  1. Alford has had K issues in AAA for two years. Even if he turns into a contributor, he is likely going to K a s*** ton. He needs consistent playing time, but he's so prone to injury it's going to be hard to rely on him. He's out of options after this season so I'm guessing he will be the 4th OF in 2020. Hopefully he shows a 4th OF skill set at the very least.
  2. Pitchers batting is so stupid. God damn just add the universal DH already.
  3. Wonder who the prospects were.
  4. Since the start of the 2016 season (not counting today), Grichuk has a 99 wRC+ in 1919 plate appearances. I mean, a league average hitter with good defence is a decent player, but not someone I'd want batting anywhere near the top of the lineup, especially when his OBP is so bad. Of course the Jays hitters are young/not established yet, so where he fits in the current lineup is debatable. If everyone is healthy, I'd say 6th is the highest I'd put him (Bo-Biggio-Vlad-Gurriel-Smoak being ahead of him). I'm still holding out hope that he somehow breaks out next year unexpectedly like Smoak did. I remember reading they were tinkering with his swing, so maybe that might explain some of the down season, but it's not like he's going anywhere, so hope for the best.
  5. People getting upset at losing DSJ, Bergen, and Romano was hysterical early in the season. Atkins hoards prospects like crazy. He kept Pompey's corpse for years despite seeing nothing out of him because he doesn't like losing players for nothing. Yet people still overreacted to losing either marginal at best talent or RP's (Romano might end up being something out of the pen). Unfortunately with the Jays adding more talent, and having to make more 40 man roster decisions, it is only going to get worse when we lose a marginal talent in the rule 5. Twitter is going to explode when Andrew Sopko is taken. Or does it have to be an AA guy?
  6. $50 million reasons why we are stuck watching him play everyday and bat high in the lineup. Somehow, Kevin Pillar is hitting better than him this year. Hopefully this is just a down season (like Smoak in 2016 after his extension) rather than a sign of things to come. Hitting like crap for 3 months and then getting hot in July/August is already getting old.
  7. Don't really know what we have in Gonzalez unless someone has a report on his stuff/velocity. But a minor league RP and a low minors lottery ticket sounds about right for a return.
  8. Old school starters like Verlander are so much more fun to watch than all the opener BS around the league. You know when you give him the ball you have a great chance of winning and that he will go deep into the game (umpiring permitting). Glad to see pitchers like him still exist.
  9. Damn Springer destroyed that. Thornton started the game so well, but then the wheels fell off.
  10. I hate the NFL/football, but it's clearly the most popular sport in North America. Would be a huge boost for Toronto if they ever got a franchise.
  11. https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/marcus-stroman-wins-pr-battle-blue-jays-await-true-results-deal/ "And so, they made their second Sunday swap – having earlier sent Eric Sogard to the Tampa Bay Rays for two players to be named later, whom they will pick from a group of four pitchers in the lower levels of the minors, according to an industry source."
  12. Well, the PTBNLs are allegedly two pitchers in low A, so Todd is either a credible source or he took one hell of a realistic guess. His mod status should be granted regardless.
  13. SWR: 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K Since the trade: 6 GS, 2.54 ERA, 28.1 IP, 18 H, 7 BB, 29 K, 1 HR 18 year old making A+ look like a damn breeze. Wonder if he starts in AA next season.
  14. Hatch now has 34 K's and 2 BB's in 35 innings and a +50% GB rate since the trade. He turns 25 next month so not a youngin, but add him to the list of AAA SP depth in 2020. The more, the better.
  15. Beeston claiming they were going to replace the turf eventually and then giving a time frame so far away that he knew he wouldn't be around to answer for it was genius. He got ahead in life for reasons like that.
  16. Kloff with 5 K's through 3. Looking good.
  17. Drury I can understand, but McKinney baffles me. He legit has no tools. Doesn't do anything well. With Fisher you see power, speed, and walks. Maybe you can turn that into something. Drury can play D at 2B/3B and might have some untapped power potential. With McKinney I don't see a single thing. Not even versatile because he's a bad defender in every OF spot. Maybe he can play 1B once in a while, but that's not a valuable skill. Hope he's moved in a DSJ type of move in the winter.
  18. Yeah I was debating putting him 7th ahead of Pardinho and Kay, but went with the pitchers instead. I'll say 7-10 is interchangeable for me depending on preference.
  19. 1. Pearson 2. Groshans 3. SWR 4. Manoah 5. Martinez 6. Moreno 7. Pardinho 8. Kay 9. Kirk 10. Kloff
  20. I expect the Jays to trade him in the winter if he has a healthy September. Someone, I think Heyman, mentioned prior to the deadline that Giles wants to stay in Toronto, so maybe an extension is doable, but one year away from free agency after this season and a big arb number points to a trade.
  21. Yeah I remember he had really good stat cast numbers last season (EV, LA, barrels). Now that is starting to come back after a bad start, combined with a good BB%, and he's playable in the OF. Not a star, but looks like he might be a big league regular if he keeps it up.
  22. Damn I'm actually somewhat intrigued by Teoscar now. Walk rate now at 10%, power has come back, and even a passable OF defensively.
  23. He has power and can draw walks. Too many GB's and contact issues. So there is good and bad with him. Some times those types can surprise, especially in today's game. Like I said I'm not expecting anything great out of him, but between him and McKinney, it's a no brainer. One has tools/some upside, the other does not. Agree about Alford. He's a long shot as well, but the Jays can afford to take risks on boom or bust types.
  24. I've seen it posted on this forum multiple times, and on Twitter, so you might be alone in hating that nickname. I'm more partial Montoyost, but can use either one depending on the situation. I realize I'm BS'ing with you, but you're taking everything seriously, so I'll stop here.
