$100,.I wouldn't call that a win. I used to believe in this FO but I've lost all confidence in them. Id say the feeling is the same for the players in the clubhouse and id say Ross has lost the respect of his peers, too. The guy has got to go
  20. Have we even signed anyone yet?
