  1. Is there a dedicated thread for the Jays farm system? I couldn't find one. Anyway, has anyone looked at the Bisons stats recently? Remember that Liam Hendricks guy? Originally DFA'ed by the Twins to make room for Phil Hughes, picked up by the Cubs, who lost him to Baltimore, who lost him when he was DFA'ed for by the Cubs. Baltimore lost him to the Blue Jays when they made room for Ubaldo Jimenez. He has looked better than Stroman actually, check out his BB/K (it's 1:26) ratio, it's ridiculous... http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=t_ibp&cid=422&stn=true&sid=t422
  2. That sounds like something I should tattoo on my thigh.
  3. Not in my scenario presented in this thread, wher we DFA Happ, Rogers and Redmond. McG's stretched, somewhat. I'd like him that 2-3 inning guy out of the 'pen. Deal with that filth, rest of baseball.
  4. That was such an awesome moment, though. Bautista has some moments like that. I remember he was brushed back twice in at bat then hit a dinger. I also remember him getting some bad strike calls then coming back and hitting a dinger. He's clutch.
  5. Wagner should close at this point, with Delabar and Santos not getting the job done. I'm not wanting pity taken on Wagner, I want him to save some f***ing games. To me, McG > Redmond if you want 2-3 innings out of the 'pen.
  6. When you have other guys that are better for the pen, some languishing in the minors (Wagner), some who shouldn't be starting (McG), you've got to. McG can be that longman.
  7. That xFIP is still below average. He's hot garbage. Happ is owed too much to DFA. But in my dreamworld, we DFA both and call up Wagner and Stroman. Crazier still, DFA Rogers and have an extra bench player. We have a logjam of fodder who can't be used in high leverage situations. Even farther? I'd make Wagner the closer.
  8. Gibbons can't pitch relief, so don't blame him for this season. What the Jays can do now is sign Drew, demote McG to the bullpen because he's effective in long relief and no one else is right now, call up Stroman, DFA Redmond, and we're good to go with the talent to finish with a barely above .500 team.
  9. King, those Sierra GIF's are gold!
  10. I'm not sure I trust Seitzer's judgement. He said he could make a man out of Goins, and he did significantly worse than last year with his "new approach". My prediction, Goins never plays or the BJ's again.
  11. I agree with everything, but I would DFA Redmond. I think Rogers has a higher ceiling. EDIT: Hah- just read G-Snarls post. Great minds think alike
  12. I think, back in the day, companies could buy tickets and write them off easier than now, right? Some major tax loopholes have been closed, so I think a lot of ticket purchases were companies looking for tax breaks. Can anyone confirm that? Sort of before my time. Also, I am not a company and have no company tax awareness
  13. That's right, I think he will be using an insulin pump during the game. It should definitely help keep his levels in check. In the CFL, an all star DE named John Chick uses one (he was in the NFL for three seasons, too) and he's been very effective. Hopefully that solves the Morrow issues with fatigue.
  14. 11-3 Boston. Dickey will look filthy for 4 innings, then walk 2-3 batters, grand slam, and the bullpen will continue to suck #rut
  15. I hope so. Okay, how long before Stroman is promoted? Would it take one more bad McG start?
  16. In sum, our best horses can't compete with their best horses. Time to go back to the drawing board and sell. I honestly don't see another choice.
  17. they should just pre-emptively give him TJ. Just kidding. Lighten up.
  18. Sometimes velo goes up right before the ligament tears off. Not always.
  19. Okay, this is probably comparing apples to oranges, but what if by late June there IS a fire sale, and all the Edwin's, Bautistas, etc. are sold off for great prospects, etc. We could hopefully shed the MB abd Reyes contracts, too. Anyone making more than $5M. Maybe include Rasmus, if we get a better deal for him than offering a QO. We could have the best farm system in the majors and have a low payroll. We could choose to extend Lawrie, we'd certainly have the payroll flexibility, and maybe start some of those prospects we've just traded for since it wouldn't start their arbitration clock early (assuming the prospects weren't up before June). Maybe we pull a Raptors and the kids make things interesting down the stretch? I think a guy like Dickey would be really appealing to several teams, especially those he's pitched well against historically. D'arnaud and Syndegaard grade interesting? No effing way, but maybe one good prospects and a B guy. This is a scenario that is really appealing to me. I don't think we have the right mix of starting pitching and vets to contend.
  20. Does anyone think Jenkins would be a decent starter with upside? Over Morrow I mean? BTW, I think Morrow's done as a starter.
  21. Yeah, it's time to trim the dead wood. It's a travesty that Wagner is down again. I trust him more for a save than Santos at this stage. Is there even a chance they could find their way back to the Buffalo Bisons without being grabbed?
  22. If Stroman continues to pitch very well in AAA and if promoted as soon as possible, but far enough away to start his arbritation clock *and* the Jays thrown $8M at Stephen Drew to play 2B after the draft to play the rest of the season (and I still think this is possible), would this improve the Jays enough to have a shot at the Wildcard? June is a long ways away for Drew. Would he need a few weeks training to get ready? Do you think he might be ready to play right off the hop? And yeah, I know the team talked about getting together as players and paying for Santana, deferring their salary, but I still think if the Jays are holding their own (which doesn't seem possible after these three atrocious games) the management might okay that signing. Anyway, does that give us a chance?
  23. He doesn't have a good team. Last year Kawasaki DHed a game or two for the Jays. Optimal? No. But necessary given our thin roster. Gardenhire tends to win with mediocrity.
  24. Do you think we even have a hope of bringing Drew in after the draft? Drew plus a Sanchez or Nolan in June in the SP #5 spot would make me happy.
