  1. So, Grant. It's a 'no' from you regarding Leake, eh?
  2. Haha, Christ. Nothing has changed.
  3. My thoughts on some of our players; Justin Smoak - with Colabello, Encarnacion and Bautista's eventual move from RF to 1B, I don't see any scenario in which Smoak is signed. Brett Cecil - I think it would be in the clubs best interest to sign him to a contract longer than 1 year. He's going to get huge money if they let him hit FA next year as he's been as dominant as anyone out of the pen for 3 seasons. Mark Lowe - needs to be re-signed. R.A. Dickey - it'll be very interesting to see what Shapiro thinks about the knuckleball. He may want to use that $11M elsewhere and rid himself of having to carry Thole on top of that. This is the deepest FA market for pitching we've seen in years, so I'm not sure there's as much risk letting Dickey go as there would be any other year. The funny thing is that if Dickey is replaced he'd probably be replaced with a conventional pitcher who puts up the same numbers anyway. Ben Revere - he's as empty calories as a player can get, but you can do a lot worse. Of course he shouldn't be hitting lead-off, but he's young, controllable and a pretty good option as a stop-gap player for a couple years. Who knows, he may improve. Roberto Osuna - despite the kicking and screaming of some on here I don't think there's anyway Osuna is put in the starting rotation. Ryan Goins - he's an everyday player. It's a s***** spot for him to be in.
  4. Gallardo should be in Tier 3 in my opinion which means nothing.
  5. There's really no reason not to keep Edwin. He's not going to demand a 6 year deal.
  6. He's gonna be in the rotation next year, so I don't know what you're talking about.
  7. I was just thinking that. That's gonna be awkward when they suit up at the WBC.
  8. These are valid points. After 2016 is does get dicey. They're going to have to choose between Edwin and Jose to be frank, and with Edwin being younger and more likely to sign an extension you can bet your bottom dollar they'll keep Edwin.
  9. For first time in our franchise's history, we're going to see a true "baseball guy" take the reigns. This is significant because it speaks to the financial health and appeal of the organization. I'm interested to see what Shapiro can do, as his hiring shows a pretty stable future, particularly when Rogers has seen a 40% increase in profits this quarter. How much that has to do with the Blue Jays success is probably not significant, but a strong ownership is a strong franchise, traditionally. Shapiro's off-season plate is full and the two biggest issues's he has to deal with are re-hiring or hiring a GM, and upgrading the Skydome's facilities both functionally and aesthetically. The training facilities are dated and need upgrading, medical equipment also needs upgrading, a dirt infield is needed next year and general non-necessary upgrades visually would be a plus. A little make up can go a long way from the Dome looking like a bunker to a semi-reasonable place to watch a ball game. We're coming off of a division title, an ALCS appearance between the two best teams in the AL and a line up that will be virtually identical. Long gone are the days of Paul Godfrey or Interbrew before him. The organization is as healthy as it's been in two decades, except now a huge portion of the fan-base has been grandfathered in, growing up with the team since they were either in diapers or not born yet, creating that bleed blue mentality. What are you hopes and expectations for Shapiro?
  10. is this serious?
  11. What difference does it make trading for Hawkins when he was effective during the season? They needed bullpen depth and he provided that. Yeah, Hutch wasn't getting it done so he got David Price...
  12. Up by 6 in ALDS and you go to Price cause you don't trust Lowe and company Down by 3 with noose around your neck in the ALCS and you go to the bottom guy on depth chart.
  13. What do you mean what is my problem? Suddenly the moves Alex made to help the team win the division, win a playoff round and play in a LCS were bad when we lose a few games?
  14. I had no problem starting Hendricks with a 7 run lead, and I also understand why he went to Osuna, even though I would've let Hendricks stay in as well. But hey, if Hendricks stays in and gives up that home run then people wouldn't shut up about why Osuna was in, f*** me right?!
  15. No, it won't hurt because we won the division and then won a playoff round. There are teams in the league that hang banners that say "LCS Apperance". That's how frequently teams not named the Yanks, Cards, Sox and Giants make the post season.
  16. k "come meet members of the Edmonton Oilers, Josh!" Who gives a f***?
  17. Did he come off as a douche? Yeah. But he's upset the team is down 0-2 and is being asked the same question over and over. We have no idea how they dealt with it behind closed doors. But Jose's non-answer is creating some fabricated "read between the lines" ******** that the media is feasting on. He would've come off looking bad no matter what he said, so he choose to say nothing and still gets roasted. Goins took full responsibility. Why even go to Jose about it? (even though it's inevitable)
  18. You're a moron for applying OPS to hitters like Revere or any hitter with little power. OBP is much more important and he puts up a pretty palatable .330-.350 OBP OBP > SLG.
