  1. Just based on how he looks, Dioner Navarro is probably a decent comparison. Navarro was a top prospect once upon a time with good minor league numbers at a very young age. He also reached the bigs at 21, though that was after stints in AA/AAA. Hopefully, Kirk ends up having a better career, especially on the defensive end where Dinner was very bad.
  2. McKinney claimed by the Brewers. End of an era.
  3. I think if you had Tampa's outside the box thinking but with the White Sox roster (young, super talented, charismatic, marketable, etc), then it would be less annoying. It's just that they do what they do in addition to having the most white meat, dull, super bland roster ever (combined with all the other crap they do as already mentioned). They'll never have a franchise player anymore because they'll trade him as soon as he's arb eligible. They'll never have fans because of the location of their stadium. Their style of play is literally the embodiment of what baseball is trying to get rid of. If you ask young non fans about what they find boring about baseball, they'd unknowingly describe the Rays almost perfectly. You can appreciate that they get so much out of so little, but it's still bad for the game. At least the Moneyball A's had players opposing fans would be able to name. The Rays are just so boring.
  4. If the Rays were a fun team to watch with identifiable stars, a rabid fan base, etc, etc, then I would be more lenient with their stuff. But that’s not the case. They are dull as s***. They have a poor fan base. Their stadium is garbage. They trade someone the moment that player is making a 7 figure paycheck, or they’ll trade someone the moment that player isn’t making 20 cents on the dollar of what they are actually worth. They are bad for baseball in every conceivable way. If expansion won’t happen any time soon, then they should absolutely move to Nashville which has a lot of potential and would likely appreciate a good team a lot more than the Tampa area has.
  5. Villar better start doing something positive.
  6. The pitching matchups for the Yankee series are scary.
  7. I never understood the love for the Rays either. They have great player development, no doubt about that, but nothing about them is fun or 'cool' as a fan. Never mind the s***** stadium, non existent fan base, and boring style of play.
  8. Villar can f*** anything up on the baseball field. Don't underestimate him.
  9. I wish Panik’s hot streak started earlier. Villar is f***ing awful.
  10. Back to the questionable lineups, with a sprinkle of playing a vetrin over someone with actual potential. This is more Montoyo's style.

Boston was the worst matchup in the Eastern Conference for the Raptors. Still, went to Game 7 and could have won it despite Pascal not having a single good game in the entire series. I agree post-Lowry life looks a little bleak, but hopefully Giannis is just around the corner. Just have one more transition season, preserve cap space, get a good 2nd round showing, and then gear up for the Greek Freak.
  12. Wags definitely taking one for the team tonight.
  13. Just saw the Jansen play. Kirk better be starting tomorrow.
  14. Yankees are going to sweep a DH, so Jays 2nd place lead will be down to 0.5 by the end of tonight.
  15. Smith swinging on 3-0 with his team up 4 is disgusting.
  16. I was expecting an L tonight anyway with degrom pitching, so not a big deal if we lose this one (try to win the next 2), but I really hope Shatkins is done chasing the Roark’s and Anderson’s of the world. Aim higher.
  17. If the Jays have a shutout in them, this is the game to do it.
  18. His option clock starts earlier than it could have. That's the only "drawback", but honestly, I don't care. When a player is ready and/or an upgrade to your roster, call them up. Kirk is an upgrade. Period. If he needs to be sent down to begin 2021, that's fine. The only potential issue here is that it will take up a 40 man roster spot which could mean we lose someone in the off season. Moreno is rule 5 eligible, so that's a possible risk (though doubtful someone will take an A ball catcher).
  19. Villar at DH today instead of Fisher. In case you thought Fisher would get more of a look with all the injuries.

One win was off a miracle 3, and another was in double OT. Asking for another win with Siakam wetting the bed all game is a lot. He doesn't need to drop 40 or anything, but at least hit his seasonal (pre bubble) averages. The good thing is he's at least playing good defense despite the bad shooting/offense. If he can just have one good game in game 7, it will go a long way.
  21. The problem with Vlad is that aside from the bat, he brings nothing else to the table. Overweight, bad base running, no defensive value, lower-than-expected baseball IQ, etc. The one positive is that once he does figure it out with the bat, he's going to be a beast, but until then it's basically like having Kendrys in the lineup.
  22. If anything, Atkins is stockpiling fatties. The fatter, the better.

Siakam can't do anything when guarded by the Celtics guards (Brown and Smart in particular). This is a real bad matchup for him. Regardless, he's the key to game 7. He hasn't had a good game all series, and he was awful in game 6. He needs to step up big time in game 7 for the Raptors to have a chance.
  24. It would have been hard to move him even in a normal season, but the off season after a truncated season with no fans, I doubt any team wants to touch Roark's contract. Best case would be moving him for an equally bad contract. The only one I can think of is something like Familia on the Mets. Then again Shatkins loves SP depth, even if it's below average, so I think they hold on to Roark. His best attribute (staying healthy) will mean more over 162 games. Maybe use him in the Sam Gaviglio 2019 role and just have him mop up innings to save the pen.
  25. I see Roark's point, but a s***** pitcher facing a lineup for the 3rd time in a tie game is probably not the high percentage move. I would have kept Roark in to see if he could eat up 5 innings (just because the pen is so overused/depleted), but I saw no issues with pulling him after 4 since Stripling could eat up 3-4 innings right after. It just didn't work out. I guarantee if the Jays signed Trevor Bauer this winter, he wouldn't be pulled after 4 in the same spot. How good the pitcher is makes a pretty big difference. Roark is a below average 5 IP starter. His best attribute is staying healthy.
