  1. On the opposite end, the Jays have even more of a chance: Beyond the Box Score ‏@BtBScore AL teams that have the hardest remaining schedules based off opponents’ winning %: 1. Mariners 2. Twins 3. Rangers 4. Orioles 5. Angels Still got a shot at the division and wild card. Mariners get a fair share of Oakland, L.A, Baltimore and Detroit, and us(likely with everyone back by then).
  2. If AA wants to make some goodwill for the fans, he should make a blockbuster trade for a 2B/3B and/or a CF who doesn't strike out a ton and can hit lefties.. Rasmus is trash now. We could also use another starter, and maybe another bullpen arm. But he should be careful not to gut the farm.. look how the Angels are struggling to put together a trade package for Kennedy and Street from the Padres, who have told the Angels "Forget it!" because their farm has been gutted by signing big name free agents and making trades to try to win back in 2012 and 2013. And regarding the Yankees.. their record minus Tanaka is 35-43 (including bullpen wins/losses on Tanaka's starts.) Without Tanaka, the Rays and Red Sox would be ahead of the Yankees.
  3. Too bad the Yankees can't take advantage with Tanaka, Sabathia and others injured. As for the Blue Jays, we need to get healthy, pitch decently start scoring, and MAKE A FRIGGING TRADE FOR A BAT AND/OR AN ARM!!! Wake up AA! On the other hand, we have a good choice because the O's have one of the most difficult schedules after the break which could make or break their season (more likely to break.. they're against the A's, Angels and Mariners non stop until early-mid August.) Similar story for the Royals.. except their only hope is that the Mariners fade. Detroit's not going to go away.
  4. Guelph native Scott Diamond signs with the Reds. Good team to pick.. Cincy isn't exactly swimming with depth in the minors (and before anyone says anything, Cingrani is on the DL). Considering Holmberg's terrible start in the MLB recently, Diamond will likely get a callup if we see an injury in Cincy's rotation.
  5. Regardless, they'd better sign Aiken. Houston fans are threatening to stop watching the Astros if they screw up with Brady Aiken here, and it could be an issue in the next CBA.
  6. More from MLB Trade Rumors regarding Aiken: JULY 15, 6:35pm: The concern regarding Aiken involves his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL), a source tells Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle. “He may have some [of the ligament], but not much,” the source said, apparently referring to the natural size — rather than any tearing — of Aiken’s UCL. A hypothetical Tommy John procedure would not be a straightforward solution in Aiken’s case, the source adds. While the issue may be “cut-and-dry,” per Drellich’s source, it appears that its interpretation is the crux of the ongoing debate. The young lefty has seen two team doctors and three independent specialists (including Dr. James Andrews) to assess the situation, according to Drellich. Close, Aiken’s agent, told Rosenthal that his client “has been seen by some of the most experienced and respected orthopedic arm specialists in the country, and all of those doctors have acknowledged that he’s not injured and that he’s ready to start his professional career.” Drellich spoke with an expert orthopedist — Dr. Chris Geary of the Tufts Medical center, apparently not among those who have seen Aiken — who tells him that a congenitally small UCL would not necessarily indicate a greater risk of a UCL tear or lowered success rate if a TJ procedure became necessary. Geary indicated that further information would be necessary to assess Aiken’s overall susceptibility to elbow trouble, and said that other physical attributes could mean that he is perfectly capable of pitching without any particular concern. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Guess he'd better start learning a knuckleball like RA Dickey.. we all know Dickey didn't have a UCL and had the same issue with the Rangers.
  7. Selig dropping hints on future possible relocation to Montreal for either the Rays or A's: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2014/07/15/bud-selig-all-star-game-montreal-oakland/12683541/ More likely the Rays.. the stadium issue in St. Pete is getting nowhere, and the league will not continue to subsidize the Rays if they continue to bleed attendance playing in a terrible location, especially when a better option is around in Montreal, especially if they put it in the AL East, which would benefit both them and the Jays.
  8. True. But the Yankees are in the same boat with us, and won't have the pitching to survive in the 2nd half due to Tanaka's injury. All we need is the bats to get healthy.
  9. We definitely need to add another bat, and possibly another starter for the 2nd half. I mean, we're still in this, and anyone expecting the Orioles to continue their current pace will be disappointed, as they face a brutal schedule after the break which could easily sink their season, especially against elite West teams like Oakland, LA and Seattle. Hopefully by the next Rays series Price will be pitching elsewhere.
  10. Good inning by Dickey. Now we just need to find a way to hit Price.. third time through the order, though, so let's hope the Jays learned something..
  11. Same could be said for the Yankees and Orioles as well..
  12. Bautista wasn't getting Escobar even if he caught that.
  13. Good, we got out of it. But that frigging bloops Rays hitters get...
  14. BTW, Tampa's attendance is now worse in the AL again at 16,896.. you can imagine ownership is already preparing to order a Price trade. Luckily, Price is boosting his value with his strong performance.
  15. Anyone who thinks Tampa can get hot doesn't realize the franchise's problems.. and Price will be traded. The Rays can't afford his likely arb raise, and need many pieces in their farm if they're to remain a competitive team long term.
  16. You know, they said on Rotoworld that Kiermaier is headed for significant regression post All-Star break, because of his previous minors numbers.. at least we didn't let him hit this time. Still, walking him isn't great either.
  17. Buster_ESPN Buster Olney Orioles' second-half schedule: Brutal. Their first 26 games after the All-Star break are against teams with records of .500 or better AL East is still up for grabs.. Jays need to take advantage.
