  1. Why did the Brewers leave Diaz unprotected? And why was he kept in Rookie league for four years? lol. He doesn't seem to have struggled a whole lot and he's still only 22.
  2. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/12/padres-acquire-rule-5-picks-miguel-diaz-luis-torrens.html According to MLBTR, the pieces that were traded were moved in this order: Diaz: Brewers –> Twins –> Padres Torrens: Yankees –> Reds –> Padres Haley: Red Sox –> Angels –> Padres –> Twins The result being that the San Diego Padres got the top three Rule 5 draft picks in Miguel Diaz (Twins pick, #1), Luis Torrens (Reds pick, #2) and Allen Cordoba (their own, #3).
  3. Ignoring somebody won't stop you from seeing their shitposts quoted by others, and it won't stop threads with genuine discussion from being regularly derailed. This has always been an issue here. Morons like BBBB constantly getting free reign to throw threads off track with their garbage and then baiting everybody else into perpetuating the Troll Wars further (like I'm doing now; sorry). It's akin to trying to hold a productive forum at the town hall and having the drunk village idiot stumble in and make a scene. Whether people stop to point and laugh or whether they're genuinely frustrated by the distraction, everybody stops focusing on the discussion that had been occurring beforehand.
  4. How has this mongoloid not been banned yet? There was actually decent topical discussion going on in this thread before the sideshow arrived.
  5. Yeah but look at that hair.
  6. Josh Rutledge is basically baseball's Theon Greyjoy.
  7. Blue Jays add Glenn Sparkman in Rule 5 Draft by Keegan Matheson
  8. Sparky could be a sleeper. Monster K/BB numbers, hurt by bad lobsters and BABIP. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa738220&position=P Was going to say that Shatkins might have found another Biagini, but Sparkman's numbers are clearly better than Biagini's minor league numbers across the board. Good Rule 5 pick up.
  9. RIP Matt Smoral (2012-2016).
  10. Saw the other thread was started by some dude who got banned so I'm assuming nobody will be updating it, but if the mods still think this is redundant, feel free to merge it into the other one. 11. Red Sox: "Sorry new phone, who dis?"
  12. http://m.bluejays.mlb.com/news/article/210486676/blue-jays-want-to-give-john-gibbons-extension/
  13. Duquette actually admitted telling Bautista's agent that they aren't interested because the fans hate him, lmao. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/duquette-orioles-fans-hate-bautista/ The Orioles are such a f***ing moronic organization. Why would you burn bridges with any free agent, let alone a good one that is actively negotiating with one of your division rivals?
  14. Probably throwing shade at the Orioles. Mark Shapiro is a boss ass bitch.
  15. Think he's talking about this report: Edwin Encarnacion is in wait-and-see mode because of how his market cratered. At this point, no team even willing to go three years, $60M.
  16. I haven't been using this as my primary excuse for disliking Bautista because there are several valid statistical arguments, but I'm gonna be honest... the main reason that I don't want Bautista back is because of that f***ing "shaking in your boots" comment. I actually hate that guy now for how uncomfortable he made my ride home after I heard those comments on the radio. It was the most "parent has to apologize and feel miserable because their stupid f***ing child just broke your $1200 vase" feeling I've had watching sports. Just made it embarrassing and uncomfortable to be a Blue Jays fan. Bautista is no longer good enough to where I can overlook what a douchebag and media nightmare he is. Because of him, the two biggest Blue Jays stories from this post season were the "circumstances" conspiracy theory and the "shaking in his boots" comment, both of which came from the same moron idiot. I can understand the people that do still love him or still see statistical merit in bringing him back; I don't deny that he still has some elite skills that can carry him to a pretty good season if he stays healthy. I just personally don't want to see Jose Bautista on my TV screen anymore.
  17. Yeah, I'd much rather go 4/72 for Fowler than 3/50 for Bautista.
  18. I just wouldn't sign Jose Bautista, lol. If I was stuck with Bautista, I wouldn't put him in the outfield. If I absolutely had to play him in the outfield, it wouldn't be in right field, which is where he'll probably be playing if they sign him. That's what makes it such a non-ideal move for me. It's too much of a compromise defensively. None of this would be an issue if they hadn't signed Morales but they did and so now it's an issue. In the event that they do sign Bautista and they do decide to give him the majority of his reps in the outfield, they almost have to grab a Cutch/Eaton/Fowler to make up for it on the other side of the field. You can't roll with another Bautista/Saunders-like clown fiesta for another year. Please.
  19. I agree on Pearce, which is why I'm perfectly content with Bautista walking for a draft pick. At this point, the team would have to be going out of their way to find Bautista a spot on the field, and with an aging team with several question marks still to fill, I don't think Jose is the answer. I'm still holding out hope that Shatkins pull out a miracle and somehow grab Fowler and one of Eaton/McCutchen.
  20. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-plan-make-derek-shelton-quality-assurance-coach/ Not sure what the hell this means exactly. He's basically filling the coaching void that Eric Owens left when he was fired from his gig as the assistant hitting coach.
  21. Gonna be honest, I really don't like this after the Pearce/Morales signings. Kinda smells like another full-time outfield gig for Jose. The only way I'd feel good about this is if Bautista somehow agreed to becoming the primary first baseman.
