  1. I agree, but what good is Smoak if he is playing 2 days a week because of the idiot manager? Navarro should have been traded a few days after Martin was signed. He's not only f***ing up Martin's framing but also costing the team runs on defense with EE at 1B and taking AB's away from a potentially better hitter. I can't wait until Gibbons is fired.
  2. Can the Jays just DFA Smoak and call up Thole to catch Dickey? I mean, seriously. Gibbons wants Navarro to play everyday. So put him at DH everyday, and don't waste Martin's framing on Dickey anymore. Smoak is getting on base and has a 100 wRC+ and still can't crack the lineup over a fat back-up catcher that can't hit. Unbelievable.
  3. Yeah, send Norris down instead of DL'ing him. Saves his service clock a bit. Only problem is, who takes his spot? If it's Estrada, then who takes Sanchez's spot? Francis? Jenkins? Why'd you have to get hurt, Stroman?????
  4. 4 of the team's 7 losses were by 1 run, and two others were by 2 and 3 respectively. The only game they lost convincingly was to Ubaldo. On the flip side, they have on 1 run win, and in the other five wins have outscored their opponents by 23 runs. Are the Jays unlucky or is that masking the bigger issues (terrible SP, mostly)?
  5. The Marlins trade was worse than the Dickey trade. If that trade was never made, how good would the Jays future be right now? They wouldn't have made the subsequent Dickey trade, and we'd be where the Mets are right now assuming AA didn't do anything too stupid. I can't believe a NY team can be patient (Mets) but a Toronto team has to accelerate s*** when they aren't ready for it.
  6. It's not even that. He didn't have the foresight to think about service time with his rookies. He didn't have the common sense to role with guys like Hendriks, Delabar, etc, in the bullpen to begin the season so he didn't have to rush Castro and Osuna. He didn't have the unbiased vision to see that Estrada was a better MLB starter than Sanchez when everyone on this forum knew it. He didn't have the common sense to trade Navarro so that Elmer Fudd didn't have the option of playing him at DH. More money from Rogers would have been great. However, Alex proved in the month of March that he is not a MLB GM. His moves that were completely driven by short term desperation not only hurt the team short term rather than help but also hurt them long term. He does not deserve another chance. After he fails this year, move on. I kinda wish Duquette was brought in when it was rumored. He wouldn't have done the stupidity that AA did.
  7. I wonder what Smoak has to do to win the 1B job rather than be benched for Navarro 3 times a week. Just have to keep hitting, I guess.
  8. Estrada replacing Sanchez is fine, but who replaces Norris if he continues like this? Hendriks?
  9. Sanchez, Norris, Pompey, and Castro: not quite ready yet. Maybe sign some veterans so you don't have to count on 20-year old's, AA.
  10. I can't believe we got Donaldson for that tatted up douchebag. Great trade.
  11. Yep. It's happening. Sanchez's next start is against Baltimore, and an ass kicking in that game could seal his fate.
  12. Not me. I wanted Thole on the team and Navarro traded. Doesn't make sense to have Martin catch Dickey. Never did.
  13. If true, I hope the Jays either make the playoffs, or trade him to a contender in July/August if they don't. He's one of my favorites as well. Very rare to see such a consistent pitcher in this era. Hope he sticks around with the Jays beyond 2015, but I guess if he's calling it quits, at least he'd be leaving while still on the top of his game.
  14. The idiots running this team have him catching Dickey. That might be one reason, though I haven't looked up the stats.
  15. I think even AA and Gibbons know that he's not doing very well so far. Not striking guys out, FIP of 4.86 before the game, but maybe they are looking at his ERA and think everything is fine. If he keeps pitching poorly, then it has to be only a matter of time, especially if Sanchez moves to the pen. Osuna is at least holding his own. Castro doesn't look ready at all.
  16. With Hendriks turning into a good reliever, what are the chances of Castro being sent down when Sanchez is finally taken out of the rotation? Osuna can probably stay at this point since his innings limit is likely 100 at best this season, but Castro could use the demotion. He's not ready.
  17. You can't DFA the best pure hitter on the team. /Gibbons. So much wrong with this roster. Put Sanchez in the pen. Estrada in the rotation. Castro and Osuna in the minors to develop them as starters (this will be hard to justify given how good they've been but whatever). Navarro DFA. Thole to catch Dickey, Martin catches everyone else. Then we are in business.
  18. Loup dominates the 7th on 7 pitches....so let's bring in someone new. I won't even comment on Navarro as it's been beaten to death how stupid it is. Gibbons is f***ing terrible. I hope the team is under .500 on June 1, and management forces Gibbons to be fired. That would still leave enough time for a 2nd half comeback.
  19. I'm glad people are coming around on Gibby. I felt so alone in my hatred for the hick who never deserved a big league managing gig in the first place (much less two of them). The sooner he is fired, the sooner this team can gel. Hopefully Alex doesn't wait too long.
  20. Escobar was better than Reyes in 2013, and might be again this year if his offense bounces back. Even if he isnt, he cost 5m a year. More than enough to add players for other positions. I wish AA was more like Alderson. Have a plan and stick to it regardless of impatient fans and media. Might have been better off if he did stay patient looking at how his prospects are doing.
  21. Any chance we can go back in time and only trade a few prospects to Miami for Buehrle alone while keeping Yunel, Alvarez, etc? No? Darn.
  22. Yep. I'd give the qualifying offer to Buehrle in 10 seconds this off-season. Maybe he does us a favor and accepts. In reality he will probably leave and the rotation will be hurt without him.
  23. Hale is on the bench. Give him a try. Anyone is better than Gibbons.
  24. I have officially changed my stance on managers. They do matter. Jays down by 3. They have 2 runners on with 2 out and the tying run at the plate. Justin Smoak is up. Jays need a 3 run HR badly and Smoak has power. So what does Sling Blade do? Remove Smoak for Navarro. Against a righty. Navarro can't hit righties. Then in the 9th inning, instead of having Navarro ready to pinch hit for Goins, all he has is Tolleson (who can't hit righties) so Goins has to bat for himself. Gibbons has been holding this team back for 10 years. Gaston and Farrell barely had a cup of coffee here. It's been practically 70% of Gibbons for a f***in decade. No wonder this team is trash despite having a good roster.
