  1. Eagles getting pounded early on by Chad Henne and the Jags.
  2. Well, EJ Manuel just scored. BTW, what's your bet that show Utopia flops?
  3. And Buffalo's O-line is pathetic early on, as EJ Manuel throws an incomplete..
  4. This piece in the Wall Street Journal isn't exactly saying good things about d'Arnaud's defense.. he should focus on catching the ball and not just framing. http://online.wsj.com/articles/n-y-mets-defense-a-flaw-in-travis-darnauds-game-1409790675 Sure, it helps the pitchers get strikes, but the PBs can really hurt with runners on base.
  5. Navarro. d'Arnaud's likely headed for the OF once Plawecki reaches the majors to protect him from concussions, negating any value he had at C. d'Arnaud if you regard pitch framing.. but his value is hurt by the 12 PB caused by trying to frame pitches for strikes. A -0.8dWAR doesn't help. By WAR, Navarro wins with a 2.0 WAR (2.1 oWAR, 0.4 dWAR) over d'Arnaud's 0.4 WAR (1.9 oWAR, -0.8dWAR) Just because the catcher is a good pitch framer doesn't mean he's good.. look at JP Arencibia. They have to at least hit a little bit and not kill the team with frequent K's and PBs.
  6. And if Seattle wins, the lead's down to 1 game on the 1st wild card.
  7. But Toronto holds the cards, because of the QO that will be put on him.. it is uncertain if anyone will want to give a draft pick for a player like this, even at $15M. And it's US media.. what do you expect?
  8. The Yanks owe $1.34B in debt on their bond payments for the stadium, and they are under pressure by bond rating agencies to contend. Multiple seasons of no playoffs and increasingly inflated payrolls, along with declining attendance could affect their ability to pay it off. That's why it may be difficult to continue sustaining these payrolls. Their outlook was cut by Moody's back last November.
  9. Yanks don't have a choice, especially with $64M left on that contract next season. No payroll relief is coming until 2017, when Tex, Sabathia, Beltran and Prado come off the books.
  10. Depends on the Yanks budget and A-Rod. They already have $180M (with benefits) committed to the 2015 roster, and may not be able to significantly raise payroll if the team fails to make the postseason. Keep in mind the Yankees have bond payments on the stadium to worry about, and lost revenues due to no postseason and declining attendance/TV ratings make it increasingly difficult to justify $200M+ payrolls along with huge luxury tax payments.
  11. Cabrera isn't going to the Yankees, especially with the Yankees having more significant needs at SS, SP and at closer, as David Robertson is due a massive raise via free agency. Besides, the Yankees already have Gardner/Ellsbury/Beltran.
  12. Well, the Tigers keep losing important games, like they are with the Giants.. losing a series to a good team does not help their hopes. Much of the problem is due to that bullpen and bad defense..
  13. Luckily, KC has 4 decent other starters, so they should still have a good shot of winning the Central, since the Tigers are pathetic.
  14. Which is a good thing for the Jays if they want to attempt to make the playoffs, since we have 4 left with the Mariners. But first, we need to cut the gap before that series in late September.
  15. Well, at least they're rebuilding the rotation with young arms rather than making another Josh Johnson style acquisition. And at least Gibbons and Gaston had winning records.. John Farrell, who managed the Jays in 2011-12, and the Red Sox presently, is below .500 as a manager (154-170).. Boston should've kept Francona, because Farrell is one of the worst managers in the MLB. And Gaston left because he was retiring (he's 70 years old.), and the Jays wanted someone younger.
  16. Despite the Jays loss last night, we only dropped .5 game in the standings, as Detroit stunk it up last night vs. the Giants, and the Mariners won. Oh, and the A's continue to slide.. lead's now down to 2, and could be gone completely if the Mariners sweep the Rangers, and the A's get swept by the Astros.
  17. Possible. We'll see what happens after this game.
  18. What a shame for Cabrera.. at least for the Jays they can get extended looks at Gose, Pillar, Pompey and Mayberry Jr. for the 2015 roster while still trying to contend.
  19. Francisco, Thole, Kottaras, Johnson are still available.
  20. 4. Seattle is winning as we speak. Oakland is probably the most worried, though.. a Seattle win and Oakland's only 2 up in the 1st wild card.
  21. Bad news for the Tigers.. the game is set to resume at 10:50, and I imagine MLB is demanding that the game gets at least 5 innings tonight to become official, because of its importance in the wild card and AL Central race.
  22. It's September, and we still have Mayberry, Kottaras, Johnson, Francisco and Thole. No need to worry about the bench.
  23. Brock Holt out of the game.. injury?
  24. McGowan gets out of it! Extra innings yet again..
