  1. Well, when I make my usual posts about Gibbons, you tell me to stop. Now you're encouraging it? Make up your damn mind!
  2. AA did not look like a bad GM in 2012. Rogers gave him a ton of money to spend to improve the roster, and he set the franchise back many years with the moves he ended up making. Now he's simply playing out the rest of his contract, as Rogers probably doesn't want to pay Alex to sit at home. If they extend him beyond this season, then yes, blame Rogers. Otherwise, no, they are not the issue.
  3. Rogers has given this org a top 10 payroll for the past three seasons. They are not the issue. Gibbons is a terrible manager, and Alex is not a good GM. I think you could get away with AA as GM if he had a manager that had a clue how to use a roster effectively (not using Castro as closer right away, not DH'ing Navarro, and so on), but then again, the roster was haphazardly put together by AA in the first place, so they share the blame. Gibbons has been manager the only two times Rogers has spent money since owning the team (2005-08 and 2013-present). Every other time they've been cutting payroll down. People wonder why the Jays always underachieve despite having the talent. Pretty darn simple to figure that out when you see who is running the ship.
  4. I love watching people defend a manager who consistently makes bad bullpen decisions, plays DH's in the outfield, back-up catchers at DH, starting catchers at 2B, overworks his young relievers (Osuna/Castro), and so on. Keep believing a bad manager can't hurt a team. I've wanted Gibbons gone since the moment he was announced as manager in 2013. This was pretty darn predictable.
  5. We are getting closer to my "fire Gibby and go on a 2nd half run" prediction. Just a matter of how long the Fat Greek wants to wait. If he waits too long, he will have wasted a golden opportunity.
  6. Too bad there is no game thread for today's game. Dickey just pitched to Bryce Harper with a base open (runners on 2nd/3rd) and 1 out. Why set up a DP when you can have RA s***** pitch to the best hitter in the world?
  7. Doubront to the rotation, Dickey to the pen? Does the Dickey Effect help in the pen since he looks done as a starter?
  8. I still don't understand what was wrong with Yunel at short making 5mil.
  9. This thread shall live on as long as Gibby is still employed. Demarlo can't possibly be worse than the wobbly redneck. Make the change now, and then thank me after the 2nd half run.
  10. Dickerson against rhp is a better option than Pillar.
  11. Loup and then Delabar. Gibby's gon Gibby.
  12. Pitching nearly everyday as a reliever and then sent down to pitch as a starter. Didn't see an injury coming at all.
  13. Poor rotation, poor bullpen, and good offense doesn't look like a recipe for success. Maybe they go on a run and win a s*** division, but a lot will have to go right, including climbing out of a hole they've dug themselves in.
  14. If the Jays win this division with a rotation of Dickey, Hutchison, Buehrle, Estrada, and Sanchez, coupled with a bullpen that can't be trusted beyond 2 relievers, then the division winner will be ~.500. That's really the only way. This isn't the late-90's Texas Rangers.
  15. Similar to Graveman, let him make his numbers look dominating and then trade him for a big league piece. Given AA's ridiculous fast tracking when it comes to prospects, the fact that he's keeping Boyd in a level below where he should be is telling. Or maybe I'm just making too much of it.
  16. I have a strange feeling that the reason Boyd is still in Double-A when he should be in AAA is because Alex is going to trade him in his last ditch desperation move.
  17. His "I don't give a s*** about depth" philosophy already killed him the moment Stroman went down. He won't be getting away with it this season.
  18. They also spent months trying to get Dan Duquette, who by all measures is a much better executive/GM than AA. I'd say it's 50/50 they hire someone worse.
  19. Yep. The Jays winning a s*** division and prolonging the employment of AA and Gibbons would be brutal. I'm so conflicted. I want the Jays to make the playoffs but want those two nimrods replaced. Ugh.
  20. Reyes and half his salary for Miller and Montero would work for me. Even eating half his salary saves the Jays $24m over the next two years which can be used elsewhere.
  21. As long as the Padres are still run by that dude who thinks Wil Myers is a CF, there's a chance.
  22. The only way to not waste Donaldson's prime is to trade Bautista, Edwin, and Reyes for players that are younger, cheaper, and can help over the next 5 years. Not sure which teams would trade MLB ready young players away at this point but the best way to ensure wasting Donaldson's prime is either by letting Bautista and EE go for nothing or trading them for prospects that are years away.
  23. I can't believe the Jays had Syndergaard. What a disaster trade. Ugh.
  24. Well, the narrative is that this offense can torch bad pitching and sucks against the good ones. Let's see what happens with Shark today. Need to sweep these guys.
  25. Oh no, Estrada facing Abreu with runners on. Please no dinger.
