    Tulo has 6 yrs 109 mil remaining. Min $98 mil over 5 years. As a FA he'd likely get 6 yrs $140-150 mil. So the contract is fine and might have some value. But he is basically on a FA type deal which never have much surplus value. But it doesn't mean he can't be traded for good pieces, just have to be creative. You won get long-term controllable established MLB starters on good deals like Carrasco. But you could get guys that are near FA with 1 or 2 yrs of control, like Tyson Ross, plus prospects. Something like this could work: Tulo Hutch Revere for T. Ross Cashner Melvin Upton - need to balance the money somewhat Prospects

    Sounds like GM by committee and LaCava is now guaranteed to be part of that committee.

    This talk about AA making the Jays money over this run is ludicrous. How about the money lost over the previous 5 years sucking? Or in the future when they suck again because he traded away prospects. Need to consider a long-term time frame not a single season, and need to consider what the performance of the average GM because the team is going to make a certain amount of money no matter what. What value over the long-term did he create that others would've have? One good run can be forgotten quickly. They need some sort of performance above replacement for GM's and execs, value created above replacement (VCAR)?

    Yes there a lot of sins. But why just ban gays and transgenders from bathrooms? We should just have 1 simple rule: only those without sins can use bathrooms from now on. This should take care of the long line ups at the Sky Dome bathrooms.

    The team should be very good even with a patch work starting pitching rotation. A problem that might arise in the 2nd half is that we don't have the prospect depth to make any significant adds at the deadline. On the field we have depth at every position except 3rd and C (unless Navarro is brought back). So a Donaldson injury would really suck. We also wont be able to rent an Ace this year. We can hope Stroman develops into one but he needs some backup.

    I think the point is that this discrimination has no basis in the actual teachings of Christ. Jesus did not teach hate, intolerance, etc. yet people like Lance continue to use Christianity as a crutch for it.

    Agreed, definitely should extend a QO. The outcomes are all favourable: He accepts - you over pay slightly for 1 year but you avoid the risk attached to a long-term contract for a 1 year wonder. Considering where the Jays are on the win curve and contention window, the over payment is worth it. Plus, if he is great again you can QO again. He declines - you pick up a draft pick or you resign him still, but you gain leverage by attaching a cost of a draft pick to him. I think he declines but the QO is an easy decision. Ideally the rotation is Stroman, FA, Estrada, Dickey, 1 of Hutch/Osuna/Sanchez (let these guys compete for a rotation spot).

    Why would they mention every offer, their last offer was a 5 year deal with opt out after 1 and AA rejected and that's what they've said.

    I liked AA but he hasn't exactly built a sustainable winning environment here. He's made the playoffs once and had to trade the majority of our prospect capital to do it.

    Wow Shapiro is a fool if he wants to tear this down. He will become public enemy #1 and kill all the goodwill the team now has. They have to atleast try to go for it again next year or there will be a fan base riot. After 20 years of fan apathy you finally bring them back and then throw it away? It will take 20 years to rebuild it again.

    lol at the thought that Bautista cares about your respect level for him. In this context its the team respecting him via money, not the fans.

    The standard for Goins hitting is so low that he hit .250 with a .318 OBP and suddenly people are saying he hit well this year? He went from absolutely useless to just a normal bad hitter. With his defense he can be a useful player still and I am glad he is on the team. But perspectives are messing peoples views here, Tulo puts up the same stats and he's accurately seen as hitting terribly. Goins is terrible hitter who had one stretch of not being totally useless.

    I am not assuming anything, those are the listed starters per Yahoo. Regardless, Price > Hamels anyway. If they slot in Perez for Lewis we are still favoured in that match up with Estrada. The Rangers should have went Hamels game #1 and #4. That would have given them a better chance at forcing a game 5 were anything can happen.

    So the pitching match ups look like this: Game 1: Price vs Gallardo Game 2: Stroman vs Hamels Game 3: Estrada vs Lewis Game 4: Dickey vs Holland Game 5: Price vs Gallardo Gallardo has been good vs the Jays this year, but Price is Price. Hamels good, but Stroman has been better. Every match up favours the Jays. Back in June it would have been crazy to expect that.

    Cecil's number is wrong and they are re-doing it. Revere is getting expensive but is a good fit for the team in LF (contact/speed). I would let Saunders and Delebar walk.

    Nah its all fluff. The character stuff is just content for media to spew out some articles. AA upgraded the talent at every position that needed it, that's the difference this year.
