The one thing I've noticed is that if there is a time gap between the interference and the shot on goal (in this case only a few seconds), the goal is almost always held up as a "good goal". Even if the interference was bad enough that it really should've just been called a penalty in the first place. And alternatively if the interference happens as part of the shot on goal or at the same time, the goal is called back most of the time, even if the interference was extremely minor.

Yeah, and if Shapiro was only interested in running an intellectual exercise (as he put it), he would've likely stayed in Cleveland. I assume he took the job in Toronto for an opportunity to do something different, its very likely his belief is that they can rebuild while also remaining competitive.

Yeah, the only way I see them both re-signing is on 4-year deals back-loaded. With them both making close to 25 mil in year four. Not saying its a good idea or a bad one but that's the only way its going to work unless payroll goes up. ie. 4/75 for both of them. With the yearly breakdown of 16/17/17/25 or something. Year 4 coincides with Martin coming off the books.
