  1. This is a tough call. Cleveland has not actually been a good team as of late. They're aren't hitting (Swisher, Cabrera, Santana and Kipnis are struggling), they sent down Nyjer Morgan just because of Michael Bourn's awful contract(he SHOULD be up in the majors right now.) And outside of Zach McAllister, all of their pitchers have been hit around and/or have control problems. BTW, I know somebody related to John Axford, the Indians closer.
  2. Luckily, we're out of the cold. with it supposed to be in the 50s by game time tonight. And I wouldn't worry unless it becomes frequent that we lose. Besides, if we're panicking at a .500 record, then what's going on in Tampa? At least we can score.. Tampa hasn't scored much all week, and now their pitching is going south.
  3. I wouldn't be so sure. Cleveland's 7-8 and 4 of their 5 starters have ERAs north of 5 and are frequently hit around, with serious regression in Salazar and Kluber. Look at some of their regulars hitting: Swisher .164 Santana .157 AVG Kipnis .212 Cabrera .218
  4. Well, the good news is that Cleveland's pitching is pretty crappy.. but still, what was wrong with Santos?
  5. Either it's cold, or Santos was hiding an injury if he was incredibly wild like this. Just seems odd for him to walk 3 batters. Happ, on the other hand, sucks. No more cold after this, as Cleveland is calling for temps in the 50s most of the weekend, and near 70 on Sunday.
  6. No kidding. Miller completely blew that play. Either Reyes, Diaz or Goins gets that ball..unfortunately, McClendon prefers to play the "best SS in the AL.." which he isn't.
  7. And McClendon wasn't smart either.. why the heck didn't they just intentionally walk Martin??? You had Arencibia on deck, a guy hitting .083!
  8. d'Arnaud's playing time in jeopardy: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/84609/recker-likely-to-see-increased-playing-time?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Wasn't d'Arnaud supposed to make us regret trading for Dickey? I'm not seeing it so far. Oh, and his defense has been bad as well. Gotta wonder if the Mets will go to Recker more, or even consider promoting Teagarden or Centeno(who's hitting .292/.433/.333 in Vegas and on the 40 man)
  9. Now let's see if his teammate Michael Pineda follows suit in the 2nd game tonight. Although against the Cubs, that shouldn't be too hard.
  10. When somebody in the Rays org. actually teaches them to hit and they get an actual bench. You think the Jays bench is bad, the Rays are even worse! Forsythe isn't hitting (.172), neither catcher can hit, Dejesus can't hit (.156), heck, even Kawasaki and Diaz have better numbers than Sean Rodriguez (.182). They can't expect to just get on via BBs.. they need to hit! And Wil Myers needs to wake up.
  11. Exactly. Ask the Yankees about Eduardo Nunez, who they lost to the Twins. And regarding Marcus Walden, he's basically AAA fodder for the RiverCats.. his stuff isn't anything special, and was very hittable in AA and AAA. We have better options.
  12. Karns is not MLB ready, as he is struggling in AAA. Alex Colome is currently under a 50-game suspension and won't be an option until about June.
  13. Rays can't exactly contend when 3 starters are on the DL for long periods of time (Cobb, Moore, Hellickson) and they're sending out garbage like Cesar Ramos (who is a bullpen arm) and Erik Bedard (hasn't been good since previous injuries). And the offense is horrid (14th in AVG, 12th in runs, 12th in hits). Longoria, Joyce and Zobrist are the only ones hitting. Without a supporting cast, forget it! And Wil Myers is hitting like he needs to get more seasoning in AAA. At this point, even the Jays are looking more attractive than the Rays or even the Red Sox.
  14. Nice win. Big reversal from last year, when we were 6-8 and JPA was batting 3rd..
  15. Terrible news for the Padres. On the injury front, more bad news for the Red Sox, as Napoli left the game dislocating his ring finger. If it's a fracture, he'll end up on the DL, making Carp/Nava the everyday 1B, forcing them to call someone from the minors.. and none of the options are terribly enticing.
  16. Lawrie with the slam! 9-2 Jays. This one's over. First place at the end of the night..
  17. Sierra walks. Bases loaded with 2 outs, as Burton looks awful.
  18. Where's the Red Sox offense? They're making White Sox pitching look good.. 1-1 in the 9th.
  19. Josh Johnson heading for Dr. James Andrews..
  20. Agreed. Twins pitching is 14th in the AL, and at the bottom in multiple categories. Most of their offense was due to playing bad AL Central teams not named Detroit. Remember, this Twins team got swept vs. the A's, an elite team.
  21. Small sample size, and many of those runs were scored off of bad pitchers such as Bruce Chen, Carlos Carrasco, an error filled game vs. Shields.. outside of Detroit, the AL Central is not very good. And don't be fooled by the White Sox's strong start, as bad pitching is offsetting any benefits of their strong offense led by Jose Abreu. And BTW, they're 9th in AVG, and Chris Collabello is due to cool off.
  22. Royals have a lot of issues. Alex Gordon is the only bat in that lineup hitting.. they're not walking, scoring or hitting HR (just 1!) The lack of offense and Bruce Chen are killing all the strong pitching they have in Vargas, Shields, Guthrie and Ventura.
  23. Rays pitching injuries are really exposing the lack of depth in their system: Peter Gammons: The inordinate strain of losing Cobb, Moore and Hellickson enlightens fact that Rays system is thin. 2010(5 of 1st 79 picks) and 2011(10 of 1rst 60 picks) produced 1 major leaguer(Derek Dietrich, traded for Yunel Escobar), no pitching. Should've traded David Price last offseason.. they are going to regret it if these injuries end up costing them the division.
