I think the main difference between 2017-18 and 2019 is that in 2019 we will have five months of a generational talent coming up after a month, and the roster as a whole is getting younger regardless of what you think of the actual players (Jansen, Drury, Gurriel, Grichuk, Diaz, Hernandez, McKinney, etc). I’m not expecting the team to compete in 2019 but I wouldn’t rule it out. The twins won the WC2 in 2017 and the A’s will win it this year. It’s not a lofty goal.
I agree with BTS. If there’s friction between Rogers and Shapiro, then I want the team to be competitive in 2019. Doesn’t mean make stupid short term moves but don’t tank.
