  1. Uh.. the Rays are locked in at Tropicana Field until 2027. Unless there's something you know about what's going on in that organization and MLB..
  2. Apparently, the rumor is that Shapiro is expected to fire Gibbons next and bring in his own guys.
  3. At this point, it's anybody's guess where Chris Davis goes.. I can't see the O's shelling out for him.
  4. Gomez is injury-prone and missed a good chunk of September with the Astros, and Fiers had a 4.03 FIP/4.04xFIP/3.84 SIERA. He's a regression candidate. And his 89 mph fastball would get clubbed out of Rogers Centre (he gave up 24 bombs between Milwaukee and Houston.) Jays made the right move..
  5. Super Two statuses announced: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/10/list-of-2016-super-two-qualifiers.html Expect the Rays to deal one of their pitchers(Karns/Odorizzi/Ramirez/Smyly)--Erasmo Ramirez qualified for Super Two status, lessening the Rays financial flexibility for 2016 and beyond, as his salary will increase substantially . Chris Archer is already on a long-term deal, so that qualification means nothing, and Moore's already locked up.
  6. Who's a bigger train wreck tonight? FOX's World Series broadcast, or Tristan Thompson on the Cavs?
  7. Well Vasgersian works for MLB Network after all..
  8. Oh good Vasgersian.. can we stay with these guys? But this is embarrassing for FOX..
  9. LOL FOX... wish MLB International was still doing games.. at least we wouldn't be dragged down by FOX Sports doing something stupid..
  10. And that HR will guarantee Cespedes is DHing tomorrow.
  11. That is some sh****y defense by Cespedes! An inside-the-park home run!
  12. The low payrolls were by necessity--Cleveland is one of MLB's smallest markets. And BTW, the 2005 team would've made the postseason in the 2nd wild card format.. they went 93-69, yet missed the playoffs due to Chicago's dominance. After the core pieces of the 1995-2001 dynasty left, the franchise was a wreck. This team right now is comparable to the Rays.. good pitching in the system, but unable to buy bats due to attendance careening after 2001, as the love affair with Jacobs Field wore off, as the team failed to win a World Series. If they could develop some hitting, this Indians team would improve immensely.
  13. Nope. Not happening. Unless KC wants to pay upwards of $70-80M for 4 players (Escobar, Moustakas, Cain, Hosmer), at least two of those players will be traded away after the 2016 season (if not sooner). And of course, Gordon's expected to get a massive raise and expected to leave KC. Those lousy Vargas and Infante deals don't help. And Moustakas, Cain and Hosmer are expected to get significant raises.
  14. Around $150M US. They'll add some pitching and bullpen help with the money coming off the books and playoff revenues. Don't be surprised if Estrada gets resigned.. despite his strong season, he won't be getting huge money and contract length due to being a late bloomer when he got to Toronto. We'll also likely add a big name starter in addition as well. And FYI, I don't see the currency being an issue.. it is unlikely the Canadian dollar will stay this low long term, as oil prices are likely to rebound back to about $60-70/barrel or higher within the next year, which will likely drive our currency to about the 80-85 cent range.
  15. Our team's health is much better than KC's.. they may have gotten to the World Series, but their future is really dicey after this season, as the core gets expensive and Gordon leaves. And 2017 could be ugly for them.. after that season, their entire offensive core hits free agency. And it's certain all of them will be headed elsewhere.. no way the Royals can afford to keep this roster together being in such a small market.
  16. Ventura should be quiet.. karma will bite him if he pulls this crap vs. the Mets, whose pitching staff is much better than him.
  17. And of course, with payroll constraints and the rising Twins and Indians, KC will not be back here again for a while after this season. KC stands to lose a lot in free agency.
  18. 4-game sweep for the Mets. New York's pitching is far superior than Kansas City, and we all saw them struggle vs. Bumgarner in last year's World Series. Harvey/Thor/DeGrom/Matz is much better than anything the Jays put out.
  19. Good luck to the Royals in the World Series.. this is basically their last chance to win a title, as Zobrist, Cueto, Young and Gordon are free agency, and the roster's going to get beyond KC's price range.
  20. Ned Yost just screwed up there.. better hope Davis doesn't blow up coming in now to try to keep this game tied.
  21. Rogers is likely hedged for any moves in the Canadian dollar, and the likely next move for our dollar is upwards, not down, especially when oil prices rebound and the US fails to raise interest rates because of a pending recession and looming QE4/NIRP(negative interest rate poolicy) Plus, luxury tax bills are priced in US dollars, so this isn't an issue. Besides, it wasn't an issue in 1992-93, when the Jays had the highest payroll and attendance in the majors.. it won't be an issue now if the Jays are winning and filling Rogers Centre.
  22. Which likely means big payroll boost coming in 2016 regardless of whether the Jays get to the World Series or not. So we'll have a shot to keep Price and/or sign a starter or two.
  23. Book those World Series tickets at Citi Field! Now we wait to see if it'll be the Royals or Jays repping the AL..
