  1. Not now. Agreed. Speed down just a touch from last year. He looks a bit heavier to me as season has gone on. He is fielding 1B well but sometimes his movements on picks/throws off to the sides don't look great. Also, its 1B. I think Cecil-Mo-Prince-Pablo on a long term deal. It is a fairly large risk with his body type and Grandma's cooking. People don't want to panic rightfully so over a 133 wRC+ but he has struggled since Aug 1, 5 weeks now, and he struggled down the stretch in '21 too. Fatigue? The GB rates and pitch selection are becoming real issues.
  2. The pricing of Bo and Vlad fascinates me. Very tough call. Lots of risk either way. You didn't mention Yelich ^ . Are the ATL signings comparables at all? AA is a f***ing genius. There are rumours he was moving to sign Dansby long term. He has put up his best offensive season and worth 5.6 WAR already.
  3. Yep. thats what I listened to. It was interesting. Although I shudder to think Tony LaRussa needs more autonomy on field decisions.
  4. Too early for me to have much of a view on Schneider. The false narratives began almost immediately. They seem to zig and zag depending on if we win or lose. Most of his decisions so far seem pretty milquetoast. The "aggressiveness" on the bases the jury is still out on for me. Some guys are running that shouldn't be. Dumb. And Espy bunting is dumb for so many reasons, not the least of which is he is terrible at it. I like his on the field and media persona we see, whatever that is worth. I like that he isn't afraid to change the line up order. Also a plus he is bongo-free. Madden went from being seen as cutting edge with the Rays, and winning a WS with Cubs to being seen as a past his prime dinosaur. Listened to a decent interview with him yesterday about how FO's are f***ing up baseball in his view. Too much focus on analytics (even though we was an early proponent and remains one). Said the numbers guys and FO's are just having too much impact on field decisions. He said he wants to hear the information but then make baseball decisions - keep the numbers guys out of his office kind of thing. Was interesting. He also said he isn't a bitter grumpy old man lol
  5. Struck him out twice. Nice Romano. Manoah boss today. Just a stud performance. Huge series 3/4 win for Jays.
  6. Blown clear strike 3 call. Double next pitch. Santander got one the other day and homered the next pitch. Infuriating.
  7. The numbers that say that this is one of the leagues top offences must not watch this team play every night. Man that was bad. Again. 4/14 last night.
  8. Tapia takes 4 pitches in a row then gets a fluke hit. Both things are a Festivus Miracle.
  9. Weird game last night. Jays 4/14 with RISP. (Teo and Vlad 0/10 with 3 Ks and leave 9 runners on base - this can't happen) Bo stays smoldering hot. wRC+ 122. Chappy a couple key knocks. White has sucked. Kooch was Kooch. Richards looked like most of Richards this season. Bass filthy again. Yimi nails. Nelson remains as always a complete f***ing idiot - still needs to be the center of attention. Really need a W today! Lets go Jays!
  10. LOL. Its like the celebrating everyone did of Scott Stevens hits at the blueline which Ko'ed Karyia and Lindros, which would now get him incarcerated.
  11. Me too. I got in a huge scrap at home once with the C I just bowled over. I played outside linebacker for a Cdn college at the time and gave him everything I had at full speed. At the time, that was what I thought we were supposed to do, which now seems a bit crazy.
  12. It was a facetious comment thats more reflective of my view the rule is too open to subjective and inconsistent interpretation. As I recall the Twins and their fans who lit up twitter and message boards didn't see it our way. No worries. Win tomorrow.
  13. Holy f*** guys I didn't say I agreed with it. They are almost always debatable. We won a game in part because of a call on these dumb blocking the lane rules that went our way. Nothing we can do about it except win tomorrow.
  14. Live by the block, die by the block Win 3/4 tomorrow.
  15. This. Our record in 5th SP games is nasty. Makes you appreciate more what Matz gave us in '21 for $5M. Good thing bringing Strip here has worked out.
  16. O's punking the Jays with Odor getting frisky on a bloop single. Could be some s*** happening tomorrow with a fiery Manoah on the mound, who routinely plunks guys, when he isn't trying to.
  17. Yimi time. He has been nails. I don't say this often enough but thank god Atkins made that signing.
  18. Ya. Was a good pitch and he smoked it. Wrong place. Was talking in general down the stretch.
  19. Really need Vlad to clean some runners off the bases this month and carry this team. That breaking ball down was a good pitch. Bo is carrying us right now. Great AB by Springer.
  20. Can we give back Merrifield and keep Castillo?
  21. The worst. That 2015 game infamous. Navarro and Revere after Pompey stole third. He had a horrible game behind the plate this year too for us. Messed up Vlad on the strike zone ever since lol.
  22. FFS, my apologies to the positive police. We have 75 wins and are in the last wildcard spot. I expected this team to have more than lasts years 91 Wins. We are a bad stretch or a good stretch from in or out. I get it. I said we are hot the last 20 games which is acknowledging all the wins against NYY and BoSox etc etc etc. I'm not bitching. I was pointing out the LAA series as an anomaly as an example. Great, thanks for pointing out its also an anomaly to sweep the BoSox at home. I had no idea. In terms of perspective its also an anomaly to win 5 straight after that LAA series, and we are still only in the last wildcard spot.
  23. I'll try and make it better. I watch a lot of ball too. Other teams. Can't get enough. The Jays near misses and flubs are heightened for many because of 1. Expectations which in part they themselves set and 2. We have 75 wins and are fighting for our lives for the final wildcard and 3. Missing the post season by 1 game last year still fresh. If the Jays were atop the Division by 5 plus games like LAD or NYY for example, many fans would be much less concerned/disappointed about anomalies, like a sweep at the hands of the LAA at home, for example.
  24. Any way you slice it, it all boils down to W's over 162. PITT can sweep LAD and few bat an eye. Why? They have 92 f***ing wins. Yanks have played like s*** since AS break. They banked W's and may just turn it around and peak for the playoff run. We have been hot the last 20 gms relatively and have 75.
  25. I don't think most are freaking out. I think despite those lofty overall numbers there are some legit reasons for frustration and concern. Vlad has a 140 wRC+ which is awesome, but man the GBs and swinging at pitches out of the zone or pitchers strikes just makes you wonder how much better he could be with a little pitch selection improvement. Its all going to come down to how they match up and handle the best in the playoffs for all players/teams. Hopefully we can hit a game and have a good discussion about it this month.
