Makes sense to have Gibby’s timeline end with Jd’s timeline. That might have been Shatkins plan. Let Gibby manage the JD teams and then move on after that.
That was Gibby 1.0. The 2015 version was so bad he wanted me to rip out whatever was left of my hair.
Since Shatkins took over he’s been noticebaly better, and harmless overall.
Gurriel was as well before he got hurt. We just have to be patient and wait for this time next year and 2020.
This is just the BS phase to transition into the next one and the front office is not rushing promotions for service times reasons. Once the young blood come up, things will get interesting again.
Who is coming in out of the pen for the 8th and 9th? I don't even know who is in the pen at this point there has been so much turnover. Hopefully Giles gets in.
Gibbons not going to let some AAAA goober ruin a perfectly good tank job.
Gibby 2.0 doing what’s best for the org.
Edit: Biagini only gives up the one run. Fail.
I'm not sure what his upside is, but I'm interested to see what he can do in the bigs. He's shown the ability to draw walks (~10% in the minors) and practically everything he hits is a LD or FB. He doesn't have any split issues as a lefty bat either (hits lefties pretty well).
I'm not going to go all Justin Upton on him, but he doesn't look like a bad player. If the Jays can trade Pillar this winter then I'd be fine with giving McKinney a shot in one of the corners. Not like the team is competing. See what he has.
Transition year. One year deals for vets hoping to flip them and play or acquire flawed players with upside for reasonable cost to see if they can turn it around (Grichuk, Drury, Diaz types).
I think 2020 is when we will see a lot of young players on the mlb team at once.
Call me crazy but I think having Tulo around to mentor Bo will be a good thing. I mean no one is going to trade for him so might as well use his vetrin presents to our advantage.
I don't know what the payroll situation will be like next year but I think the team would rather not pay JD ~$20m even on a one year deal. I think they trade him in August or hope he declines the QO. I wouldn't have an issue with JD on a one year deal but I think payroll is going to slide substantially, and the Jays may want to see what they have with Drury, Gurriel, and eventually Vlad.
I like Grandy but would much rather see AB’s going to McKinney/Smith/Pompey types over last two months. Crazy that he wasn’t moved. No doubt he will be moved in August but surprised it didn’t happen today.
