  1. More: - Alek Manoah is only expected to miss one turn in the rotation. Threw yesterday and felt okay. Eligible to return July 26. - Corey Dickerson has resumed baseball activities and is expected to begin a rehab assignment soon. - Hatch might remain with the team as a reliever once Manoah returns. Depends on how the team is set up. - Atkins mentioned having a strong prospect pool to dangle at the deadline, so they don't seem opposed to trading from there.
  2. The front office feels a huge sense of relief on Pearson now that they have clarity on his injury and have discovered that his troubles are related to a sports hernia. They feel they can manage it. Pearson has resumed throwing, is due to get on the mound next week and is being converted into a reliever for this season. Will be stretched out again next year. Tweets with more from Atkins:
  3. Not the Jays, but a big one. The Pirates saved $2M on #1 pick Henry Davis. This is where half of that went:
  4. This is this bum's first comment since July 10. Had nothing to say while they were winning, pops out immediately as they get off to a bad start in a game.
  5. What a f***in weirdo bet to make.
  6. Manoah missing at least two starts. Time for Hatch worshippers to celebrate.

  8. Oh, come on... Hopefully he's okay and doesn't miss any time.
  9. Steering this back on topic, Orelvis Martinez was named to the Prospect Team of the Week on MLB.com. https://www.mlb.com/news/prospect-team-of-the-week-july-19th?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage
  10. This is embarrassing. Being a welcher and shaming someone over sex are both just bad looks for you.
  11. That's how it is with every manager. Five years from now you won't remember Montoyo being bad either, just general frustration. As much as I loathe Montoyo's bullpen management, it isn't as bad as Farrell trotting f***ing Francisco Cordero out there every night.
  12. That's what I thought too but it actually depends on if they can get the other unsigned picks in the top 10 under slot. They're only 100K over budget right now even after the Carter signing. The 100K they'd already saved and the nearly 300K in 5% overage allowance covered most of Carter's cost. If they can find a way to save 500K between Tiedemann, Juenger, Gregory, Larkin and Cooke, they can potentially afford Holman. Of course, that would prevent them from being able to go overslot on any of the other 11-20 guys and you have to assume Bucknam at least is an overslot guy.
  13. I'm surprised how high Farrell is on people's lists. I know the alternatives are mostly a pile of s*** as well but Farrell was f***ing atrocious. I wouldn't trade Montoyo for Farrell if the option existed to do so.
  14. It's not so much as them "pocketing" it. There's no slot values for Rounds 11+, there's just a maximum of 125K. Not every amateur prospect is worth $125,000 so it doesn't make sense to pay them all that amount. Plenty of players in that range will sign for nothing just to get a chance at playing pro ball.
  15. - Gibby - - - - - - Montoyo - Cito - - - - - - - - - - - - - Farrell Didn't watch Cito enough so maybe he was better than Chuckles. Didn't watch the others at all. I've heard Buck was atrocious.
  16. 13th rounder Matt Svanson signed for $50,000. 15th rounder Garrett Spain signed for $125,000.
  17. He was one guy I really thought the home run derby could help. You always hear about the derby messing people's swings up but Soto has had atrocious launch angles all year and it felt like consistently lifting the ball at the derby could maybe unlock something for him. He's looked a lot better since the break.
  18. Also evidenced in the trades for Lawrie, Escobar and Rasmus. All guys who came cheap because they had makeup concerns in their previous orgs. AA definitely seemed to think bad makeup guys were a market inefficiency. But I think Ray was saying the same thing you guys are; he likes that this front office cares about makeup.
