  1. Yanks pull out a win in St. Louis. We still pick up ground on the O's, though. 4.5 up now on the O's, but still 3 up on the Yankees. On to the Royals next.. could be a good series for the Jays, as the Royals cannot score AT ALL.
  2. What continues to kill the O's is their allergy to OBP and their awful starting pitching. They're actually desperate enough to blow the farm on Jeff Samardzija.. not really a good idea, considering his competition hasn't been strong in the NL, and I feel his numbers are a bit deceptive. Put him against the Red Sox, Yankees, Blue Jays, and other AL teams and that ERA will skyrocket..
  3. Thank (K)hris Davis for that big lead with his huge HR. Don't be looking for much help from the Yanks.. they're going to win unless the Cards offense jumps on David Robertson in the 9th.
  4. Rays aren't very popular in Toronto. The only Rays that are popular are at the Ripley's Aquarium next door. Plus, it's a weekday series.
  5. Two things.. it's a weekday series, and it's the RAYS. Nobody wants to see the Rays. Of course, outside of the Yankees, Red Sox and Tigers, road attendances are weak in the AL. Most of the fans prefer to watch NL teams such as the Giants, Cubs and Dodgers. Just be glad we're not Cleveland.. nobody wants to see that team at home or on the road.
  6. They're +2.0 ahead of the Yankees in the wild card race. They're in good shape. The 2nd wild card spot is a real clusterf***, though.. several mediocre teams are chasing the Yankees, such as the Orioles, Rangers, White Sox, Mariners and Twins. FYI, with the Blue Jays win, the Rays are closing in on the worst record in the AL and all of baseball for the first time since 2007. Yet, because of the Yanks mediocrity, they're still only 5.5 out, and even Houston is in the mix, at 6.5 back. Is someone going to pull away in the AL soon in the wild card along with the Angels?
  7. Tigers also have 6 games in hand and a number of makeup games due to rainouts in April. Otherwise, Detroit is DOMINATING the mediocre AL Central.. not as bad as the bottom of the AL East, but not great.
  8. Yes and no regarding others being an upgrade: Webster was lit up heavily in Boston last year, and has a 1.36 WHIP in Pawtucket, with continued control issues. De La Rosa is a bit difficult to call at the moment, since he has barely pitched in the bigs since his time with the Dodgers before his Tommy John surgery. But he might be the best chance to replace Buchholz at the moment. Barnes has been terrible in AAA, with 5.35 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP and command issues. Keep in mind these three are prospects.. until they pitch at the big league level, we can't guarantee what they'll do.
  9. This has been a major problem for Archer this season. He struggles to get through 5 innings, despite his strong K numbers.
  10. TJS list grows again. Sean Burnett of the Angels tore his UCL again.
  11. Buchholz to DL with a "hyperextended knee". Really? More like hyperextended crappy pitching.. either Webster or De La Rosa will replace him in the rotation. Not a great situation for Boston.
  12. Then explain why Seattle and Milwaukee have roofs. And doesn't anyone remember all the problems we had with the seagulls and fog at Exhibition Stadium?
  13. He was a decent prospect. Minnesota rushed him to the majors, and had some awful teams around him then.. remember, Hendriks was called up very young at 22, and has struggled to put things together in the majors.
  14. Here's the reason why we need a retractable roof stadium like Skydome/Rogers Centre: The main impetus for building an enclosed sports venue came following the Grey Cup game in November 1982, held at the outdoor Exhibition Stadium. The game was played in a driving rainstorm that left most of the crowd drenched, leading the media to call it "the Rain Bowl". As many of the seats were completely exposed to the elements, thousands watched the game from the concession section. To make a bad experience even worse, the washrooms overflowed. In attendance that day was then-Ontario Premier Bill Davis, and the poor conditions were seen by the largest TV audience ever in Canada (over 7,862,000 viewers) to that point. The following day, at a rally at Toronto City Hall, tens of thousands of people who were there to see the Toronto Argonauts began to chant, "We want a dome! We want a dome!"
  15. I meant a retractable roof, similar to Milwaukee and Seattle. And open air is unrealistic here.. last time we had that, it was a nightmare, considering Exhibition Stadium. And open air first is a joke.. explain why Miami has a retractable roof, considering they're the newest stadium.
  16. Part of the problem was due to bad timing, especially after Camden Yards and Jacobs Field were built. If the Jays were to build a new stadium, it would likely be similar to Milwaukee or Seattle.. we need a roof due to the cold spring and fall.
  17. No comment. But it's possible the Jays may do something regarding this later this summer. And it's not a dump.. they've been doing everything to improve it. Look, a new stadium would also have to have a roof as well. Doesn't anyone remember how much of a crudhole Exhibition Stadium was? It's part of the reason SkyDome was built. Might as well try to improve the current stadium than build a new one. BTW, they're ticked in Atlanta over the debate over their new stadium, because nobody got to oppose it, especially considering Turner Field isn't even 20 years old yet.
  18. Royals are being pummeled by the Astros right now. Not a good thing for the Royals, who have the Jays next, especially if their bullpen gets used heavily.
  19. The therapist just gave up HR to Juan Francisco! And Sean Connery is making fun of his bad pitching right now.. 9-4 Jays.
  20. Per Rotoworld: Royals manager Ned Yost said Tuesday that Yordano Ventura has been diagnosed with valgus stress overload. Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan notes that the condition does not bode well for Ventura's future, as it can lead to "cartilage damage, arthritis and bone chips," as well as "instability that leaves (the) UCL prone (to damage)." So, while an MRI has revealed that Ventura has no structural damage, it sounds like he's definitely not out of the woods yet. Royals general manager Dayton Moore told MLB Network Tuesday that he expects Ventura to miss just one start, but this could wind up being a long-term issue.
  21. Opposite field hit for Bautista! Now how about a HR?
