  1. The one thing worse than a bad team is an old bad team. That's what the Jays have been the last two years. In 2019..... Jansen 24 Tellez 24 Gurriel 25 Diaz 28 Drury 26 McKinney 24 Hernandez 26 Grichuk 27 ----------- Vlad 20 Of course being younger doesn't mean being good, but there's a bunch of guys there who hit the ball hard as hell and might be able to improve. That's something.
  2. None of that matters if JD accepts the qualifying offer. I think that was the whole point of the trade. They did not want him back in 2019, and it was looking like that was the only option if they gave him the QO.
  3. I'm fairly indifferent to Merryweather as a whole, but why does he "suck"? It's not his fault he got hurt and was promoted slow as dirt when he was healthy. It's not like he throws high 80's and gets by with deception. Seems like he sits in the low to mid 90's with two other pitches. He might end up being nothing, but I'm pretty sure no one ever heard of him prior to this trade, so seems pointless to dismiss him or hype him up at this point.
  4. Angel "fire me and you're racist" Hernandez. His job is safe.
  5. Boone's going to get roasted for bringing Severino out for the 4th. Not watching the game so not sure how he looked or what his pitch count was after 3, but bringing in Green after the damage was already done seems like a really pointless move.
  6. Pearce definitely looks good at 1B. Why the Jays put him in LF when he's a walking injury risk and can't play the outfield anymore beats me. A lot of value lost.
  7. They were a .500 team in record and run differential against non Central opponents. I think below .500 record. They have some really good talent but as a team are overrated. They deserve to get swept out of the playoffs by a clearly better team. When 47% of your games are against Min, KC, CWS, and Detroit, and you finish with the same record as the 3rd place team in the East, then no sympathy from me. Get swept and let real teams play in October.
  8. Damn where the hell did Muncy come from? He’s been a beast this year.
  9. Lol at that strike on Acuna.
  10. Kratz not only still playing but starting on a playoff team in 2018 is insane.
  11. Merryweather might pitch in ST, but I doubt he breaks camp with the team. They will probably take it slow with him and then ramp it up towards the middle of the year. Best guess, if he stays healthy, is he will make an appearance on the roster towards the end of the year (Aug/Sept) and then be a rotation candidate for 2020.
  12. 1–1 heading to Yankee Stadium. This series is already great. Can’t wait for the next three games.
  13. The Yanks kill lefties so it's a bad match up but October is in Price's head.
  14. Braves, Rox, and Indians all down 0-2. The best teams are winning. The Yankees/Red Sox is the coin flip series.
  15. Had a feeling he would. Cashman does not make bad trades, but he might live to regret getting Stanton. Nine more years of old man skills until age 37 (and even his walk rate has never been elite, just good/really good most years). It's just a matter of how many good years the Yanks will get out of him before he falls off a cliff.
  16. If Stanton K's here, NY fans are going to s*** all over him.
  17. The Jays traded 8 players (for 13 players) at the deadline, and only teams in contention usually make additions mid season, so makes sense to see so many ex Jays. Only Loup of the players traded is not in the playoffs.
  18. I wouldn't count the Yankees out. If Sale is healthy he is hard to beat, but the rest of their staff isn't unbeatable. I think the playoff stuff is in Price's head so I'm interested to see how he does when he starts.
  19. I have the Yankees winning this series in 5, but damn the Red Sox have an amazing lineup. Yankees might be better served to bring Green soon. Three runs is manageable, but anything more than that with the way Sale has looked will be tough.
  20. The two best teams in baseball (depending on how you feel about Houston vs. NY). Should be a great series, not only in terms of quality, but for baseball. ESPN First Take actually started with baseball after the AL WC game, and the only time that show pretends baseball exists is if there is a DV or PED scandal. Manfred must be loving this.
  21. Houston beating down Cleveland and exposing them as the undeserving playoff team that they are would be great. Nice start to the series. You ain’t facing the Central anymore, Cleveland.
  22. Yeah, and Sanchez has the hard groundball/FIP beating potential that might make him more attractive to Colorado. I think that's a solid starting point to a trade if the Rox have devalued Gray enough to not even carry him on the post season roster.
  23. Atkins talked about trades being more likely than free agency. This is the guy to go after. Value is down, three years of arb left, dumn org trading him. Find a way to make his happen.
  24. I was going to suggest Sanchez for Gray, but even that might be too much now. Damn. Shatkins needs to be all over this.
