  1. Sorry, I didn't eat enough meat this morning. The vegetables affected my memory.
  2. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/09/victor-victor-mesa-free-agent-mlb-cuba.html The Jays have nothing left to spend right? Morales, Gurriel, Diaz.....corner that Cuban market. But if there isn't enough funds then I guess not.
  3. 5 milly for a guy who doesn't defend, hit, or care. Atkins will get flooded with offers I'm sure.
  4. Lol the Rays might end up with a better record than Cleveland despite CLE being in the worst division in sports right now and the Rays will miss the playoffs entirely. Get rid of divisions and let the five best teams make it (4th and 5th play the WC game).
  5. Yeah the Jays don't have nearly enough Sp depth to talk about Sanchez going to the pen. He only has two years of control left. Start him, maybe he does well for half the season and then trade him. But right now, him and Stroman along with Borucki are the only MLB capable Sp's on the team.
  6. JD 0-4 with a K in his Tribe debut.
  7. Sanchez is a Boras client who is a free agent after 2020. So he'll have a great year in 2020. That's all I'm certain of. 2019 is probably going to be inconsistency mixed with blisters again.
  8. Pinch hit Travis for Upton too. He’s trying to be loyal to all his players which is fine but annoying for a team that is way out of it.
  9. Gibby let SRF pitch way too long. Not sure what the point was after he gave up the lead.
  10. I don't see Vlad signing an extension. He comes from money and if he bets on himself for six years he will hit the open market at age 26/27 and easily get more than any extension he signs today will give him. Only risk is injury but he's only 19. At 19 we all think we are invincible.
  11. When people complain that Shapiro only targets position players, stuff like this should be brought up. Pitching prospects suck.
  12. Seriously. Sign that man to a lifetime contract.
  13. Shapiro was an Ed Rogers hire so as bad as Ed is, he probably wants to keep Shapiro around. It is Shapiro that may want out (based on the rumors) but hopefully his quote is genuine and he sticks around for a while. I think Rogers will let the team have one more bad season, but then put pressure on Shatkins to win in 2020. That seems like a Rogers thing to do.
  14. Good. I mean, I'd prefer Cherington sticking around as well, but keeping Shapiro (for the next two years and beyond) is the key. Having a baseball guy as the team president is so refreshing, as opposed to Paul "we plan to install grass in 2018 even though my contract ends in 2015" Beeston.
  15. Yeah I think this needs to happen. Morales climbing back to a near 120 wRC+ makes him easier to move (still have to eat up salary) and Hernandez at DH gives McKinney an outfield spot. Have the AAA OF be Alford, Ramirez, and Smith/Davis. That’s pretty decent depth.
  16. Damn I hope Paulino can start. It's a long shot with his injury history but that's just the type of breakout candidate that can quicken a retool/rebuild/whatever the hell we are doing next year.
  17. Buck seems like the type who has whiskey next to his monitor during the games. He can't be thinking straight when he says half the stuff he says.
  18. True. That's why I think Travis is borderline because even though I don't see him as an everyday 2b anymore, he has at least stayed healthy this year.
  19. Agreed. Travis is borderline but I'd expect him to be gone too. Even though he has options left I'm sure the team would much rather have Biggio getting the reps at 2b in Buffalo than having to deal with Travis. Infield to start the year will probably be Drury, Tulo, Gurriel, and Smoak with Diaz off the bench. Maybe add an optionable IF who can cover all positions (definitely won't be Solarte and Travis can only play 2b).
  20. Buck saying "Get up ball, get up, get up!" on doubles in the gap now. Dude is out of his mind.
  21. I think Drury will start the season at third and then shift to second when Vlad comes up. Travis and Solarte are on their last legs with the org. Then Gurriel and Diaz will cover short when Tulo takes his 4 month vacation during the season.
  22. I’m not expecting much out of Harold Ramirez but he’s hitting enough to be added to the 40 man after the season.
  23. Yeah I wouldn’t mind if Gibby stayed since Gibby 2.0 is more than capable to manage in any situation (Gibby 1.0 was trash), but sounds like he may want out just as much as the front office wants a change. I don’t think he’ll get another job unless AA makes a managerial change in ATL, though. Teams are going younger and cheaper with managers now.
  24. 10 pitch samples are enough. 1 game is an eternity.
  25. Respect to Gibby for being able to change after Shatkins took over, but I don't see the big deal. Most managers are now analytical extensions of the front office. Gibbons will be missed based on his relationship with the players, but as far as actual decision making, managers are basically puppets now. As long as they don't hire a Dusty Baker/Buck Showalter type, we won't even notice the difference aside from no longer having entertaining inteviews before/after games.
