  1. Olney thinks the Jays should give the O's Stroman for Duquette. Stupid f***ing ****.
  2. Given that the team who posted him doesn't know who won the bidding themselves, where would this friend even have heard it? Grain of salt is right.
  3. I'm a lot higher on him than most people, but most people are probably more reliable or knowledgable than me on the matter. I know nothing about the KBO.
  4. I've wanted them to trade him for salary relief all offseason so far, but that was because I wanted them to target Medlen or Lowrie and be able to afford them. At this point though, who are you cutting salary for? Unless they're targeting Shields, which is a guy I can easily see the Jays being a mystery team on, and probably the last remaining non-RP free agent that makes sense for them, I don't mind keeping Navarro at this point. He was clutch as a motherf*** last year, and even if it wasn't sustainable, you could probably do worse for a PH, which is all I think they should use him for.
  5. I'd say not to get your hopes up.
  6. I can see this happening if the Rockies finally decide that they're ready to break up with Tulo.
  7. I'm kinda hoping that this craze that's taken over them pushes them to make a splash for a shortstop, or pick up someone like Asrubal or something, and they leave Toritani for us.
  8. http://i.gyazo.com/4dc3d055fc796192b3d4613774b4ea2b.png The Bisons have probably made more acquisitions this off-season than any other team in baseball.
  9. By the way, I've been wondering all morning... why would a team that can't employ a DH, trade so much for Matt Kemp, when their plans included Wil Myers and Justin Upton, and they already employ Seth Smith? So what, now the Padres are going to trade away four outfielders? They've still got Smith, and they've still got Quentin, Venable and Maybin (who, granted are all probably s***, but still take roster spots and a decent bucket of salary).
  10. Again, I get the sentiment, but the Rays always seem to get pretty big returns on their players, and they're still able to hold onto them far longer than the A's do. The Rays have extended Moore, they've extended Zobrist, they've extended Longoria. Shields was there for a long time, Price was there for a while. Someone who's grown up as a Rays fan over the last several years will recognize a lot of the guys there as franchise players. I know the A's are in a limited market, but there are other teams with similar handicaps, and yet nobody does things the way the A's do. And yeah that's probably what appeals to a wide majority of people about the A's FO, but that's also probably why their fans are jaded. Like I said, I do think it'll eventually turn out well for them, as it always does, but losing five all stars in one year, and every single one of them to trades as well, it's gotta hurt the people that follow that team, no matter how optimistic they can be.
  11. FanGraphs users are kinda weird I think. Romero was the third most searched guy a few weeks ago. You kinda made it worse with this post. I don't know what you think "Steamer" is in charge of doing, when you mention "programs/algorithms/codes" and wonder why the "programmer felt the need to include the line on projections" but that's exactly what Steamer is. The projections. I'm not sure if you're under the impression that there's some dude out there that uses "Steamer" as an alias, and invented WAR, wRC+ and all the advanced stats and you're asking why he also included projections, but yeah, that's not a thing. The only thing on a players fangraphs page that is done by Steamer is the projections. That's what they do. They don't "include" projections into a host of other things.
  12. I know that the A's will probably come out on top one way or another, but I don't take back my original comment. As much as the A's have won and gotten to the playoffs, I don't think I'd actually trade being a Jays fan for being an A's fan. The process might lead to success, but the process they use absolutely screams the idea that "this is a business, not a sport". Sports are supposed to be for people's enjoyment. Sure winning is enjoying, but so is having baseball heroes, childhood memories and sentimental s*** like jerseys and bobble heads. People growing up as A's fans don't often have that. Even if all these players they've acquired pan out and turn into superstars, what does that even mean for the A's. They traded Norris with 4 years of control left. They traded Donaldson with 4 years of control. Cespedes was adored by A's fans, and he only wore the green for two full seasons. Even if these guys turn into stars, if you're an A's fan, you have to believe they'll just be re-traded sooner rather than later. I'd hate to follow a team that works like that.
  13. Ouch, lol. That's hard to see. I'd be pretty damn heartbroken if I was an A's fan right now. http://i.gyazo.com/03f6d0fda2a155a3e009ece22484b8b9.png
  14. "lose", "badly lost" = same thing. You're a bit of a moron though, aren't you?
  15. Or maybe it means that there's no longer any chance of it happening at all
  16. I agree. While I don't think anyone badly lost or greatly won this trade when it was first made, and we probably won't know for a long time, I think the Rays have the strongest chance of pulling ahead. I really don't like the trade from the Nationals perspective. I don't believe in Turner at all. Hated the speculation that the Jays were looking at drafting him, was bloody thankful when they picked Pentecost instead. With how many B / C prospects that were flung about in this trade though, who knows what it'll look like down the road.
  17. They were probably a lot less boring actually, because people probably didn't sit around, waiting desperately for something to happen the way we do, lmao. If you're conditioned to never know what's going on until it happens, you have no choice but to do something else with your time until something pops up in the news on TV or in the morning paper. For us, we know anything can break without a moment's notice, so we probably spend a lot more time refreshing forums and MLBTR than people did huddling around radios.
  18. First game that I can remember ever going to, I was probably about five or six years old and the Jays still had Batista, Fernandez and Delgado on the roster. I think they lost. Actually, I think the Jays lost every game I ever watched in person, until that crazy night when Burnett returned to Toronto for the first time against Doc. The stadium was on fire, probably my favorite game I've seen. Jays haven't lost in any of the matches I've gone to since then.
  19. AA actually commented on a player for (seemingly) the first time ever yesterday, when he said they had significantly scouted Toritani. He said that he sees him as a good fit and that he has had talks with their side. You can find the link to the interview with Blair here. This just feels weird to me. Of all the players and possible transactions in the history of your tenure, why would you choose to admit your interest in Toritani of all people? Wouldn't you essentially want to hide your interest in a seemingly under-the-radar guy? Also, the bidding deadline for Kang is on Friday, so we probably don't hear who won the bidding until then, maybe even a few days later. Whoever wins will still draw it out longer, since they'll have 30 days to negotiate with him from that point.
  20. Oh, he only spent a little bit of time raging at Heyman on Twitter? Oh okay, in that case he's very cool.
  21. I don't think I know everything, I don't pretend that I know everything, and I absolutely don't care if you perceive it that way. The guy asked people for their take, I gave mine. In my opinion, the trade is a 3-way wash. Nobody got a sure thing, and each of the three teams is hoping on someone panning out or doing something they haven't yet done. That's my opinion; if that is really as extreme as warranting a "Holy f***" of disbelief from the guy who spends time raging at Heyman on twitter, then so be it.
  22. I think the Rays gave up on Myers too soon, the Nats should have hung onto Souza a bit longer, and the Padres should have made the trade straight up for Souza, kept Smith and Rivera, and left the Rays out of the deal completely.
  23. My take is that I didn't think it was possible for all three teams to lose a 3-way trade until now.
