    Thanks. That works. I need the help on the 'metrics. I failed "Stats" @ Acadia University in 1986. Playing football...working out...and partying every night were not courses. Who knew?

    I was at that game - flew in from Calgary for it. It was painful to watch JPA flail around. His acerbic comments to the media "Im not worried about hitting..Ive always hit" were grating. Anyway....JPA - Gomes - Aviles - Rogers - Izturis- Navarro and then the big FA signing of Martin (who is $ but has been excellent) are all connected to the JPA decision. Time to let it go I guess.

    I'm not flipping out over Goins today against a RHP. Maybe we gain a touch on D? Normally I'd agree with you but Travis is 24 and wasn't rushed back at all missing 35 gms. He is pencilled in to be our every day 2B against LHP and RHP. I'd say he needs the reps and should be in the line up.

    Fair post. Staying with JPA as long as we did, at the expense of other options (like Gomes) was an obvious mistake even to the most casual fan.

    Navarro is making me a hater but even I cant pin that on him. Too many variables and we were coming off a long winning streak anyway = not sustainable.

    If I was to pick a hockey analogy for Travis I'd say he is a "grinder".

    I like today's line up. Smoak > Jimmy Hoffa apparently. Ok with Goins against RHP for his glove. Not sure why he rests Travis. meh. We need this one.

    I know some don't put much stock in intangibles but I like Travis's attitude and the way he plays in all aspects of the game. He seems legitimately humbled to be in the bigs and committed to doing whatever it takes to stay there. Gose is getting marginal numbers on D which surprises me - substantial regression on O and his issues with converting his speed into a solid SB success ratio continue.

    Thanks Dr. GD. I'm more uneducated old school than I thought after reading that. Is there a stat that measures on a per AB basis how much I am hating on Dioner Navarro? And should this feeling be adjusted for the fact he replaced JPA?

    Except for the fact that we are not professionals paid to assess, select/accquire and develop talent. Because we didn't see his talent isn't really the point. Its not our job and our business. I didn't see what Gomes could have been in his cup of coffee with the big team, but that doesn't mean that mgm and their team shouldn't have. As evidenced by whats on the field developed by our org, the Jays drafting and talent development has been poor. Better under AA I think...but still marginal. But hey...even with pros sometimes the Gomes slip by.

    Yup. Razors edge. Who knows? Edwin (OR SMOAK) picks Travis's E for the 1st out of the game, and it could have been a different result. They made it close...get the next two.

    nice sig line...another poster said it was nice to see that we had a developing "ace" after his back to back big starts. He is a mid to back end rotation/ middle reliever. Nice piece to have. That's it regardless of last 2 starts. Hope he can shut them down for a couple more innings.
