  1. Oh well, f*** it then. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qlA8RPV1mWA/Uqe83wGexhI/AAAAAAAAAA0/YxmepnOyTks/s1600/WELPFACE2.png
  2. Let's take the second of a (hopefully) four game sweep!
  3. From 2006-2012 Uggla was average WAR of +3.3. He's dropped off in the last 18 months, but is he completely finished? Hell, we were being linked with him a few weeks ago.
  4. Really? Dan Uggla = Cole Gillespie? Hmmmm. Fangraphs says no. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=3442&position=2B // http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=5888&position=OF
  5. Anyone interested? http://sports.yahoo.com/news/giants-designate-dan-uggla-tyler-225833789--mlb.html
  6. I thought it was a funny comment, especially coming from a former catcher and Blue Jays commentator!!
  7. Nice comment from Alan Ashby: "Blue Jays are 2 games into their final third of the season and they still have to talk about signs."
  8. Perhaps we could have offered slightly more than Peter O'Brien for Martin Prado? Like, I don't know, anything? As to whether or not Valencia, Reimold, Brett Wallace, Cole Gillespie, Cory Aldridge and Darin Mastroianni will significantly improve the team, we'll see.
  9. $135m is a respectable payroll, but next year it goes to $97m. The following year it falls to $27m. We have not had one f***ing indication this entire season that this is not the direction the payroll is going in, other than the ridiculous sight of AA searching in the garbage for some hidden gem and the strident claims of some on here that this is all an illusion and we can spend more if we wanted too.
  10. Fan 590 right now; apologist radio. f*** me. We needed to make a trade today, if only to send a message to the dressing room that the FO/Ownership is actually f***ing trying. Prado + Drew = Yankees trying. Scott Sizemore (if rumours are true) = not f***ing trying. Is there any money left in the kitty? Can Rogers/FO/Some f***ing monkey in a suit please assure the fans that there was/is/will be payroll available and that the whole Rogers sports budget hasn't gone on the f***ing NHL? What a s***** day.
  11. Interesting article on the value of prospects and trade deadline day blunders: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2014/07/30/mlb-trade-deadline-prospects-cliff-lee-jon-lester/13374271/
  12. Turn out the lights, it's all over. http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lrlse6fruj1qkahb5o1_500.gif http://www.fempop.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/tumblr_mhoc0kKtVx1qfoz5to1_500.gif If you had told me at the start of this season that we'd have a chance at the second wild card spot, I would have snapped off your hand, arm and probably part of your torso as well.
  13. Exactly; well said sir. Just like AA did last season. Oh, wait.........
  14. I have no problem with the rule in principle. Some of the catchers were just getting f***ing cleaned by the batters, sometimes when they weren't even near the plate. But if what we just saw is the true interpretation of the new rule somebody in the MLB front office deserves to be f***ing lynched. Metaphorically speaking of course.
  15. Honestly it's to the f***ing point that you'd almost believe that the conversation in the replay room goes something like this: "Call from Boston." "Hello? Can I check the last play? Sure...............OK runner was clearly blocked and the run should score." "You are aware that this is Toronto we're talking about right?" "Toronto? TORONTO? Why the f*** didn't you say so in the first place? Would've saved me some time. He's out. Or in. Whichever f***s the Blue Jays more, I don't care."
  16. I hear you, but in this case he f***ing waited for the ball to be thrown to him while he was blocking the plate. He didn't shift over as the throw directed him in that way.
  17. So just to be clear; the rule is now that the catcher can block the plate without the ball, the player can't run into him with or without the ball and there doesn't have to be any clear lane for the player to run towards. f*** me. f***. Me. What a stupid f***ing rule and interpretation. This should be the test case as to why this rule is utterly f***ed.

  19. It's a simple balance of probabilities equation. 1) We clearly need a starting pitcher and a second baseman in the off-season. Tanaka goes begging, reports surface everywhere that players were asked to defer salary to sign Santana and no second base help arrives. 2) We have spent almost the entire season picking up scrubs from the scrapheap looking for a bargain with little real success. 3) We now clearly need a trade to bolster our infield, outfield and pitching for a stretch run. Reports again surface that we have told other teams we cannot take on any more payroll and no-one of significance has yet been added. Now in lawyer talk there is no documented, signed, sealed and delivered evidence that would hold up before a court of law that the FO has no more money to spend. But you'd have to do a true ostrich act to not at least see some sort of pattern there.
  20. Various links on the deferring salary issue: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/bautista-among-players-in-santana-deferral-report/ http://www.torontosun.com/2014/04/05/blue-jays-players-wanted-to-defer-portions-of-salary-to-try-to-sign-santana http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/story/?id=448624 In other news, there should be a permanent trade embargo between any Boston franchise trading with any Toronto franchise. Period. How many times do we need to be raped by f***ing New Englanders before we learn our lesson? f***ing tea-baggers.
  21. #2 for me, but I'm very close to #3. Under no circumstances should we trade what we have left of a farm system for some rentals. I lie awake at night thinking of all the good young prospects we've burned on trades in the last 2 years.......DeSclafani, Marisnick, Nicolino, Syndergaard.......my head hurts.......
  22. Went to see Sanchez in Buffalo recently (July 10) and he pitched relatively well. 6 innings, 2 ER (on a 2 run home run) and some good stuff mixed with some very ordinary pitches. He did not seem like a lights out prospect to me, but then again one game, small sample size. However the hysteria on here after 6 outs is symptomatic of how desperate we've all become to crown any new pitcher as the next Cy Young who'll take us to glory. We need to relax and give the kid some time. Hutchinson is just the latest of our new crop who start well, get fatigued and then the rest of the league starts to catch up to them. And let's not even mention the 'can't miss' prospect Deck McGuire, the 'safe' draft pick.
