  1. Topped out at 3.7 WAR in 2015 with only a 94 wRC+ Dude was flying in the OF. 10 years in the bigs. Not bad for a 32nd Rounder.
  2. Chappy doing his thing for SFG. 3.1 WAR so far in '24 for $18M AAV. Similar to '23 Jays season.
  3. The pull of the tantalizing 3rd wild card has changed the whole game, and approach to deadline. It makes the Jays roll back approach somewhat plausible. I think it blows up in our faces in '25 as it did this year, but I can understand why they are doing it. They want to be the '24 BoSox in '25. Keeps us watching and going to games. And the "just get in" crowd goes wild. Given the rental market strength, potentially getting a nice haul for termed starters makes so much sense - except for that 3rd WC rationale.
  4. Green would be good to move given the money and big time sellers market. The SP with term we moved could bring us a rare haul in this deadline. They want to roll it back yet again and need a rotation lol, so I fear you are correct. Its going to be interesting looking back in Aug at '25 how all this mess all turned out.
  5. Yes, and it matched what David Samson was saying. He knows Vlad and his Dad well. Vlad seeking 10 years and Top 3 AAVs. If we don't give that he goes to market. The end. Its important to keep in mind that as hot as he is right now, he will probably finish the year around 3 WAR, not 6. Again, he ain't a Betts.
  6. BoSox should have extended Betts, but Vlad ain't Betts. Vlad has little D value playing 1B. We are looking at his most sustained offensive push since '21 but its still been only a couple months ish. Kind like Bo's heater in the end of '22 that saved that season, and look where we are with Bo in '24. I'd love to have Vlad extended but he wants to be paid in the Top 3 in baseball over a decade. No way he over performs that kind of deal. The best value we will get for Vlad, when we look back in 2025, will have been today. But I don't expect it to happen for other broader reasons ownership has.
  7. Yep. Interesting we gave Green 2/21 after watching him for 5 weeks coming off arm surgery. He of the 4.47 FIP and 7.8/9 K rate. Not sure there was any return from arm injury discount on that option we picked up.
  8. Fan of Jano. As a player and a little bit of time spent with him. Good guy. Will miss him. Wish him the best and hope he has better health for the rest of his career.
  9. They would do well on Vlad. 2 playoff runs before he becomes a FA. His 143 wRC+ offensive value RFN is the highest its been since '21. No chance they extend him, unless its a ridiculous term & AAV overpay I don't want. Do it if the offers are there now. If not revisit in off season.
  10. I don't think Rogers rolls with that. Unless fans continue to tune into TV and hit the games. I've got friends whose whole fam is at todays game from Cal. They texted me they left when it hit 7-0. But attendance generally is hanging in there so far. "Start fresh" with an empty farm doesn't seem reasonably quick or appealing lol. Rogers will continue to spend for foreseeable future to protect their investments, but the reality is unless they stupidly overpay for Bo and/or Vlad, or they move them as they should in the offseason, they are gone anyway in the blink of any eye. Right now the public indications of direction(less) is half pregnant. The worst. Going to be interesting the next few months.
  11. I’d love to see us jettison that deal, which goes through 2028.
  12. Dismiss it if you will. Each to his own. But he did call the Jays as a non playoff team before the season began with a solid rationale.
  13. Very interesting conversation on all this with Passan on Blair and Barker today. Worth a listen. Makes a Jays fan want to jump off a bridge. Fair warning.
  14. 100%. Also not the first FO who has to deal with a key player getting hurt and/or regressing. I think Bo is over valued even when he was good. A career 120 bat who provides bottom third D @ SS. 4-5 WAR 3 seasons consecutively is impressive but offensively the high chase low BB approach was always a candidate for early decline. I wouldn’t be surprised if he does bounce back in ‘25 some, but his D is pretty capped @ at a premium position.
  15. Ross has been neutered. For sure. Overnight increase.
  16. Thats a great story. I've seen that kid play. Elite. That Red Deer area program is producing some real talent. There is another catcher in Edmonton that has solid career ahead that is 16 and has been playing against my son since 13U AAA. My bud from University's son - NS kid who went out and played in Okotoks Dawgs program in AB - for noticed and made Team Canada Junior team and then full ride to Oregon State Beavers got drafted 17th round. Late but still good accomplishment. His 2nd and 3rd years he really battled injuries at OS.
  17. Just taking a look 96 games and 60% of the season completed - at what we for for the FO investments made this offseason: $50M AAV committed this off season on KK, IKF, JT, Y-Rod, Green option and Vogs to round out the FO roster construction. Total cumulative fWAR of this illustrious list is total 2.0 Of this net total, 2 WAR is career year so far of IKF. Cost/WAR this off season was 4.4M median. Piss poor return.
  18. Berrios another boat anchor contract through 2028. Stuff is s***.
  19. f*** off Green. 5 FIP xERA 4.50 $10.5M AAV reliever.
  20. Nobody knows the SWR ceiling or floor yet. Too early - the ceiling doesn't look very high for reasons mentioned by L54. But he is young, cheap and performing like a 4/5 so far in '24. Hypothetically, if we approached MINN to take Berrios contract through the 2028 season in '24, with his consistent trend of declining stuff at his cost/term, would they even give us SWR back? Whats Berrios worth now with his career pedigree and 1340 IP?
  21. I’m just f***ing around. I haven’t seen him pitch or looked at his stuff stats in depth. And no he didn’t touch 99 lol. His FIP is under 4 and Berrios FIP is well over 5 and he has been s***. He has statistically been worse than 2022. Last year 3 WAR. This year 0.3 apples to apples. His stuff is on a bad trajectory.
  22. SWR > Berrios Spank. I heard he touched 99 in his last start too.
  23. Fell off a cliff. Should have stuck and held on 2023. I thought for sure Varsho was full time CF. Maybe they can move him for a piece this month. Nice D specialist for playoff team late inning replacement (like how we should have used JBJ over Tapia game 2 SEA playoffs 2022)
  24. Varsho with another hard hit ball.
  25. Varsho sucko. Big glove with a nerf bat. If only we had Moreno ,2024 would be saved. #OmarTriggerBait
