  1. It amazes me where Yanks and the Rays are with all their injuries this season. Yanks have 36 W's. On a relative basis we have been very lucky. Judge (missed a few gms) putting up a 188 wRC+ cures a lot of ills. Also, TEX is for real.
  2. A pretty good right cross tool?
  3. I’d say the majority of us thought he was over rated and over hyped but a solid 2-4 SP. And expected regression. He was a hero of the casuals(witness the Hazel Mae docuseries until your ears bleed) and apparently Schneids who gave him the season and home openers over Gausman (dumb). This meltdown has been way beyond my comprehension. Nobody knows the bottom. I do think his shape is a factor. Although he doesn’t look much different than last year. I can do without the Twitter wars and the stare downs if he does make it back. I’m rooting for him. We all are. He has to go down.
  4. Fair. I said a bit. End of the day they have both been league average bats ish (Grichuks 100 wRC+ career) that will run into some balls. I agree Varsho is more selective and that he (like Biggio) has holes in his swing. Sometimes guys never fix those. I make the point that we can't assume both Varsho is all about upside because he hit a couple balls at the 83rd percentile EV, and that we know what Moreno is after 200 PAs. Been a lot of players who have been solid value that don't hit big EV numbers much, and some guys who can light it up occasionally but not often enough. Then again, I once thought Lawrie = Machado and look how that turned out.
  5. Not sure about that. Varsho reminds me a bit of a LHH Grichuk. He will run into some. 1300 PAs and a 97 wRC+. Moreno only has 200 PAs. Early. Avg EV Moreno - 62nd percentile. 60% hard hit. Avg EV Varsho - 23rd percentile. 31% hard hit.
  6. Belt's a freak: 37% K rate. .380 OBP 126 wRC+ 16% BB rate Only 3 HRs From a brutal start he has been worth his deal so far, even though he can look as bad as it gets on any given AB. Love to see him get on a HR roll.
  7. This is fair. Its like to justify an argument take the worst case scenario for one player and assume no upside. Then take the best case scenario for another. Its ok to debate and critique Moreno/Kirk and the Varsho deal etc. It was a risky and expensive deal. As a GM, props for the balls to do it. How this is viewed is going to evolve over time. I think the facts are so far are: - LGJ has double his 2022 HR total and he is raking. Will he cool off? Sure, but the HRs are staying on the board. On D, I havent seen anything but I'm sure he still sucks. - Kirk has underperformed expectations and the power has not been there. - Varsho is a D gem, but an 81 wRC+ and 0.4 WAR is underperforming my expectations. On pace for under 2 WAR. - Moreno and Kirk are both noodle bats and Moreno has been better defensively.
  8. Nice job Hound. Romano nails. The 98 well located up makes that slider down so nasty. Great W!!
  9. Huge blast kid. That was helpful.
  10. Land on tarmac in Toronto just now. Phone gets service. Open app squeamishly knowing who is starting. f***. 2-0 cause Toro. Opens TBJMB GDT and determines we have 2023 Alek on the bump again tonight. Say it ain’t so.
  11. Wonder who will start a “if you had to fellate, who would you rather fellate as GM? Poll AA or Atkins”
  12. Was just able to finish game on PVR now. Big Nate was dealing. I’ve been waiting years for an outing like that. We’ve seen glimpses. Breaking ball command much better and the V up top was awesome. Big time valuable arm if he can eat 2 IP and look more like that consistently.
  13. Belt is frustrating but he has come off a horrible start to be an effective LLH. Numbers climbing and the OBP is impressive.
  14. Kooch needs to step up now. They picked him up. Let’s go Jays!
  15. LOl, ya maybe.
  16. I know and said that....its obvious. but 185 to 300+ is a big lift. I pointed out offsetting factors to that fact IMO. We are where we are. What Bo's wants is one thing and what we want to do is another.
  17. I can't wrap my head around $300+ M for Bo. I know he rakes. I don't care much what SDP does to blow their own brains out on. Its not totally apples to apples given service time/sample, but if you look at the Wander Franco signing at the time where the 2 players were at, Rays paid 11/185 (option tacked on) for a switch hitter who is 2 years younger. This year Wander has been worth more WAR than Bo. Given Wander's D numbers are > Bo, its fair to suggest there is a higher probability he can play longer at a premium position, which you pay extra for. Bo is 28 when the 2026 season begins in year 1 as a FA. I think you have to factor in that you are paying, in Bo, for a guy that you know has to move to 2B before too long into the deal.
  18. This is all about Agents, value, markets and money. Its just business. It has very little, if nothing at all, to do with loyalty. Even Vlad's comment about never signing with NYY I take with a grain of salt. If he did ever sign with them he would not be the first star player to reverse course on a pronouncement like that.
  19. I missed that. Thx. Was just having a little layman look at all the numbers yesterday on savant trying to solve the mystery that is Vlad-ito right now lol
  20. Honestly, this simple take ^ is reality. If Bo's 2nd half looks more like his 1st two-thirds of 2022, take the poll again. If Vlad goes on an extended heater same. It always comes down to below: 1. Will one or both sign or do they want to hit the FA market to sell to the highest bidder? 2. If they want to extend, whats the term/AAV and is it reasonable value/risk for both parties? I hope the FO does whats best for the team long term and not too influenced by immediacy pressures. They are still under control until '26. I've always felt their long term security financially being assured, given the family and now personal wealth, is a factor. Hell, Bo's arb deal is better than Albies extension deal. Some were yelling to extend Manoah last year given Strider deal etc. Given how he has looked in '23 so far, I'm glad they didn't.
  21. Weird his chase rate is up about 6%. But his contact on chase swings is way up from 2021. Seems like he would better off whiffing on the chase swings instead of making contact.
