  1. Rays lose AGAIN and get swept on the Miami half of the home-and-home. Could be 12 games back, if the Blue Jays win tonight.
  2. When your biggest name is suffering a huge power outage (Longoria), your rookie RF (Myers) is struggling, the SS Escobar is regressing badly, and neither catcher hits, and the bullpen gets roasted frequently, you won't contend in any division.
  3. Forgot to also mention other chips, like Yunel Escobar and Grant Balfour, have zero value right now. And would anyone take Loney's backloaded deal?
  4. And the David Price/Ben Zobrist/Matt Joyce and possibly Evan Longoria sweepstakes will begin soon, once ownership orders an Expos-style fire sale in the next few weeks with no new stadium on the horizon and a bleak future looming on the field and with the stadium issue. Expect those players to be playing on contending clubs like the Dodgers, Giants, Brewers, Braves, Tigers, Yankees, Orioles and even the Blue Jays within 4-8 weeks(sorry, not convinced on the Red Sox at the moment)
  5. Jennings flies out. Rays lose. 11 games back. Even the 2007 team is better than this crappy team, even with the garbage pitching they had back then.
  6. I agree. Looks like they think everyone is watching this on smartphones and tablets. Not I.. I'm keeping an eye on games on my laptop.
  7. LOL.. what team would be stupid enough to pinch hit for their catcher in the 5th inning.. it just happened in Tampa. Desperate for offense, Joe Maddon just PH Jerry Sands for Ali Solis, which will mean Jose Molina will be coming in. Didn't this organization used to be one of the better-loved organizations?
  8. Randy Wolf is carving up the Rays lineup. How much longer before ownership decides to can the coaching staff, and possibly even Joe Maddon?
  9. My bet is Dodgers, Giants, or Rangers. Unfortunately, the value of Price and several of their vets have plunged since the offseason. Failing to trade Price last offseason for young offensive talent, and Longoria's power outage could cripple the Rays for many years to come. Oakland was smart to deal Cahill and Gonzalez, along with Bailey when they needed offense, since they had young pitching on the way. As a result, they're the best team in baseball, while the Rays plummet to depths that could get the team moved to Montreal when Sternberg decides to sell, when attendance plunges to Expos levels.
  10. And BTW, the new MLB.com Gameday sucks. Why did they change it???
  11. What a unmitigated disaster the Royals organization is in player development: http://www.kansascity.com/2014/05/31/5059231/the-royals-inability-to-develop.html Meanwhile, Kevin Seitzer is leading the Jays into 1st place.
  12. How are they going to say anything good when they're 10.5 games back of the Jays? Besides, the team is a huge mess. Escobar is bad (no wonder Toronto and Miami wanted him out), their bullpen isn't good, Hanigan is on the DL, Myers is having a sophomore slump, and their best players are Jennings, Zobrist, and the SP.
  13. Extrapolating the charts, I noticed Tampa Bay is in REALLY bad shape. Only Desmond Jennings and Ben Zobrist, along with the SP (mostly Price, Cobb and Archer) are above average. Longoria is below average due to his regression defensively, and Wil Myers isn't hitting at a decent clip, and is playing shoddy defense in RF, leading to such negative WAA in RF and 3B. And boy, do the Rays need a backup catcher other than Molina. His terrible numbers offset all the positivity Hanigan has brought at the C spot, and now Hanigan is on the DL. Is it a wonder the Rays are struggling?
  14. Found this on Baseball-Reference looking at season stats. http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/AL/2014.shtml Under Wins Above Average, Jays are 2nd at 5.8 Wins Above Average, being #1 at 1B and RF, and having strong numbers at 3B, LF, and the DH group of Lind/Encarnacion/Navarro/Pillar/Kratz/Francisco. It did say we were weak in the bullpen (-1.6, 14th in the AL), but this was before McGowan was moved to the bullpen and Janssen returned, and will improve. Jays SP is 3rd only to Detroit's elite starters and Houston (credit Dallas Keuchel for that). Only 5 teams are above average this season so far, in Oakland, Toronto, LA Angels, Detroit and the Yankees. All the rest of the league is below average, as pretty much already known.
  15. Should've left Daley in. Thornton just gave up a 2-run single to Arcia.
  16. Against the team that cut him.. really hurts for the Yankees.
  17. Girardi is dumb. Why are they going to Thornton when the game is pretty much out of reach and they have a makeup game vs. Seattle tomorrow?
  18. Really bad for the Yanks if they lose this one. They have King Felix tomorrow and the red-hot A's the rest of the week.
  19. Yet another loss for the Rays. 9.5 back now of the Blue Jays, 8 back of the Angels, and 7 back of a Yankees team that faces trouble ahead with King Felix on Monday, and a strong A's team this coming week. Boston's now only 3.5 back of a wild card. Still in the mix, but they need help from Seattle, Oakland, and Kansas City, which is where the Yankees are headed next.
  20. Loney, Dejesus, Escobar, Balfour, and possibly even Longoria if Sternberg orders a Expos 1995-style fire sale, which would not be surprising, especially if he feels no progress is being made on a new stadium.
  21. Yep, he is. But you can imagine they'll be checking for a concussion after the game.
  22. LOL Ramos... He missed the tag and then threw the ball past Loney for a base hit for Brock Holt. Joe Maddon must be wishing he was on a better ballclub right now.. with the team falling apart, he'll likely be demanding out of Tampa soon.
  23. JBJ hits a 2-run jack off of Cesar Ramos. 7-0 now. Things are really falling apart in Tampa. How long until their attendance drops to Expos level which leads the team to move somewhere else, possibly Montreal?
