  1. I am looking for at least one ticket and ideally 2-4. I have two healthy kidneys available if it comes to that.
  2. Since some time in the late 80's, I think '88. My earliest memory of the Jays is watching a game with my dad and the Jays turned a double play in the first inning and my dad clapped his hands together loudly and yelled "DOUBLE PLAY!" I really really got into it in '92 and '93. We didn't have cable growing up so I could barely watch any games but I remember reading about it and checking the box scores in The Star the next morning all the way through the summer. Alomar was my favourite in '92 because I loved watching his defense. It was also great watching how effortless Devon White made everything look in center field. In '93, Molitor won me over. He was just such a great hitter, charismatic during interviews, and also crafty. Even though he wasn't overly fast, he'd sometimes stretch a single into a double because the outfielder was taking their time. And of course his World Series performance against Philly was amazing.
  3. Thus begins my quest to purchase post season tickets via whatever means necessary.
  4. I agree. Moogy doesn't even register in the official dipshit rankings, has more to contribute than 95% of posters, and yet he is always PE#1 around here.
  5. I voted for BBBB. I did it for the lulz.
  6. After the big deadline trades, a lot of people (myself included) were cautiously optimistic about taking a wildcard and held out some hope that maybe, just maaaaaybe, they could catch the Yankees over the last two months before running out of time. But the Jays are like NOPE NOPE WE JUST NEED TWO WEEKS
  7. Is that for sure? Sounds likely, but this message makes me think there are no guarantees of even that: http://mlb.mlb.com/tor/ticketing/flex_packs.jsp Offer available: Wednesday, August 12 @ 10 a.m. to Friday, August 21 @ 5 p.m. Offer is subject to availability. Full details regarding the opportunity to purchase Postseason tickets will be communicated in the coming weeks. Postseason tickets for all Series (Wild Card game, American League Division Series, American League Championship Series, and World Series) will be sold only in strips (i.e. you must purchase tickets to all the home games of all the Series). Access to Postseason tickets is limited to two seats per account.
  8. Yeah this does seem odd at first glance but the numbers do work. -Assume home team wins approx 55% of the time (this is generous, I've read that it's closer to 53%) -Assume four days per week where all 30 teams are in action over a 6 month period (104 opportunities a season) Based on those, you would expect it to happen once every 7800 opportunities or once every 75 seasons. Also there has only been 30 teams since 1998 so it's even less surprising that it hasn't happened. The grand slam one is definitely beating the odds though if they've had 154 opportunities.
  9. Haha, Yankees just received surprise anal
  10. Then I shall align as a Norman. Although I feel there's more back-story to this.
  11. What are Normans and what are Howies?
  12. As expected, the post ratio in this thread of homoerotic fawning over his picture to actually discussing him as a baseball player is about 4:1
  13. Sorry, not trying to be a dick, but what seems obvious to some isn't obvious to all: https://vimeo.com/1337 And yes, thanks for the video to the OP.
  14. Hmmmm, Toronto keeps pillaging Mike Ilitch. First Babcock and now potentially Dombrowski?
  15. This is what I was thinking too. It's way easier for MLB to just trust the umpires judgment and not go against the union on something that's ultimately subjective anyway. That said, they also could have just not suspended anyone and the umps would still save face. Or perhaps they're just complete morons and have piss-poor sense of right and wrong.
  16. Great win for the Jays. Really great to see Dickey pitch well; we need him bad. Umps were a joke for letting this get out of hand. Sanchez probably did throw at him though in my opinion. The game situation was good: up by 3, 8th inning, 2 outs, and 2-0 count which means you'd be pitching from behind anyway. Maybe you wait for Hosmer or something, but that's about as good a spot as they come. I think people are just mad at all the nonsense that led up to the Sanchez ejection, and they should be.
  17. Read this somewhere today: the last time a team traded for an ace and ended up winning the World Series was the Jays with David Cone in '92. David... Cone. The Toronto Blue Jays. The stars are aligning! Can't be a coincidence! (edit: definitely is a coincidence)
  18. This is exactly what I was thinking too at reading yet another AA joke about gyros/souvlaki/tzatziki. Time for some new material boys, this one has run its course. Quick suggestions: You could compare AA to Alexis Tsipras or some other disastrous Greek politician. Or if AA gets bent over in a trade, you could say he got "Corinth'd". Just find something.
  19. Interesting. You really, really have to trust your base coaches there, seems like a guy concentrating on the signs being made the catcher is ripe for getting picked off. Assuming it's not a coincidence, there's nothing wrong with this. It crosses the line when you use external methods for sign stealing (signals in the crowd, ear pieces, whatever)
  20. Couldn't we have just signed Shields in the off season? Why now but not then? Unless Shields didn't want to play here and this is our way of forcing him. Probably not the best strategy.
  21. I do think he's right that baseball isn't complex but his reasons for believing that are stupid. I mean, if you compare to football, there are some huge uneducated morons who score <10 on the Wonderlic and they still can memorize whole NFL playbooks and not f*** it up that much. When you dedicate your whole life to a sport with set rules, pretty much anyone can understand how to play. Baseball is even simpler for a player because there is hardly any true decision making when you play. 95%+ of the time, there is one correct play and you go your whole life repeating that and it's as automatic as can be. From a manager perspective, aside from playing match-ups and defensive positioning (both which are better handled by the analytics team anyway and the manager is just the messenger), there's not a heck of a lot beyond sending out your best players as often as you can. I think the best manager in baseball is one who works effectively with the analytics team and employ's strategy based on that (and relying less on hunch and instinct), but also has really strong soft skills to manage ego's, give bad news, motivate the team, etc. I'm not sure that's still a good idea to put a rookie manager right into the MLB like the Marlins, but if there's ever a sport you could get away with that, it's baseball.
  22. Fake. Who sits that close to the pool? The guy's chair is practically right on the edge. Also bad acting by the cake guy. And the guy in the red and chick in black both push the table in unison. Or does everyone already know it's fake and the joke is on me?

I like this move for no other reason than Lou looks like a total badass who eats nails and crushes souls.
  24. The Frasier's appear to be cheating by throwing pitches before some of those homeruns landed. And since this is Cincinnati, no one shall say anything.
