  1. Jim Bowden: For your family, an opportunity to be the CEO of an organization like the Toronto Blue Jays is not something I think you're supposed to stand in the way of someone doing. I know when John Henry didn't want to lose Theo Epstein, but when he had a chance to go over and run the Chicago Cubs, a utility player later it was done, and you don't stand in the way of someone progressing. Here is a unique opportunity for you and your family, I'm not understanding why it's not done. Dan Duquette: Yeah well, that's a good question Jim, you know I don't have the answer to that question. Jim Bowden: Dan, your relationship with Peter Angelos today, are you guys on good terms, are you guys having lunch and dinner and talking everyday? How is that personal relationship working after this Toronto blunder. Dan Duquette: Uh well, we got umm, a professional relationship. Mr. Angelos is supportive of all the things (?that I've asked him to support here?), and umm, I'm sure he'll continue to do that.
  2. Really surprised me at how blatant it came off, as indirect as it may have been intended. That's gotta be brutal for O's fans. I love it.

  4. And Tigers And bears.
  5. Let's hope that they don't. "I've never done cocaine. I just like the way it smells."
  6. The above is a really deceptive article. It's written by some dude from Chris Cotillo's blog, and he's essentially reiterating the Morosi report from yesterday, which came out before the Belisario signing. Him writing that they're "continuing" to search for a reliever after signing Belisario is baseless and misleading, given that the Belisario signing happened after that reported was written by Morosi. They very well may be still pursuing another guy, but this article implies that they are, and that hasn't yet been reported by anyone with a source.
  7. It's not lower. You're not counting the 5M or so that they'll have to spend on league-min guys (like Stroman). And it boils down to 6M because that's just how much ownership wants to spend. It kinda f***ing sucks, but you can't do anything about it. Hopefully there's a little wiggle room if something pops up that makes a lot of sense to them.
  8. We were around 123-125M (depending on what happens with Donaldson and Valencia) before the Belisario signing.
  9. I used to be so high on Crouse and Knecht a few years ago Speaking of which, I found the top 50 prospects list I submitted to another site pre-2012... My top ten were... http://i.gyazo.com/acd08ce86e5db5b231c38ef1b22e955a.png It's pretty damn crazy that there's only been two real bust-ish guys from that list so far. And I'm proud of myself for having ranked Norris ahead of Sanchez even then, lol.
  10. What the hell are you talking about? http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-laughing002.gif You do realize that Ronald Belisario and Jose Valverde are not the same man, right?
  11. See, now if someone here hates Law, you can't just simply pin it on a 9-year old bias. The guy's the biggest **** in the industry.
  12. Least newsworthy "news" of all time? "My client is not ready to sign right now, but will be in two weeks".
  13. When you see these kind of major adjustments being made in-season for multiple guys, it makes you wonder if someone on the coaching staff is helping these guys find these things about themselves. Or maybe we've really been blessed with young pitchers that are so self-aware that they've figured out these adjustments on their own. Both ways, it's good news for Jays fans.
  14. What are the chances of seeing an article like this about two different young pitchers in your staff in the same off-season. First the piece about Stroman finding Halladay's sinker, and now Hutchison's evolved slider. Hopefully these repertoire upgrades continue to be effective and carry over into the coming seasons, and these guys continue to try and find ways to make themselves better. You also have to assume that adding a guy like Martin can only help the development of these young pitchers and give them even more confidence in finding ways to evolve and adjust.
  15. "If he's a depth move then this is fine but coming out of the bullpen to start the season colour me unimpressed. The guy is 32 years old, ffs." - 61Cygni, 2015 Belisario is not signing with the f***ing Blue Jays to pitch in Buffalo. I'd also like to point out that you made the statements "you're not going to get any additional upside" and "he literally is what he is". Those are pretty definitive statements, and don't leave space for exceptions, like Oliver, Uehara, and a host of other relievers that have had no problems carrying a reliever's load at a high performance level late into their careers.
  16. Right, so let's consider it to the point of not signing Belisario as opposed to signing him. Makes sense.
  17. http://i.gyazo.com/2905d2af64ad9f57a57771365d6894fe.png He's about to take him over. http://i.imgur.com/GkHkVKq.gif?1 The dream is real.
  18. http://i.gyazo.com/89e7225f02e1756abe2657d5972621d4.png Why I'm so high on Hoffman.
  19. Oh okay. http://i.gyazo.com/28bba6eb6b8f158aec3a9d2ba4b78fe1.png
  20. I think you meant Bogaerts, and yeah I tried to quickly edit my post to make mention of that. This also doesn't include Peraza (ranked 24) who had to move to 2nd because of Simmons, Mondesi (at 38) or Gordon (at 43). There's also guys like Barreto on the way, and Kang, who can technically be considered a prospect. Insane depth at the position right now.
  21. #3 (Correa), #4 (Russell), #5 (Seager), #6 (Lindor) and #7 (Crawford) on Law's list are all shortstops. This is after Bogaerts, Baez and Owings having recently been promoted. I remember when I didn't want the Jays to draft Crawford. Ha. Good times.
  22. Pop quiz! Tell me how old Duke, Perkins, Benoit, Rodney, Neshek, Papelbon, Uehara, Street and Badenhop are.
  23. The pen was lights out going into the season last year, and by the end of the season, it was the team's biggest weakness by far. Cecil, Loup, Estrada and Belisario would be a really good starting point for the bullpen. After that, if you get a rebound from Delabar, or if you pick up another guy off the market, or if Sanchez gets slotted in and pitches lights out, or if Jenkins steps up, all of that is gravy. You don't need 7 elite RP's to contend, especially not when you have an offense like that of the Jays, and when you consider how volatile RP's really are.
