  1. Small sample size but one slightly concerning thing is Berrios' record against the Red Sox, Yankees and Rays. 4.93 ERA vs Boston (34.2 IP) 5.79 ERA vs Yankees (14.0 IP) 7.15 ERA vs Rays (22.2 IP) Not sure how many of those innings are from before he became really good but some teams just have better scouting reports on specific pitchers and if those AL East teams know something about getting to Berrios, it could be problematic for the Jays. Ironically, the team he's dominated the hardest in his career is the Blue Jays. 0.46 ERA in 19.2 career innings against the Jays.
  2. The giant H-O-M-E letters in the field needed like 15 people each to carry them out. Took a while just to get that stuff off the field.
  3. lmao I don't drink so I'm spared the ridiculous alcohol costs. We got three slices of pizza, a pretzel and a coke.
  4. Holy s***, the medics at the Jays game are elite. One of the ushers just tripped and fell and looked like he collapsed. This guy next to us starts screaming "medic!" and within seconds there's three EMTs that have made their way from the field through the netting and checking on the guy.
  5. This is already my best trip to a Jays game ever. We decided to splurge and get like $40 of concessions and after they gave us our food the girl's like it's on the house, our machines aren't working. It's also nice to see batting practice for the first time in person. Not a lot of bombs because it's the Royals but still. Wish they opened it early enough to catch the Jays.
  6. Game #100 Kansas City Royals (Lynch) @ Toronto Blue Jays (Stripling) Schedule | Standings | FanGraphs | News | Video | Spotlight | Twitter | Reddit | Instagram WE'RE BACK BABY! Got here at the dome over an hour ago. Trying to format this GDT from my seat lmao.
  7. If Soria is the only other player they got, this was not a well-managed trade deadline by this front office. You don't go all in on Berrios and not patch any of the other holes. Hoping they still have some moves pending.
  8. On my way to the game, can't embed tweet.
  9. Williams going with Baez to the Mets.
  10. Looking at the prices for Berrios and Kimbrel, I'm f***ing annoyed how cheap the Yankees got Joey Gallo.
  11. I'm still pissed Rogers or a salary-eaten Donaldson weren't in this trade, lol. The Jays still need a bonafide pen arm and a defensive upgrade at 3B and if they want to still shop for it, they'll have to pay even more than they already have.
  12. Tyler Chatwood has been DFA'd. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/07/blue-jays-designate-tyler-chatwood-for-assignment.html
  13. So as upset as I am about losing Martin, here's some perspective: The Mariners just traded Alex Jackson for Adam Duvall, a flatly league average player. The irony of Jackson being moved moments after Martin is that he's a perfect example of what could go wrong with a prospect like this. Picked #6 overall by the Mariners, considered by most to be the best bat in the draft and just never put it together.
  14. The thing is, it's not really a question of if the Blue Jays think they're top 50 prospects or not. It's a question of which other GM's throughout baseball do see them that highly and who you could have finessed for a better package. I refuse to believe that all 30 GM's were suddenly clued in on some apparent value loss on Martin and Richardson that none of the general prospect evaluators in baseball heard about. It's just hard to imagine Jose Berrios was the best they could have done for this package even if they were down on them internally.
  15. "Like someone said, a lockout next year could even essentially make Berrios a rental."
  16. It's set in stone. Time to come to grips with it.
  17. I think the part that I hate the most about this is that they're going all in on this team. Their playoff odds are way too low for that at this point. They've pissed away too many winnable games. The realistic best case scenario here is a one game Wild Card even if everything breaks right. And Berrios probably isn't even the guy you're going to pitch in that game anyway. Like someone said, a lockout next year could even essentially make Berrios a rental. This is probably the most puzzling move this front office has made so far.
  18. This would have been a little easier to stomach if they had a guy like Rogers also coming back. It's almost an extra kick in the dick to know they probably aren't in on guys like Rogers or Donaldson anymore since if they were, they'd probably have expanded this deal. I know this is an intelligent front office but I'm shattered right now at losing Martin.
