    It's unfortunate that bottom 1/3 starters cost this much now, but this is also the reality of playing in Toronto. Happ is decent and has already played here, making it more likely that he'd sign over someone like the biggest hick in the league in Zimmermann. 3 years seems like 1 too many and guys don't like Happ because he isn't attractive or have a sexy delivery, but hey...

    I think it was common knowledge that it would come down to Bautista and Encarnacion after this upcoming season. It would suck absolutely if he went to Boston though.

    I'm tired of hearing about the "first time in 22 years!" That's irrelevant. The only thing that's relevant is what happened within Alex's 6 years as GM.

    No, they handled the Beestan situation poorly. But, from every report from various sources both involved and not involved cite that Rogers did their best to keep Alex. Yes, for the casual fans out there the only way they could've done that was by ripping up Shapiro's contract, which in turn would make them actually terrible and no respected executive would work for them again. I don't know what else Rogers could've done. This is a dead horse, really.
