  1. All the playoffs are set: WILD CARD AL: A's @ Royals NL: Giants @ Pirates ALDS: LA Angels vs. winner of A's vs. Royals O's vs. Tigers NLDS: Nationals vs. winner of Giants vs. Pirates Dodgers vs. Cardinals
  2. Obviously. And hopefully a 2B as well.
  3. More teams are going to do this as salaries continue to rise.. especially as free agency continues to decline.
  4. BTW, 5-year policies are not just exclusive to Toronto. Boston is in the same boat.. and it's part of the reason neither of us will get Lester or Scherzer.
  5. He just doesn't want to trade starters.. bet he has nightmares over the Josh Johnson deal.
  6. Highly likely the A's lose. Martinez is being scratched because Holland is feeling better, and will start Sunday vs. Sonny Gray.
  7. Which means that if tied, OAK will have to fly to Safeco on Monday to play SEA. Then, the winner of THAT game goes to Kaufman Stadium in KC to play the Royals, or Comerica Park to play the Tigers. Potential 3 tiebreaker situations with KC/DET, OAK/SEA, and STL/PIT. Here's the situations: KC/DET tie: Detroit hosts OAK/SEA: Seattle hosts STL/PIT: St. Louis hosts We will see what happens. If it ends up with multiple ties, MLB and ESPN are going to have some issues..
  8. Royals lose. So at best, the Royals can only manage a tie if KC wins and the Tigers lose. Otherwise, they'll be hosting the play-in game vs. either the A's or Mariners (Mariners just tied it, Oakland has lost. And BTW, can someone calm those Mariners announcers down? They sound like they've been drinking tons of Red Bull.)
  9. Not over yet. Tying run coming to the plate vs. Javy Guerra in the 9th with Gordon at 1st. And since the Tigers lost, the Royals need a win and a Tigers loss tomorrow to force a Monday tiebreaker. Ditto for the Pirates, as the Cards are losing to Arizona. So it'll come down to the last day. And will someone tell Seattle to score?
  10. Day-to-day with hip irritation.
  11. Looking back, the only good news for Ervin is that he will get a nice contract by somebody this offseason.. the Braves didn't make the playoffs.
  12. Dodgers hopes of a deep playoff run took a big hit as Dee Gordon left the game with a knee injury.
  13. Rajai Davis just left with a groin injury... not a good time for it, especially considering the Tigers are trying to avoid the tie-breaker and/or Wild Card game if Kansas City ends up tying or catching them.
  14. Nice amount of young depth the Jays have.. a lot of teams (such as the Yankees and Tigers, who have lousy farm systems) wish they had that youth. Let's just hope they pan out.
  15. Guess they better prepare for the NL Wild Card game.. the Giants await on Wednesday.
  16. Agreed. And preferably, I would keep Castro and move him into the OF, possibly LF. Chicago is a little thin in OFs right now. I mean, they have 2B Arismendy Alcantara playing OF right now because of their IF depth. And considering his defensive issues at SS, Castro is likely headed for the outfield anyway within the next year or two.
  17. Watching the Yanks/Red Sox game.. they're talking about the next SS for the Yankees. Suggestion to the play-by-play guys.. None of their suggestions (Andrus, Tulo, Castro) are going anywhere, plus the Yanks don't have the prospect depth to acquire them. And HanRam is a 3B/DH playing SS.. And yes I know there is significant SS depth in Chicago.. but being so close to contention, Chicago will more likely move him to the OF than trade him.. they need OFs in Chicago along with pitching.
  18. Will you give that schtick a rest already? We get it already. We know we now have the longest streak. And Gibbons doesn't deserve to be fired.. he just needs better talent around him to coach. And Beeston's gone after this season anyway, as his contract is not expected to be renewed.
  19. LA Angels could be relocating to Tustin or even Los Angeles (possibly near the proposed stadium for a future NFL team.) Apparently, the Angels want to get out of Angel Stadium ASAP.. they don't really want to be there long term, because the stadium is badly aging, and hasn't aged well, and hasn't gotten similar renovations like Dodger Stadium got.. of course, Dodger Stadium is historic.. Potentially big blow for sports in Anaheim: http://m.angels.mlb.com/news/article/96526284/angels-walk-away-from-stadium-deal-with-anaheim
  20. Winning season for the Jays. Oh, and with the Jays winning, the playoffs are (almost) set: (#1) Angels vs. (WC) KC or DET or OAK (#2) Orioles vs. (#3) KC or DET
  21. Likely not from Toronto, though. Not even worth a QO at this point.
  22. Detroit doing its best to hand KC the division, trailing 4-0 to the Twins early on. Royals are up 2-0 early.
  23. Jays have nearly injured Tillman a few times tonight.. are they trying to help the Tigers out?
  24. Pretty bleak outlook for the Rays.. just build a new stadium already or move the team to Montreal! http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2014/09/25/rays-fighting-uphill-battle-to-keep-franchise-relevant/16216031/ That stadium that was planned should have been built.. and it's no surprise they're slashing payroll.
