    Coaches/Scouts are just advisors, All final decisions are his. His coaching staff wanted Sanchez to close and Thole on the team.

    I disagree. Discounting sequencing, The more PA's you give to better hitters the more value they can have. It may be a small difference, but it would exist.

    Somehow Gibbons will force a s***** hitter between them. Why can't Bautista hit second, He gets more AB's and OBP is his specialty.

    It would be a way to hedge that bet. I personally am hoping AA is thinking that pitchers have good numbers the first time through an order, so why favor guys that can only pitch one inning.

    They could be served well by having big league coaches. It's not about a desperate gm so much as wanting to win. If AA was desperate he would have moved more talent in the offseason.

    I wouldn't be surprised if Osuna gets sent down to be stretched out in a few months, If Sanchez gets moved to the pen it's guaranteed.

    My theory is that AA thinks using good starting prospects as relievers is a cheap way to build a talented bullpen. Having big league coaches and increased attention put on them may mean that it won't necessarily hurt their development either. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

    I feel like Sanchez would have been the 5th starter regardless. AA would have been able to keep Norris down for control reasons under the guise of giving Sanchez his shot to start because he is more experienced.

    Both scouts and projections think Travis will be better, Pretty bold to bet against that.

    I'm never a fan of demoting a good player to keep two replacement level players. Don't need them to hit and if Reyes goes down for a significant amount of time, they don't have a replacement player that would help the team in the org anyway, so they should just go with Goins as a defensive replacement.

    His lack of walks help mitigate the damage, but always giving up over 9 H/9 is the reason he has never been able to keep his ERA down. Also the lack of strikeouts means those outs would have gone through the BABIP outcome generator, so even if he kept his BABIP at league average the outcome would still be more hits than average. I'm sure you know this since it's what makes strikeouts so valuable.

    He had an ERA of 4.28 and 4.99 in the two full seasons his WHIP got over 1.4 and he has a career ERA of 3.8, Not to mention he is one baseballs biggest exceptions to the rules. If you have a 1.4 WHIP you will give up runs because of sequencing, The odds are higher that the pitcher will give up multiple hits or walks in a single inning, Those extra base runners have to go somewhere.

    You can't be a good pitcher with a WHIP over 1.4.

    The Kids would be a year closer to prime and you can sign someone for 20 mil in the offseason, No way would I trade Hoffman for Hamels. Jessica Alba is the perfect woman.

    That would be an over reaction to losing Stroman, Jays will be pretty much the same team next year.

    Hendricks doesn't have that former top prospect appeal, But if exposed he very well could be claimed. If he is claimed the spot starts will just go to Estrada, Just makes not having Osuna for depth more ridiculous.

    They would have to send Castro or Osuna to the minors before they could start, Spot starts will go to Estrada and Hendricks.

    It wouldn't be the worst, but If it can be avoided it should.
