  1. Buck drunk again. A 97 mph breaking ball espinal hit?
  2. No bueno but to be fair he got ump f***ed badly in the first inning. Cost him 10 or more pitches.
  3. I get your point and agree on expectations for 5th starters need to be moderate. But if you look at their numbers so far this year for us it’s been abysmal.
  4. New Teo last couple years has been money. What a pick up for Liriano.
  5. Well that sucked badly. As much as I’d like to, I can’t really fault Buntoyo. Dolis looked like he always looks to me. Lots of pitches. One pitch bounced. One a filthy strike. Rinse. Repeat. I thought he would come through. If Vlad comes up with that first tough chance for Dolis maybe it’s a different outcome. Inches. That’s baseball. It’s May 20th. We move on. Chatwood is nails. While he is hot hand he has been our best pen arm. Matz sure battled tonight. Props.
  6. For sure. Complete faith in both of them. Dolis is an enigma. LONG innings...LOT of pitches but he has such filthy stuff it almost always works out. Chatwood just takes care of business and goes right after them with cutter and FB. When he does get behind he doesn't seem rattled.
  7. Agree that offense can only get a team so far. Our D isn't that solid which doesn't help. Our biggest weakness is pitching obviously. Ray has been great for $8mm and his BB totals have been a shocking turnaround, but he still is giving up a ton of bombs when he misses up and hangs. He has lucky few on base for most part. Ryu showed last night what a true quality start can do for a team. That was awesome and nice to see only 2 innings for the pen. Dolis looked good. I wasnt concerned they gave him some work given how long he was off. Matz looked quite a bit better the last couple starts. More aggressive in with his fastball again. If our O is what we hope it will be with Springer back, I think mgm will add quality arm(s). LAD don't look quite as invincible as ordained WS ring winners right now.
  8. 20 season was too messed up. I know anything can happen in 1 gm but TB was vastly superior to us last year. Even if we won the wild card gm i just didnt think we had the horses to go further. I feel like this year we are there or at least much closer with a chance to make some in season moves. Emergence of Vladdy and adding Springer are major upgrades.
  9. Just watched game on PVR. Had to take my 12 year old son to an underground outdoor baseball practice for his team. Speakeasy practices in the COVID era. What a game tonight. So many kudos. Ryu start was medicine. Loved the plate approach hitting the ball away and in. Little sloppy on D. I can’t wait to get Springer into this line up. Lets win this series. Great game Jays.
  10. Its early in the season, but it feels like its the most meaningful series since the end of 2016 season.
  11. Gibby got his fair share of criticism from us, but he was ok. I was trying to think of his most egregious offences, but they are hard to recall. I remember coming unglued over some scrub reliever use in leverage etc, but I would take him any day over Buntoyo.
  12. Good to hear from you. Glad you are making out well. I'm a Director have a junior gold mining company "Taurus Gold" going public next month so we are hoping to do well with that. Just invested in Providence Therapeutics here in Calgary. They have produced what many think is the worlds best covid vaccine, so we shall see. I know f*** all about it but my bud is Chair of the Board and just invested over a million in their convertible debenture. I am a sheep that follows smart people. Still private. As far as the Jays agree with you. We are pitching above our weight. Injuries have not helped. Pen is over taxed and its already starting to crumble some. We need some luck on health and Atkins will have to acquire some help. You can only get so lucky in pouring through the bargain bin. Shame about Yates. That was an unusual pen signing for them, and one can see why. I am nostalgic for our pitching development to be sure. But I'm not sure if thats fair. Leiter was great but just hurt too much early. He ended up being a big part of the 93 world series winning team. I will never forget him K'ing Darren Daulton in a huge spot coming out of the pen. I think game 1 when we beat Curt Schilling. Chris Carpenter was like Leiter. Hurt too much young. Took forever to develop. Romano fell off a cliff. Marcum we developed late. Morrow was a struggle. Cecil became a lights out reliever for a few years. 2015 he was incredible. Aside from Doc though, I don't think we had a stellar record even back then. Steib Key Ward Woody Hentgen over a lot of years. Remember Billy Koch? Stottlemyre wasn't that good. Mid to back end guy. Never forget him starting that epic 15-14 game vs Phillies and getting rocked sliding into base and tearing skin off his chin. In the rain. All time great game. I'm hopeful we make something substantial out of both Manoah and Pearson. Reminding me of the Stro/Sanchez/Thor debates on here makes me nauseous. We do have a penchant for writing guys off when they don't fit the exact mold. Its ironic some of our best ever bats were converted scrap heap projects at one time - JD, Edwin and Jose.
  13. lol...amiright? How goes bud? Haven't heard from the grumpy ol' sensible guy in awhile. Still counting the pennies in your TFSA and wearing your Doug Ford T shirt with a MAGA hat? How about those Jays?
  14. Ya Tellez still intrigues me. He is hard to quit. No D value but huge raw EV power upside. For a LHH power bat, he has displayed glimpses of ability to use the whole field too. Just so many things wrong with him right now. Have to say for whatever reason he has been getting f***ed by the umps a lot lately as well. And now he is hurt.
  15. Going to need to stock up on pepto for this. Should be electric. Man, i hope Springer comes back fully healthy soon.
  16. Neither over paid nor under paid. Its a business and they make what someone is willing to pay them based on the market and negotiated CBA terms. Nobody is forced to play baseball at any level. I’d like to see minor leaguers make more and a lot of big leaguers get hurt or struggle and never see arb pay checks or free agency money, but that’s the system that was negotiated. Even the MLB min is a lot more than most people will ever make in a few years. Is the Lindor deal an overpay? 100%. But if an owner is willing to pay it then he is getting exactly what he should. Ultimately the limitation on payment will be driven by fans going to games and watching on TV, merch. Etc.
  17. That was not the easy breezy Sunday aft. that we all wanted. What a sloppy game but will take the W! I am setting up my Romano shrine to pray he doesnt hit the IL.
  18. Most days thats absolutely true. Today he pushed Ray some. I still cringe over the 2 innings 30+ pitches he made a brittle Merryweather throw early on. If we make that D play in LF, Mayza likely has a much different outcome and we dont see Romano today.
  19. Mayza just struggles to put away bats. Slider command piss poor. 3 poor outings in a row.
  20. Get it together FFS. From Little league.... IF goes hard for it until OF calls off. No call, IF makes catch.
  21. Payamps nice job. Bo and Marcus doing a nice job on the DPs. 6 more outs men.
  22. Thats a very long answer I wont bore you with, but suffice it wasn't what they should have been doing. They were all half brothers 2 from my Dad and 1 from my Mother. The Anti-Brady Bunch. It was the 60's and 70's and a very different time. Not to excuse it but it is what it is. Assault someone said? I don't know. Teachers used to actually give us the strap in school back then. Seems bizarre now. My oldest half bro 11 years my senior, had some issues. His mom was tragically killed in car accident when he was 6. Never recovered really. Anyway...back to baseball.
  23. They are destroying the ball. Devers, Martinez and Xander are hitting everything. Tellez f***ed on 2 strike calls 3-4 inches outside
