  1. I know Jansen's been dece lately but this could be a good thing for the Jays in the grand scheme of things. Kirk is on fire.
  2. Alejandro Kirk in his last 6 at-bats: 6 hits, 7 RBIs. Also, Orelvis Martinez hit another home run.
  3. Alejandro Kirk in his last 6 at-bats: 6 hits, 7 RBIs. It's a shame I can't think of a major league baseball team that could use his offense.
  4. Pretty hilarious that the Red Sox are getting to the Blue Jays Cy Young contender and the Jays haven't gotten to one of the worst starting pitchers in baseball.
  5. Sweet. We dodged the Hatch start but they still went with Richards. Hopefully it pans out.

  7. Only so much they can do. Some things can't be proven without a shadow of a doubt and Payamps is fringe enough that they can cite baseball reasons. Similar to holding players down to withhold super two status. MLBPA bitches about it but can't do anything at the end of the day because teams can play the baseball reasons card. Either way, if they got rid of Payamps because he was an anti-vaxxer, that would be epic.
  8. Or like 140 for two of them. I'm sure the front office had a decent idea of if they could get these guys within their budget but I'll still be surprised when Bucknam and Palmegiani sign for those amounts. Like, I'm expecting and hoping for it to happen but I also know that the amount the Jays can pay these guys is like the bare minimum they could get in a future draft even if they decided to go to school. The risk here is super low, relatively, so the only real reasons I can see them signing for is that they're either super passionate for baseball and want to get their pro careers started or they feel they aren't good enough to maintain their stock or improve on it over the course of another year or two.
  9. The 2021 draft is in the books and most of the Blue Jays picks have already been signed. Which means it's time to start looking forward to the class of 2022. Here's Jonathan Mayo's way-too-early mock showcasing the top 20 players for next year: https://www.mlb.com/news/2022-mock-draft-mlb-top-prospects
  10. Good news: The Jays locked in their second youngest draft pick remaining. Juan Gonzalez for $100,000.
  11. Thanks for the link, had no idea the old guys had to fight Shatkins so hard to get Bichette. Thank god they got through to them. Would have been brutal to find out how badly people in the Jays front office wanted him while watching him come up with some other team. Pretty funny how the quintessential pick that gets Shatkins' draft record so much shine was one they fought hard not to make.
  12. He was Atkins' first pick. That's definitely a fair way to look at it but, if we're following this line of reasoning, a regime that isn't accountable for the Zeuch pick also can't get credit for the Bichette and Biggio picks, along with anyone else in that draft.
  13. That's the main negative here. They didn't get to beat up Hatch but the Jays also didn't get to beat up Richards. He's one of the worst starters in baseball so if ever there were a game where you could try and see what you have with Hatch in a starting pitcher, it would be in a game against Richards. That being said, they've kicked the s*** out of Pivetta in the past and that didn't help yesterday so it's probably for the best this game was postponed.
  14. Some more good news: Kirk reinstated and optioned to Triple-A. Kay demoted. Zeuch DFA'd.
  15. Yeah, moving passed the bummed feeling of not having baseball to watch tonight, this is excellent for the Jays in a lot of ways. - Skip the Hatch start. - Rest the bullpen. - Manoah doesn't miss a start. - More baseball in Toronto. - One less game with opposing fans hijacking the stadium. - One more game with potential trade deadline upgrades on the team.
  16. Postponed. Guess they at least get to dodge the Hatch start.

  18. I'm assuming Collazo just hasn't tweeted it yet but he has the info. It's in the Baseball America draft database. Same place I learned of Spain and Svanson's bonuses early. https://www.baseballamerica.com/draft-history/mlb-draft-database/#/?Year=2021&Round=0&TeamId=1022&Position=&SchoolName=&FourYearSchoolType=false&JuniorCollegeType=false&HighSchoolType=false&OtherSchoolType=false&StateOrCountry=&Signed=&SigningBonusMin=0&SigningBonusMax=0&PlayerName=&OverallNumber=0
  19. With only $33K in excess available, Holman is guaranteed to go off to college. And if Tiedemann comes in at or around slot, they have essentially nothing left to go over on the remaining 11-20 guys. Hoping they're still able to lock in Bucknam and Palmegiani with the $125K allowances at those picks.
  20. The Jays signed 10th rounder Connor Cooke for $141,900. Slot for Cooke was $144,400 so they only saved $2,500. They also signed 18th rounder Jimmy Burnette for $50,000.
