  1. yes Rogers is grinding out this team like a small market team. In reality the Bluejays have one of the biggest markets in MLB. They can hide or manipulate the value of the TV rights the team gets because they own the broadcast network. In effect they are sucking and blowing at the same time..... Long term develop the farm! but get some short term help. we need some young position players who are stars. Bautista and EE can't do it alone, plus they are getting to the point in there careers where their production will decline and injuries will become more recurring Come on Rogers, step up. We need something to keep us excited long term
  2. the eye test fails for LF and CF (rasmus) big time this year. RF is hit and miss, I don't like how JB tracks balls going backwards - but his throwing has been very strong this year. This is the problem with a below average LF, you can't have below average CF beside and average RF on the other side. It kills pitching long term. Especially with guys like Burhle and Dickey throwing. They are fly ball pitchers
  3. I would anticipate Osuna will participate in the Arizona fall league. this will get him some innings this season, maybe have him on track to start in AA next season??
  4. if you look at defensive stats Melky is below average. Significantly
  5. What is the cumulative effect of playing multiple games on concrete? If your body is broken down you tend to get injured more. Where the eventual injury occurs is not what Jose is talking about
  6. that's what the Yankees did that made them so great in the past 15 years. Home grown players like Jeter, Posada and Rivera which they supplemented with FA signings Rogers, however does not acknowledge they have the biggest market in MLB with the highest # of TV viewers. They should be spending up to $200million instead they chose to run small market and get the players to throw $ in a hat to sign a FA pitcher at the start of the year. that's just ********
  7. I agree 100% While I'd like to compete and "go for it" this year, I don't want to give up assets which can make us competitive for years to come
  8. what bautista says is prob true, but saying it out loud does not help recruiting players to play in Toronto
  9. and it looks like the cubs are trying to stockpile assets in order to be successful in the long term. Let's see how successful they are
  10. Mikeleelop (WMKL): How does Pompey compare vs. Gose? Pompey seems to have a much more advanced approach at the plate while Gose is faster with a stronger arm.. Jeff Moore: They're pretty different players. Gose is all speed and arm, but has never really hit all that much, and probably won't. He certainly won't hit lefties. Pompey is a much better hitting prospect than Gose ever was, but if he ends up not hitting, his defense isn't strong enough to carve out a major league career like Gose will probably be able to do.
  11. Mikeleelop (wmkl): Pompey had four good AB's yesterday but does his start at AA cause for concern? Jeff Moore: No, it's far too early to worry about him in Double-A. That's the hardest jump in the minors to make and it's only been 15 games.
  12. #22 Daniel Norris | Blue Jays (P) Age G GS IP H HR K/9 BB/9 ERA FIP 21 17 17 83.1 63 3 10.91 2.81 1.84 2.39 A highly-regarded amateur, Norris suffered through a nightmare first pro season in 2012 but made adjustments and rebounded nicely in the second half of 2013. He’s spent the 2014 season pitching in both High-A and Double-A ball and has struck out 101 batters in 83.1 innings. The lefty has great makeup, a strong work ethic and the pure stuff to be a No. 2 or 3 hurler once he becomes more consistent with his command. [Pre-season Ranking: N/A]
  13. two top 25 prospects... I like where the farm system is going. Finally see some potential there for help in the next couple of years
  14. I didn't see this posted anywhere yet, great write up FAP away Roberto Osuna, RHP, Blue Jays Osuna made his much-anticipated return to the mound this past week after undergoing Tommy John surgery last summer. Pitching for the Blue Jays' Gulf Coast League team, Osuna was sharp in his only inning of work. He threw about 15 pitches, all fastballs, but it was a very encouraging step for him. When a player comes back from this type of surgery, the velocity isn't always there right away and the same can be said for the control and command. This was not the case for Osuna. His mechanics were sound. He's still sporting the low-effort, smooth delivery he's always had, and showed no rust in this department. He was pumping an easy 95-97 with his fastball while locating to both sides of the plate. He was repeating his delivery and attacking hitters from the first pitch of the game. This type of aggressiveness is another positive in his return. He was neither reluctant nor hesitant when going after hitters. Having said all of this, the thing I came away most impressed with was his body. The hard-throwing Osuna has had some concerns about his thick frame in the past, but he looked very fit, strong and comfortable with his current build. It's obvious he has taken his conditioning seriously during his time off, and to me that speaks volumes about where his head is. He's taking his rehab seriously and seemed to be champing at the bit to get back into game action. With this kind of debut, Osuna will once again be a very popular name in the prospect world much sooner than later, and rightly so. —Chris King
  15. Very athletic plat but Isn't he out of the baseline??
  16. you could argue that you are missing 4 bats with the way bautista is swinging after the hammy injury. his approach and expanded strike zone make him look like last year's swinging gate
  17. I'm not advocating making a change right now. you can ride Kawasaki's hot streak out Sure in the long run I definitely like Goins. I love his defence. it will save runs over the course of a season, if someone had the stones to keep him there. However, like I said you can't have a no hit 2b or SS when the rest of the lineup is cold so he's not an option right now. I agree to let him have the year at AAA to get comfortable and maybe be ready one day
  18. agree, but remember when Goins came up last year and was hitting .400 for awhile?? That is the Kawasaki we are seeing now - no way he can maintain that. Kawasaki is an average defender who will hit under .250 with no power. Goins is a much better defender who will hit under .250 with no power. they both are not great options (yes they suck offensively) when you do not have 8 other strong hitters going.
  19. difference in centre fielders - Trout catches rasmus liner easily, rasmus can't haul in potential HR
  20. they both suck offensively. Goins is elite defense. Kawasaki is average
  21. His defence is elite. He deserves another shot
