I think the Jays will get fair value for Happ but it will be a lot less than people think. In other words, rentals don't go for what they used to, and Happ is clearly not a difference making level talent (good pitcher but that's about it). If we get a couple of B/B- level prospects, that's probably what I'd expect, nothing more. Now, if we were trading Happ and JD last trade deadline, when they both had an additional year of control, we might have been having a different convo.

He threw over 40 pitches and still couldn’t finish the inning. Yes it’s not his fault but errors happen behind you some times. If that causes him to throw nearly 50 pitches in 2/3 of an inning then not sure what else can be said. Betts working you into deep counts is understandable but he wasn’t the only one in that inning. -

Defence let Happ down but no excuse to throw this many pitches against New York and Boston back to back while not getting past the 4th inning in either start. -

This whole thing is playing out in the most blue jays way possible. Atkins is going to wait until one minute before the deadline to trade him, and by then Happ will either suck, get hurt, or both. -
Yeah gotta get the low minors lottery tickets. Cashman is too smart to trade the higher level ones so have to hope he trades some of the 18-19 year old's that are far away and develop them.

Wonder if Cashman would trade Medina for Happ. Thats the type of prospect a team might be able to steal from Cashman since he’s years away from the bigs with no performance to rely on yet.

Yeah unless I am misremembering, Romero fixed his walk issues for the most part (2009-11), but when his knees got messed up, then his control went to s***, and that's what ended his effectiveness.

Since when is Sanchez a fly ball pitcher? He has over 50% GB rate. Put a good defence behind him and he's the type who can beat his FIP (lots of grounders, average K rate).

Sanchez seems like a FIP beater type so the Rockies would probably love him. Maybe there’s something there if/when he ever gets healthy.

Selling off some vets and then trading for Jon Gray at the same time would be so awesome.

But they have a young roster, that figures to get younger next year when they replace Gardner with Frazier and probably add Sheffield to the rotation mix. It's not like they are AA's Jays in 2015 that were hanging on to their playoff window for dear life and needed to do something before an inevitable rebuild. The Yankees don't need to do anything desperate. They can risk the WC this year, keep their assets in case someone better becomes available in the winter, and go for the division for the next five years. Look at the prospects he gave up for 2.5 years of Sonny Gray. Basically three prospects on the back end of the top 100 prospects list. In this case we are talking 2 months of Happ. He's probably offering Billy McKinney and some others he doesn't want to put on the 40 man at the end of the season.

Yeah the Jays are in the driver's seat. Either get a good deal or keep him for next year. I'd still rather move him though as you can never assume relievers will be good year to year. His performance this year and that cheap team option should be very desirable.

Oh should get a good package. Really good reliever with a cheap ass option for next year. Clippard should get a nice lotto ticket at least.

Yeah not a fan of Vlad getting a Sept call up now that the team is way out of it. Putting him on a 40 man for no reason just for 50 at bats or whatever in Sept is stupid. Wait until May or June of next year (depending on whether you want the extra year or the extra year + avoid super 2).

The only way to get a good deal out of Cashman is to get someone really far away from the bigs (not enough data to know what you have yet) and hope they pan out later. Someone like Medina, but even that is doubtful for a rental. Cashman has to be desperate and he has no reason to be for Happ.

Yeah I’d be fine with anything that brings more value. Two months of Jd and Happ would certainly help a team looking to win a WS. The A’s did something similar with Hill and Reddick a couple of years ago. Don’t remember what they got back but I’m sure more than they would have by trading one.

Really hope Happ doesn’t get destroyed by Boston this week.

Yankees apparently after Machado (not to play SS). It would look awful to the mouth breathing public, but I wonder if the Jays could package Happ and Donaldson together to the Yankees. Enough for Frazier? Of course JD has to be alive by the deadline.

Knowing SJW's, if he's found innocent, then it doesn't mean he's not a woman beater. It just means there wasn't enough evidence in this particular case. There is no way of being innocent in this case. Not in the court of public opinion.

I’m curious what other teams are offering. Yankees no doubt willing to give up McKinney, but the other piece(s) would have to be worthwhile. That Cubs offer is ass. The Braves have a deep system and the Brewers have an outfield glut where the Jays could swoop in and get something undervalued. Really hope Happ does not s*** the bed against Boston.

I didn't see it, but maybe if he said "get up ball, get up, get up" with a bit more passion, it would have cleared the fence.

Just saw that Happ's next start will be at Fenway. Awesome.
