    I agree honestly. I admit I started a topic with Hurl that has too many "if" and speculations and the team could just be waiting for everything else to play out. Right now the parameters include filling in two bullpen spots (Cecil and Storen likely gone), potentially 2 OF positions (Saunders/Bruce future in question and Bau) and potentially the rotation as well (Chaven & Dickey could be gone, Hutch could falter, Sanchez proves he belongs in the pen, etc.). There are too many question marks for this team heading into next season that must be addressed before investing in a luxury like Jose. That doesn't mean they can't, just other things have higher priority.

    Sportsnet had a article last season on Lawire saying how ready he was for the season and then got traded for Donaldson. They had one for Saunders a few days ago and now he is getting traded. I don't know why, but I find it funny.

    That is fair. For what its worth I don't think it would have been smart to invest in Bautista for reasons already addressed many times in this forum and doubt the team would have committed. If they were, it would have been done by now from the sounds of his comments.

    Think this is more strategic on Bautista's part than anything - feeds to the fans of "Rogers is cheap" argument. I am sure he is trying to maximize his value with the Jays. Even if not, this is Bautista. He'll bat flip what you think to yo face!

    Gibby says dumb s*** in the offseason. Like last year planning to hit Martin 2nd, which he did. But to his credit he changes things quickly when they don't work.

    Miley is actually a very good buy for the Mariners. Over the past 3 years his Hard% has gone down, his xFIP was on a steady decline as well, last year with the Sox aside. His ERA was bad but was far worse than his FIP and xFIP. Moving to a pitchers park like Seattle he'll likely put up a 3 WAR season.

    *sigh* EE doesn't even predict to be Carrasco next year (3.0 WAR vs 4.8 WAR) and Carrasco is cost controlled till 2020 where EE is a UFA. Why wouldn't they also just sign Chris Carter or Pedro Alvarez or both, may cost slightly more than EE's 10M, and platoon them and just keep Carrasco? Its. Not. HAPPENING!!

    Part of me wants O'Day here. The O's aren't going to make it to the playoffs with or without him so it won't matter and Bautista needs someone to carry his jockstraps.
