  1. Fun little bit of trivia. Since Triple-A started before the majors, and the Bisons happened to have the first game of the day, Palacios drove in the first professional runs of the 2022 season.
  2. Holy s***, that's hilarious.
  3. New York did but the Yankees still play 9 important games in Toronto, where the restriction still exists and is still a regular topic in the media. If guys like Rizzo and Judge (the two everyone's suspecting aren't vaxed) can't come north of the border, then obviously depth options like Bird become important for them.
  4. That's a good point. I do feel like Rizzo's relatively durable but I also forgot about the vaccine s***. Bird could easily find himself getting significant playing time as the Yankees left-handed 1B option if it turns out that Rizzo is still unvaccinated.
  5. Ah, yes. The time you claimed I put words in your mouth and then never actually made an effort to prove how I put words in your mouth, never made an attempt to clarify what part of your argument was misconstrued and what you actually meant, and instead watched everyone else on the forum quote your posts and make it clear that I addressed your points exactly as you made them. Nah, I really don't care. It became a lot funnier to me when I realized that the guy wasted time writing multiple essays in an elaborate attempt at a "gotcha!" all because he incorrectly assumed that I give two shits about Greg Bird as a baseball player.
  6. You went on a multiple-page tangent based entirely on the misconception that I was a Greg Bird stan and now you're sitting there awkwardly realizing you need to develop better reading comprehension skills, lmao. Yeah, you really dunked on me.
  7. When the f*** did I stan Greg Bird? I said I thought he was a lock for the roster because of the team's current composition, not because I actually give a s*** about Greg Bird. I'm one of the few people here that's actually aware of him being a regular Spring King and doing nothing to parlay that into actual regular-season success. Find something better to do with your time, douchebag.
  8. Nevermind, I'm dumn. It looks like they already announced Vasquez has been sent to AAA. Missed that too. So now neither of those call-ups are surprising to me, lol. Still, I don't understand their fascination with the trash can that is Thornton. I'd rather see someone like Castro in that role.
  9. I'm surprised both Thornton and Saucedo made it. Merryweather Thornton Saucedo Romano Mayza Garcia Cimber Richards Stripling Phelps Unless they're planning on entering camp with more than 15 pitchers or making a surprise decision on one of the other guys above, it looks like they're sending Vasquez down and waiving Borucki?
  10. Pearson news: Not ideal but I guess it's a lot better than an injury.
  11. It's the last game of the spring and it won't be long now before we start getting news on who's made the opening day roster and who hasn't. Time for a new thread! Archive: - Rosterbation Discussion Thread (2021)
  12. It's too early in the morning for this cringe. First of all, I didn't say other teams were going to offer him a more concrete role. I said I was guessing that was happening. Ironic choice to put words in my mouth before going off about "complete ********." I also retracted that comment when the news came out that Bird himself opted out. Secondly, the Blue Jays still haven't made a decision on their 40th roster spot. It's possible they did tell him he wasn't making it or maybe he and his agent just read the tea leaves, but there is no real proof yet that the Jays told him they were sending him to Buffalo. What we do know is that Bird himself elected to opt-out and sign the same deal he had with the Jays elsewhere. He made a choice. And even if we find out that the Blue Jays hated him, told him he had no chance of breaking with the club and said "it'd probably be more graceful if you just opted out before we cut you," you know what that would mean? Nothing. Because it doesn't matter. Because I'm just some random on a forum that was speculating on what happened before we had the information, which is all anyone does on a discussion forum. You absolute weirdo.
  13. Even on a minor league deal with a hope of breaking out with the team at some point, it doesn't really make sense to me why he would pick the Yankees over the Jays. The Blue Jays only have Vladdy at first, who they will likely DH like 30 times this year anyway. And they don't actually have a traditional DH. The Yankees have Rizzo and LeMahieu at first and Stanton at DH. He has no chance of breaking through with them unless there are multiple injuries or they decide they want him up exclusively as a lefty bench-bat in pinch-hit situations. That still feels counter-intuitive since one of the Yankees' only lefty bats is at the position he plays. Maybe he just really wanted to be a Yankee again. Either way, regardless of how we got here, I'm glad he's out because the more I thought about it yesterday, the more I felt that the Jays didn't need a one-dimensional guy on a roster that is so flexible and needs to be able to move guys around. It doesn't really matter to me what team he picked.
  14. Please tell me you didn't fall for the obvious satire in that tweet, lol.
  15. a) I'm having a hard time figuring out why you're so emotional and combative about this. How does Greg Bird signing with the Yankees prove anything? In fact, this tweet actually implies the opposite of what you're insinuating:
  16. Our first "Opening Day Roster" casualty:
  17. Yes. I want Kirk as the primary catcher and my initial guess was they'd DH Bird when Kirk caught and DH Kirk when Jansen caught. But when I think of "Kirk catching" scenarios, I'm realizing why Bird was so expendable to the Jays. There are just so many other combinations they'll probably be running. IE: - Kirk C, Tapia LF, Gurriel DH - Kirk C, Gurriel 1B, Tapia LF, Vlad DH - Kirk C, Espinal 2B, Biggio DH Etc, etc. With the relative versatility of the bench and main lineup, you really don't need a roster spot locked up on a one-dimensional guy like Bird unless you really believe in his bat. I just really hope Montoyo and Atkins do consider Kirk an everyday player and we aren't seeing him benched on days Jansen is catching just because we need to get Katoh or Tapia's elite lefty bats into the lineup against RHP.
  18. Got our first guy. Guessing/hoping the last spot goes to Lukes, at least over a guy like Collins. He needs to work his s*** out in the minors. And I don't think they should be or even want to be bringing up Fowler until he's worked himself back up to speed. Not sure what other options exist realistically.
  19. My guess is that the bench is going to be Espinal, Tapia, Katoh and Lukes, barring any other trades/pick-ups.
  20. People keep saying this as if it's a guarantee they're spending "all of their prospect capital." There's no reason to believe that until we actually get some information on their negotiations. If the Guardians want major league talent, the Jays have plenty enough to facilitate it without giving up one of their top two prospects.
  21. So he's a 64-year-old with Parkinson's. That explains the voice.
