    It was smart to use his CB as much as they did early on. He had good command of it and it kept them from sitting on his change. His change got better as the game went on I thought. Overall, very positive. I take your point on luck. JD's hit in the 1st was crushed and if it walled up, it might have changed that first inning. Luck is part of any pitchers game. The ump was consistent for most of the game, but I thought he squeezed Marco and Benoit late, which had me raging.

    Nothing. He pitched well but he also got very lucky in the 6/7 with 3 LDs right at people. It could have gone the other way like Stro's last start where the GBs seemed to all get through. We deserve some luck for a change so its all good. As others have said the narrative that the 6 man is making him throw too hard is false. A simple check of fangraphs shows his avg FB V and V overall is actually down from 2015.

    They were hitting lasers off of Estrada and he brings him back out...gives up a hit. Tying run at plate. Brilliant.

    Is there a chance, in todays game, Olerud with an 8 WAR sits to get Carter at 1B? I don't think so. Even with older school managers.

    Good post. It would be dumb to just say Sanchez cant be part of this deal as a non starter. Depends on the deal. Id like to see more than $40mm kicked in, but there is an argument to be made for this deal. Not that I think its going to happen.

    All about the FB. That slider is as dominant as Cecil's CB last yr. When Liriano can get strikes with the FB, they know the slider may be coming, but no way to lay off.

    Good summary. Liriano just looks like he completely looses his release point on the FB. So many outside the zone up and away. Repeatedly. There was a lot of fapping about his new 4S FB after one good start, but not much after this last outing. He has the stuff to be a playoff starter, but it will be a nail biter. Id rather send him out than RA. I remember the Jays in 92 and 93 WS starting an aging Morris, Dave Stewart and Todd Stottlemyre giving me the same kind of feeling.

    Its not as sharp. He just isn't getting 2015 swing and miss on it. BABIP against him is over .350 and almost 20% HR/FB.

    With his speed and hitting from the left side I didn't think it was possible for him to hit into a buzz killing DP.

    1-0 O's. Pearce with a HR off of CC. He just absolutely crushes lefties. Nice combo with Alvarez from the left side.
